The Los Angeles Lakers' quick departure from the 2025 NBA Playoffs has led to some internal assessments, particularly about center Jaxson Hayes. Once viewed as a valuable addition after trading Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks, Hayes' playoff performance—or the absence of it—has raised doubts about his future with the team.
According to a recent insider report, Hayes' smaller role and frustration with his playoff minutes could mean he won't be with the team next season.
Jaxson Hayes' postseason minutes plummet as Lakers face early playoff exit
In the 2025 NBA Playoffs, Jaxson Hayes' involvement with the Los Angeles Lakers dropped a lot. He was averaging 19.5 minutes per game in the regular season, but in the postseason, that number plummeted to just 7.8 minutes per game across four games against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
He didn't play at all in Game 5, showing that head coach JJ Redick didn't have much faith in Hayes when it mattered most.
The decrease in playing time hasn't been overlooked. As per Lakers insider Anthony Irwin, Hayes was allegedly not pleased with his lesser role and the financial effects of his reduced minutes. Irwin observed, "In terms of returning talent, sources say there is an outside chance of Jaxson Hayes returning, but he wasn't thrilled about his role disappearing in the postseason and the money he lost as his minutes dwindled.

The Lakers decided to trade Anthony Davis to the Mavericks and bring in Luka Dončić, which was supposed to strengthen their frontcourt. But when they tried to trade for center
Mark Williams
and it fell through, they ended up without a solid center. This became really clear in the playoffs when the Lakers had a tough time keeping up with the Timberwolves' strong frontcourt.

While the Los Angeles Lakers are trying to rebuild and strengthen their roster for the next season, Jaxson Hayes' future with the team is still unclear. The fact that he had a reduced role in the playoffs and there are reports of him being unhappy with his position suggests that both parties might be considering a change. As the Lakers work to improve their frontcourt depth, Hayes' potential departure could help reshape the team's lineup in their pursuit of a championship.

'He's got the plague': Paul Maurice's bizarre joke escalates Sam Bennett contract buzz

Maurice's 'plague' comment adds drama to Bennett's contract talks (Image via: Getty Images) Sam Bennett is lighting up the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but his red-hot run isn't the only thing making headlines. As the Florida Panthers center dominates on the ice, his coach, Paul Maurice, sparked controversy with a wild remark about Bennett 's future—just as contract talks heat up and free agency looms large. Paul Maurice's 'Plague' joke fuels fire around Bennett's future in florida With 14 goals and 20 points in just 20 playoff games, Sam Bennett has become a postseason powerhouse for the Florida Panthers. But while fans and insiders praise his performance, his head coach took a bizarre turn during Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Oilers. 'He's got a horrible attitude. I think he's got bubonic plague,' joked Paul Maurice when asked about the possibility of Bennett hitting free agency. 'He's got a whole bunch of things. We're not sure he can be cured.' What may have been intended as a light moment landed awkwardly with some fans, especially given Bennett's rising value and the uncertainty around his next contract. At 29 and producing at a playoff-leading pace, Bennett is playing like a top-tier forward. Yet the Panthers have not locked in an extension. Insider James Mirtle reported that 'nobody around the league expects Bennett to reach free agency,' adding that both player and team want to keep the relationship going. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo NHL insider Elliotte Friedman also noted back in March that discussions between the Panthers and Bennett had resumed, but there's still no deal in place. Florida is facing a salary cap crunch, with Aaron Ekblad and Brad Marchand also nearing free agency. It's unlikely the team can keep all three, and Bennett's postseason form has only inflated his potential value on the open market. Former NHL player Paul Bissonnette even suggested Bennett could land a deal worth $10 million AAV, pointing to his clutch playoff performances and physical style. Punjab Kings Star Takes Blame For IPL 2025 Final Loss: "Actual Captain Is..."

Punjab Kings batter Nehal Wadhera took the entire blame for his team's loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final. Wadhera emerged as one of the top performers for PBKS in the competition but failed to score big in the summit clash as he was dismissed for 15 runs off 18 balls. In a recent interaction, Wadhera opened up about the game and said that he failed to accelerate his innings at the right time - something that worked against his side. "I totally blame myself. If I had played better at that time, we could have definitely won. I won't blame the pitch because RCB scored 190 runs. I think I was just taking the game deep, and I believe in finishing games by taking it deep. I think this was one of those days when I couldn't finish the game. When I had to accelerate in all the tournaments, whenever I accelerated, I think it paid off except for the last game." "Some days, it doesn't click, and I think it was the same day when it didn't happen. But I don't have any regrets that I was taking the game deep, and that situation was fine because the wickets were falling, but I think I could have accelerated a little more, which I have learnt and analysed. I will do that in the future and that will help me and the team," Wadhera told Hindustan Times. Wadhera was also all praise for PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer and how he led the franchise in IPL 2025. "You all have seen Shreyas' captaincy, but I think an actual captain is a leader, and his captaincy and leadership can be seen from off the field and the way he carries himself off the field. We have seen him closely in hotels, and we spend a lot of time together, and you also know the statements which he gives. I think he gave a statement which I liked a lot and I have seen that he applies it." "I think the statement that he is giving and applying it in real life off the field I think his confidence goes up just like that. The way he behaves off the field, his attitude is reflected in the game and I think a good captain, his attitude, the way he speaks, the way he handles people, if he is good, he is automatically a good leader and I think he is a perfect example for that," the youngster said.
