Chinese courier SF to raise US$752 million via Hong Kong shares, convertible bonds
Hong Kong exchange and the issuance of convertible bonds.
Proceeds from the HK$2.9505 billion equity placement and HK$2.95 billion in zero-coupon convertible bonds would be used for the firm's international and cross-border logistics capabilities, research and development of advanced technologies and digital solutions, capital structure, and general corporate purposes, it said in a stock exchange filing.
Its shares opened 3 per cent lower at HK$44.80 in Hong Kong on Thursday, while its Shenzhen shares dropped 3 per cent to 48.80 yuan at the open.
The transactions represent Shenzhen-based SF's first offshore fundraising since its
initial public offering in Hong Kong in November, which
raised HK$5.83 billion and became a bellwether of a recent wave of mainland China-listed firms issuing Hong Kong shares, known as H shares.
SF plans to place 70 million H shares at HK$42.15 each, a discount of about 8.8 per cent to the closing price of HK$46.20 on Wednesday. The additional shares represent around 29.2 per cent of the enlarged H-share capital and about 1.4 per cent of total issued shares.
Meanwhile, the convertible bonds due in 2026 have an initial conversion price of HK$48.47 per share, a premium of around 4.9 per cent to Wednesday's closing price. When the stock hits the conversion price, these bonds will be converted into about 60.9 million H shares, representing about 26.4 per cent of the enlarged H-share capital and about 1.2 per cent of total issued shares.

Hong Kong Ferry buys New Territories retail space for US$33 million from ‘Cassette King'
Hong Kong Ferry Holdings is buying retail shops in the New Territories from Hong Kong's 'Cassette King' David Chan Ping-chi for HK$260 million (US$33 million) as part of an expansion of its property investment business. Prosper Link Investment, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, entered into a provisional agreement with the seller, Man Hei International Investment, to acquire various shops at Tai Hung Fai (Tsuen Wan) Centre at 55 Chung On Street in Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong Ferry said in a filing with the stock exchange on Tuesday night. The monthly rental and licence fee income in August was around HK$1.22 million, representing an annual gross rental yield of about 5.6 per cent based on the purchase price, the filing said, adding that the purchase would be financed by the group's internal resources. 'The group currently intends to hold the property for investment purposes to receive rental and licence income after completion,' the filing said. 'The acquisition is in line with the group's strategy and represents an expansion of the group's existing property investment business. 'Considering the prime location of the property in Tsuen Wan and the existing tenancies and licences, the board believes that the acquisition could derive rental income and enhance its income base.'

DJI faces new challenger as China's robot vacuum maker Dreame hires drone experts
Dreame Technology, a Chinese brand known for its robot vacuum cleaners, is actively recruiting drone experts in what is seen as a move to compete with DJI, the dominant player in the market, amid growing competition from innovative hardware start-ups. The company is advertising at least 10 positions – including drone navigation modelling algorithm engineer, drone test pilot, drone operations sales director and business director for the pan-aviation industry – according to job postings on the recruitment platform Boss Zhipin. The roles will be based either in Dreame's headquarters in Suzhou, a city in eastern Jiangsu province, or the Chinese drone hub of Shenzhen in southern Guangdong province, home to a vast drone supply chain network that supports DJI and other companies. Dreame has already recruited talent from DJI and food delivery giant Meituan, according to news portal Sina, which first reported on the expansion. Meituan had been developing drones for its logistics service since 2017 and used them to deliver more than 200,000 orders in 2024, nearly doubling the volume from the previous year, the company said. Swire Properties set to start selling Hong Kong's largest residential project in 20 years
Swire Properties, one of Hong Kong's largest developers, is set to start selling homes in its 850-unit, three-tower project on Hong Kong Island, its largest residential development in 20 years. Advertisement The company, one of the city's largest commercial landlords, said it would unveil the price list for the flats, which range from one to three bedrooms with areas from 400 sq ft to 1,400 sq ft, in the coming days. The project is developed jointly by Swire Properties and China Motor Bus Company. The launch of The Headland Residences in Chai Wan, which would have two phases, came at a good time, according to Adrian To, director of residential at Swire Properties. 'We have topped out the development already, and the market sentiment has improved quite a bit in the past six months,' he said in a press briefing on Wednesday, noting 'strong responses' from potential homebuyers that visited the project's showroom. The project is one of the largest residential projects on Hong Kong Island in recent years. Advertisement Last year, CK Asset Holdings launched the 1,200-unit Blue Coast project in the island's southern Wong Chuk Hang district. In January, New World Development launched the 388-unit State Pavilia, the first phase of its redevelopment project at the site of the former State Theatre in North Point. The city's housing market has shown early signs of recovery. Buying interest in the first-hand market improved in the first seven months of the year, with 5,981 flats sold, according to Midland Realty.
