Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City news for Friday, May 2. Naughton confirms Swansea exit Kyle Naughton has confirmed he's leaving Swansea City at the end of the season, and admits he's unlikely to continue his playing career. The 36-year-old is approaching the end of his current deal with the Swans, and is now set to bring the curtain down on a 10-year stint in south Wales, with Saturday's final-day clash with Oxford United likely to be his last outing. Naughton has made 329 appearances for the Swans having joined from Tottenham in January 2015, and was part of the squad that finished eighth in the Premier League under Garry Monk. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here "It's very emotional," he told the club's official website. "Time flies when you're having fun as they say, and it's gone quick. "In some ways it's been a very difficult decision. In others, not so difficult. In football, when your time's up somewhere that's just how it goes. "But it's been difficult because I've been here for 10 years and I feel like part of the family and the community. That's a feeling I'll keep forever, playing for this club." Naughton hasn't yet ruled out the possibility of carrying on his playing career, but admits his advancing years mean he's unlikely to be pulling on his boots again. "Do I plan to carry on? Probably not, no," he admitted. "I'm 36 now, I've had a good go at football. It's all I've ever known since I was a very small kid, kicking a ball up against the fence. "I'll probably say that this is it. "If my phone rang and a lot of things made sense then I'd have a look, but I'm 90-plus per cent sure that this is it." Allen happy to retire as a Jack Joe Allen is similarly set to bid an emotional farewell to the Jack Army on Saturday, having decided to call time on his playing career at the end of his current deal. The midfielder, who also won 77 caps for Wales, revealed he turned down the offer of a new contract from the Swans, and says he feels privileged to call time on his career on his own terms - and at his boyhood club. "I spoke to so many people who were not happy with how their careers ended," he told the club's official website. "Be that through injury or through being released, so I am fortunate to be in a position where I am back at the club I love, and to have had the chance to come home for the last three seasons. 'To be announcing my retirement as a Swansea City player makes it extra special, I have been very fortunate. To finish my career where it started, it feels like everything has come full circle. 'My career has surpassed everything I ever thought it could be, I am proud to have had the career and the experiences I have had, whether that has been at the clubs I played for, or representing Wales. I have been part of some incredible groups with wonderful supporters, I have been very lucky.' Clark set to be made available Former Swansea City target Bobby Clark is reportedly set to be made available again this summer. The Swans had identified the midfielder as a top transfer target in January, but saw a late loan bid fall through during what was a hugely frustrating end to a disappointing window. Clark stayed at current club Red Bull Salzburg, but has since made just five appearances, and Austrian outlet Kronen Zeitung has now claimed he could be made available for loan this summer. It remains to be seen whether Swansea will return to the table for the 20-year-old, whose move to south Wales effectively fell through on a technicality. "I think that probably we weren't quick enough [on Clark]," former Swans boss Luke Williams said at the time. "In actual fact, it's a technicality that he didn't arrive here. It's a technicality in the rules that too many players went out [from Salzburg]. "They'd loaned out too many players. There were unable to loan out another player, so then they said they could potentially do a deal for a purchase. "But then it's an incredible sum, and quite rightly because he's a brilliant player, but it's not something we could have done at that stage." Bony admits to kicking former boss in training Former Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony admits he once kicked former boss Michael Laudrup in training. The Ivorian, who made 96 appearances for the club over two separate spells, was taken aback by the enduring talents of the Dane out on the training ground, and says he couldn't resist the opportunity to try and take him down a peg. "His body was still in shape because he was not too big, muscular. And technically, even when he trained with us, the skills he had were incredible. One day, I had to kick him in training because he was being so clever! "I'd said before, 'This guy! I'll kick him one day. He will see that he's driving me crazy.' He was doing some stuff to the players on the rondo drill, so I did it. I kicked him! That was crazy how good he was, but it was great to be under him."

Mac Allister tells Liverpool to sign Tottenham star he rates above Van Dijk
Liverpool are embarking on what is shaping up to be a busy summer transfer window and star midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has now sent a transfer wish to Reds manager Arne Slot Alexis Mac Allister has urged Liverpool to sign Tottenham's Cristian Romero. Mac Allister is currently away on international duty with Argentina, with Romero one of his team-mates with La Albiceleste. Together, the duo have helped their country win two successive Copa Americas and the 2022 World Cup. Mac Allister has also starred in Liverpool's Premier League title win, while Romero helped Tottenham to lift the Europa League. That ended a 17-year trophy drought for Spurs, who are set to undergo major changes this summer. The man who led them to winning the Europa League, Ange Postecoglou, has been sacked. Brentford boss Thomas Frank is expected to replace the Australian. Meanwhile, Liverpool are also embarking on a busy summer window, with Arne Slot keen to ensure his side retain their place at the top of English football. They have already been active in the transfer market, with Jeremie Frimpong having arrived while Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez are expected to join him. And Mac Allister has now urged a fourth move, singling out Romero. In an eyebrow-raising endorsement, Mac Allister also revealed that he rates the 27-year-old as being the best defender in the world. Such a rating would place him higher than Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk. Mac Allister said after Argentina's draw with Colombia on Tuesday night: 'Oh, Cuti [Romero]. He's a player I love. The way he speaks and plays. "Sometimes you feel like he's too much because he makes everything so easy. He gives me confidence. For me, he's been the best centre-back in the world for several years.' Aside from winning the Europa League, it was a miserable season for Spurs, who finished 17th in the Premier League table. That led to suggestions that Romero could move on in the summer window. But after lifting the Europa League trophy, booking their place in next season's Champions League, Romero appeared to hint that he is happy with life in the capital city. In a post on social media, he wrote: 'We achieved what we wanted this season as a group, and that's what matters. And….My name is part of the history of this beautiful club. 'I want to thank you all for the love and support every day despite everything, but I have no doubt that staying together led us to success. We must continue, this is the path. "We are the champions of Europe. As a family from start to finish, we deserved this title. No one trusted us and here we are, closing a great season. Thank you all for the love."

Emi Martinez's wife issues update on Villa star amid Man Utd transfer links
Emi Martinez appeared to be saying goodbye to Aston Villa fans at the end of their last match of the season amid summer transfer links, but his wife has a different version of the story Emi Martinez's wife has denied that her husband has said farewell to Aston Villa. A visibly emotional Martinez was seen waving to supporters following Villa's final home game of the 2024/25 campaign against Tottenham on May 16, prompting speculation he could leave this summer. The Argentina international has a contract at Villa until 2029, but their failure to qualify for the Champions League could prompt him to go elsewhere. There have been reports about Villa's concerns with complying with the Premier League 's profit and sustainability rules, suggesting the club might need to cash in on their top players. Martinez has been linked with a move to Manchester United, who first made contact in January amid worries over Andre Onana. Villa were then said to be keeping an eye on Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia as a potential replacement for Martinez. But his wife Mandinha has dismissed the speculation, telling BBC WM: "He wasn't in tears. No. Anybody who knows Emi knows he is an emotional character and that's who he is. It just shows you how much he loves the Villa fans. I love the Villa fans. We love Villa." Her words may reassure Villa supporters somewhat, but Martinez himself has been a lot less committed in public. SSpeaking to reporters after reporting for international duty recently, he said: "My future? I don't know, I come here to play for the national team, and that's the only thing that matters to me right now. "Do I want to move to a new club? The transfer window just opened, so there's still a long way to go." Meanwhile, Villa boss Unai Emery has also hinted that Martinez will be on his way this summer. Speaking before the final game of the season against United on May 25 – in which Martinez was sent off – he said: "We will see. Of course, it is the last match here [this season], and I don't know. 'We will see about the team, the players, but of course, they are responding on the field. Of course, then we will see about everything, how we are going to try to get better for the next season." HAVE YOUR SAY! Would you like to see Emi Martinez at your club this summer? Comment below. Martinez also has strong links with Arsenal, having spent much of his career on the books in north London. He has previously suggested he still loves Arsenal and praised Mikel Arteta. "I think it was 10-11 years I was here," Martinez told Sky Sports. "I've still got friends here. I came here as a lad and left a man. I'll always love this club. "They are still second, they've come far and have one of the best managers in the world. I've worked with Mikel [Arteta]. I know how good he is." Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. Former Man United youngster set for Mason Greenwood reunion at Marseille after undergoing medical - five years after forward dedicated a goal celebration in his honour
Former Manchester United youngster Angel Gomes is poised to reunited with former team-mate Mason Greenwood as he prepares to join Marseille. Gomes has reportedly arrived in the French city with the England midfielder expected to undergo a medical on Wednesday. Last month, Gomes confirmed his departure from Lille this summer at the end of his contract, ending his five-year stay with the club. The 24-year-old, who has been capped four times by the Three Lions, left United in 2020 after failing to break into their first team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Multiple Premier League clubs - including West Ham and Tottenham were understood to have been keen on bringing him back to England. Gomes will again team up with Greenwood, with the duo having come through Man United 's academy together. Gomes had made just six appearances for Man United's senior team having come through the academy, with six coming alongside Greenwood. Greenwood celebrated a goal in tribute of Gomes back in 2020, after the midfielder left Man United on a free transfer. The forward had formed an 'A' with his hands after scoring in a 3-0 win against Brighton. Gomes had responded to the tribute on social media by writing 'No words! I love you bro. 'Special, special player, thanks for the dedicated goal.' The move will see Gomes play in the Champions League next season with Marseille, after Roberto De Zerbi's side finished as Ligue 1 runners-up. Greenwood had played a key role in Marseille's qualification as he ended as the joint top goalscorer in the French top flight. The forward and his family moved to Marseille last summer after he completed a £30million move from Man United. Greenwood joined the club following a season long loan spell at Spanish side Getafe last season. It was decided he would leave Man United after he was arrested in January 2022 before being charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour. Charges against Greenwood were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service following the 'withdrawal of key witnesses and new material coming to light'.
