Dallas Mavericks might deny New York Knicks from interviewing Jason Kidd
The rumors of Jason Kidd going over to the New York Knicks have increased over time.
After the Knicks fired their head coach Tom Thibodeau, they have been looking for a new coach and Jason Kidd seems to be the perfect fit. However, Marc Stein recently stated that there's less chance of the Dallas Mavericks letting go of their head coach.
"Dallas, though, can simply refuse to grant the Knicks permission to speak with Kidd once formally asked and I've heard from a few well-placed observers this week who believe that the Mavericks would ultimately do just that.'

However, there is a chance that the Hall of Famer turned head coach might not want to stay at the Mavericks. It is well known that Kidd joined the team because of Luka Doncic. When the Mavericks traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers, without even informing Kidd, the head coach was frustrated. But, does that mean Kidd will leave the Mavericks? Though the team is not willing to let go of him, they do need to provide a good enough reason for the head coach to stay.
With the NBA Draft season nearing, the Dallas Mavericks have the top pick of the season and chances are high of the team picking Cooper Flagg, the most sought after player of the season. If Flagg makes it to Mavericks, it will give the head coach a solid reason to guide and train the player, thus making him stay on the team. Besides, the Mavericks do need a good defensive coach, and Kidd has been phenomenal in that area.

Now that the head coach position is completely open, several critics and former NBA players have been making their bets on who will be the next Knicks coach. NBA legend and Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal also revealed his choice of head coach for the New York Knicks. He took to his Instagram and reposted a story stating Mark Jackson, the former Golden State Warriors coach, should be appointed to the Knicks. Shaquille O'Neal thinks Mark Jackson will make the perfect head coach for the Knicks On Sunday, June 8, O'Neal reposted a story on his Instagram without any captions. The story contained an image of Mark Jackson, the former coach of the Golden State Warriors. The post was originally made by DJ Chuck Chillout, with the caption, 'Fans it time for Mark Jackson to get his Knicks coaching job. Let's goooo leave the comments.' O'Neal reposted it, indicating that he supports Jackson getting the job of the Knicks head coach. Besides, the Hall of Famer has previously voiced out regarding how Jackson will make for the best head coach for the New York players, as he's well-known for his guidance and strategies. The former head coach was awarded the Coach of the Year in 2021 for leading the Knicks to their first playoff after 2013. Besides, Thibodeau also helped the team reach Conference Finals 2025 which the Knicks had last appeared for in 2000. However, there were several rumors and news reports that players did not like Thibodeau's way of coaching. Many players anonymously gave their statements regarding their disapproval of Thibodeau. But was this the reason why the Knicks fired him? Though the actual reason is not yet revealed, fans are making their own theories. Will the Knicks go after O'Neal's choice of head coach and hire Mark Jackson? Jackson took retirement after leaving Golden State Warriors in 2014 and has his own podcast now. Even if the Knicks approach him, it remains to be seen whether Jackson will be willing to return as a coach. Rafael Nadal's La Decima-winning French Open racquet sells for record price of INR 49 lakh

The Babolat racquet that Rafael Nadal used to complete La Decima at the Roland Garros eight years ago was sold at a Prestige Memorabilia auction on Sunday for a record price of $157,333.20 (INR 49.12 lakh), which included buyer's premium. It became the most expensive racquet sold at an auction, surpassing his previous record of $139,700 (INR 11.96 lakh), which he acquired at Sotheby's in 2023 by selling the racquet he used during the 2022 Australian Open, where he beat Daniil Medvedev in the final. In 2017, Nadal defeated Stan Wawrinka in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 to complete an unprecedented 10th French Open win. The win was all the more significant as he did not drop a single set en route to the title, which he won four more times in his career before retiring from professional tennis in 2024. "To find a Grand Slam Final-used racket from Rafael Nadal is rare," reads the Prestige Memorabilia lot description. "To find one photomatched across an entire clay season (and more) -- capped by a French Open title -- is unprecedented." The custom-made racquet has a 'Rafa' emblem at the throat and a sticker reading 'RG 2017 Nadal'. Nadal attended the 2025 French Open for his farewell ceremony on Court Philippe Chatrier, which was graced by the other members of the Big Four. The organisers shared a small tribute clip as the crowd, donning 'Merci Rafa' shirts, gave a standing ovation. The organising committee ended the hour-long event by unveiling the iconic plaque on Court Philippe Chatrier, bearing Nadal's footprint along with the number 14 inscribed on it. 'When I (saw) that, I thought it was going to be just for this year. Knowing that's going to be forever there, it's a present that I can't describe in words,' Nadal said at his press conference later. 'For me it was and it is and it's always going to be a huge honor and very, very emotional to have this spot on the most important court of my tennis career, without a doubt. 'It's difficult to describe the feeling, but it's something that really touched me.'
