John Wall, 5-time All-Star, retires after 11 NBA seasons
John Wall is retiring after 11 NBA seasons. Wall, 34, played most of his career with the Washington Wizards after they made him the first overall pick in the 2010 draft out of Kentucky. The five-time All-Star point guard finishes his NBA career with averages of 18.7 points and 8.9 assists per game. 'Today, I'm stepping off of the court, but not away from the game,' Wall said in a social media post on Tuesday. 'Basketball will always be in my life, and new opportunities present themselves. I feel now is the time to walk confidently into my next chapter.' Wall played most of his career with the Washington Wizards, but also played for the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers. In his best season, he averaged 23.1 points and 10.7 assists for the Wizards in 2016-17 and was named All-NBA third team. Wall was one of the fastest, most athletic point guards during his prime — he was the 2014 Slam Dunk champion. He was an elite defender, making the All-Defensive second team in 2015. Injuries plagued the second half of his career. He never played more than half the games in any of the past six seasons and he didn't play the last two years. ___ AP NBA: The Associated Press

Video Surfaces of Luka Doncic's Apparent Leg Injury vs. Latvia
Video Surfaces of Luka Doncic's Apparent Leg Injury vs. Latvia originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic has been the epicenter of the NBA discussion this offseason. After a blockbuster midseason trade that brought Doncic to LA and sent Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks, the Slovenian phenom has been thrust into a much brighter spotlight. The Lakers have a notoriously intense fanbase that demands greatness from their players, so Doncic has had to adjust his habits quickly. He has reportedly lost a significant amount of weight this season, a sight many fans were excited to see as Doncic prepared to play for his country in the FIBA EuroBasket tournament. Unfortunately, Doncic got injured by his teammate in a freak accident Saturday morning and was forced to exit Slovenia's game against Latvia. If Doncic were to miss extended time due to injury, it would throw a major wrench in LA's plan to build around him. Luckily, Lakers insiders have already stated that the injury isn't believed to be serious, which is a sigh of relief for Laker nation. Much like the Mavericks, Los Angeles feels like they will always be in contention as long as Doncic is on the roster. Every move the team has made this summer has been tailored towards Doncic's needs and abilities, so losing him for any length of time would have been a disaster. There have been massive expectations placed on the five-time All-Star because of his body transformation. Doncic is taking a huge risk by competing in any games away from the Lakers, but it's just evident of the love he has for his country. Doncic could miss a couple of games, but he seems to have evaded a major story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 16, 2025, where it first appeared.

Jeff Teague Criticizes Kevin Durant for Inability to Elevate Teammates
Jeff Teague Criticizes Kevin Durant for Inability to Elevate Teammates originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant is one of the most talented players to ever pick up a basketball. Unfortunately, many people think he's been cursed by lacking some of the intangibles required to win at the highest level. Former Atlanta Hawks All-Star point guard Jeff Teague has made a name for himself in retirement by becoming one of the most popular basketball podcasters in the world. Recently, on an episode of his viral podcast Club 520, Teague took some shots at Durant for his lack of leadership skills, saying, 'You know how I feel about Kevin Durant, I think he's one of the best players ever, but I don't think he has the ability to take a questionable team and elevate them dudes to a certain level.' This has been a major criticism of Durant for about a decade now, namely after he ditched the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors back in 2016. The move took place after OKC blew a 3-1 series lead to the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals, which many saw as an act of cowardice and betrayal, something a true leader would never do. After winning two championships in Golden State, but being accused of being unnecessary for the team's success, he would team up with Kyrie Irving in 2019 and eventually James Harden on the Brooklyn Nets. Aside from a promising run in the 2021 playoffs where Durant had his infamous toe-on-the-line shot against the Milwaukee Bucks, they fizzled out of the playoffs early and suffered a lot of inner turmoil, which lead to all three players being off the roster by the summer of 2023. This period was seen as a massive blow to the former MVP's legacy as it was his chance to lead a team to the promised land for the first time. He was traded to the Phoenix Suns at the 2023 trade deadline and to say the marriage was a disaster is an understatement. Phoenix was knocked out by the Denver Nuggets in a tough six-game second-round series, but a change of ownership completely overhauled the roster in the worst way. The Suns went 'all in' and traded for Bradley Beal, which ended up being a fatal mistake. Beal's expensive contract and awkward fit ruined the chemistry of the team and they lost in the first round in 2024 before failing to even make the Play-In game this past season. It is unfair to blame Durant completely for all of these failures, but as the best player on each of his teams besides the Warriors, he had an obligation to lead that he did not satisfy. Once universally beloved, Durant's stints with the Nets and Suns did irreparable damage to his legacy, save for winning a ring in Houston. Durant is one of the greatest players in NBA history, but he may forever be viewed in a negative light by the masses due to the way he's handled the second half of his story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 15, 2025, where it first appeared.
