Beyoncé kicks off her 'Cowboy Carter' tour: Live updates from L.A. on opening night
Beyoncé will take the stage at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 28 to launch her long-awaited Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour.
There will be cowboy hats. There will be Levi's Jeans. There will be fans from around the world getting the first glimpse of Beyoncé's vision for this 32-date tour that will travel to nine cities in the U.S. and Europe.
The USA TODAY Network will be there, as well, bringing you minute-by-minute concert coverage. Reporting from inside SoFi Stadium will be Beyoncé reporter Caché McClay, who has spent the past year covering all things "Cowboy Carter." Meanwhile, trending reporter Taylor Ardrey and Beyoncé editor Liz Schubauer will be at their desks, scouring live streams and social media.

Beyoncé's daughter Blue Ivy served as a dancer on her mom's Renaissance World Tour in 2023 and again during the Beyoncé Bowl NFL halftime show on Christmas Day. Will the 13-year-old be back to help bring "Cowboy Carter" to life on tour?
Other guests at the Beyoncé Bowl included Post Malone, Shaboozey and the Black female country artists featured on "Blackbiird," Beyoncé's cover of the Beatles song. Could Brittney Spencer, Tanner Adell, Reyna Roberts or Tiera Kennedy join Queen Bey in L.A.?
That halftime performance also featured Black rodeo stars and a striking white horse. Honoring rodeo culture and the Black roots of country music have been consistent themes during Bey's "Cowboy Carter" era and are likely to continue into the live show.
Other collaborators on the album included Linda Martell, Miley Cyrus, Willie Jones, Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson.

What should I know about SoFi Stadium?
Lucky enough to have tickets? Here's how to get around.
SoFi Stadium is located at 1001 Stadium Drive in Hollywood Park in Inglewood, California. Parking lots open at 4 p.m. PT, and doors at 5. The show will begin at 7. Concertgoers should enter at the Prairie Avenue and Arbor Vitae Street locations and follow signs to park in Lot N. Afterward, it is advised to enter SoFi Stadium at American Airlines VIP Entry 7.
Like any other stadium event, there are tight rules around personal items fans are allowed to bring inside. Ticketholders can bring a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc or similar) and small clutch bags, which cannot exceed 4 by 6 inches. Additionally, to accommodate guests who require medical items, clear plastic, vinyl or PVC totes that do not exceed 12 by 6 by 12 inches are approved.
Fans can save money by paying for parking online before arriving to the stadium. Parking zone maps show directions to each parking entry location. Rideshare pick-up and drop-off will be located on Kareem Court and Pincay Avenue.

If you can't make it to opening night in L.A., don't fret. There are still tickets available to upcoming concerts. The "Cowboy Carter" tour will span nine cities and 32 shows, including a hometown stop in Houston and some holiday performances that are sure to stand out — looking at you, July Fourth in Washington, D.C.

A new-to-Netflix Gerard Butler action-thriller has just dethroned "KPop Demon Hunters" as the streaming service's latest No. 1 movie. Back in 2023, Butler reteamed with director Ric Roman Waugh ("Angel Has Fallen", "Greenland") for "Kandahar," a spy action film that sees a covert CIA operative (Butler) and his translator trying to escape enemy territory. Fast forward to now, and "Kandahar" just recently came to Netflix, where the movie's managed to oust the streamer's animated musical sensation from the top spot. As someone who enjoys some of Butler's better action movies, I went in expecting a fairly disposable affair (and anticipating something lesser, if I'm honest). However, I was pleasantly surprised: while it's not about to go down as a genre classic, "Kandahar" is certainly better than its mixed reviews would suggest If you'd spotted "Kandahar" in Netflix's top 10 movies list, and were wondering whether to stream it for yourself, here's a little more info about the movie, and a round-up of reactions to help you make up your mind. Ric Roman Waugh's "Kandahar" is a 2023 action thriller movie that sees Gerard Butler starring as an undercover CIA operative who gets stuck in deep in hostile territory in Afghanistan. Following a sabotage mission in Iran, he's recruited by his handler for another covert op, but his cover is blown, and he's the subject of a manhunt. Accompanied by his translator, Mohammad "Mo" Doud (Navid Negahban), Harris faces the fight of his life to head to an extraction point in Kandahar, as elite enemy forces and foreign spies try to track them down. "Kandahar" is a perfectly fine watch. If you're in the mood for a bit of behind-enemy-lines tension or have an appetite for some adrenaline-fuelled action, your needs should be met here. As long as you don't mind waiting for that action, at least. It takes a fair while for things to kick into gear (we're talking close to an hour before the action starts), once Tom and Mo are on the run, "Kandahar" has decent thrills on offer. It makes some effort to lean further into the political issues behind its escape-from-enemy territory plot, but otherwise, "Kandahar" isn't really anything new. Tom Harris is your run-of-the-mill protagonist, with the same history and motivation you've seen these types have before, but Butler plays these characters well. "Kandahar" is not a movie that will break into my all-time favorites list, but it's also a cut above some of Butler's lesser efforts, and a movie that gets my recommendation. That said, "Kandahar" did prove a divisive watch among critics. At present, it holds a 45% score on Rotten Tomatoes (from 102 accredited reviews), with a brutal critics' consensus that reads "Gerard Butler remains a sturdy screen presence, but even for hardcore action fans, "Kandahar" is hardly worth watching." Glenn Kenny gave it a two-star rating, writing: "I'm all for a juicy, action-packed Gerard Butler movie. A Gerard Butler movie that wants to have its geopolitics taken seriously is a different matter. And honestly, it's an even more different matter when the movie is now particularly juicy or, you know, action-packed." Empire's John Nugent offered a more positive take in his 3-star review, describing "Kandahar" as "mostly mature, considered stuff, from a director-star combo who seem keen to defy expectations above their usual cheap-and-cheerful prospects." It's now been almost two years since Netflix's live-action remake of One Piecehad fans all over the world hooked – and the wait for the next part of the story is almost over. Netflix drops first trailer for one of my most anticipated dark thriller shows — and it's a bold twist on revenge
Every week, I like to scroll through Netflix's page for new and trending releases to see what's coming and what to keep on my radar. Months ago, I spotted the dark thriller series 'The Resurrected' in its coming soon section, with nothing but a mysterious cover image and a very brief synopsis. Even with just those scraps of information, my interest was piqued. 'The Resurrected' is a Taiwanese revenge thriller in which two desperate mothers resurrect the deceased ringleader of a telecommunications fraud ring to avenge their kidnapped daughters. It's not a premise I've ever come across before, as bringing someone back to life solely for revenge is a pretty wild hook. After months of waiting, we finally have our first trailer, along with a release date of October 9. That's pretty perfect timing for the Halloween lead-up. On death row, Chang Shih-kai (Fu Meng-Po) is strapped to the execution platform. His mother, Yueh-sin (Chung Hsin-ling), wears an unsettling smile as she looks on, while two women, Wang Hui-chun (Shu Qi) and Chao Ching (Sinje Lee), the relatives of his victims, watch with cold detachment. The execution is over in moments. For Wang, it brings no closure, only a sharper edge to her grief and fury. In a cruel twist, death feels less like justice for Chang and more like an escape. Refusing to let him slip away so easily, Wang and Chao perform a forbidden ritual that pulls him back from the grave, but only for seven days. In that brief span, Chang finds himself stripped of freedom and trapped in their unrelenting quest for vengeance, enduring both physical torment and moral reckoning. Of course, resurrecting such evil comes with consequences, and the trailer makes it clear that their revenge soon spirals out of control. Helmed by Leste Chen ('Eternal Summer') and Hsu Chao-jen ('Living'), this revenge thriller brings together a strong creative team. Leading the cast are internationally acclaimed actresses Shu Qi and Sinje Lee, making their first appearance in a Chinese-language Netflix series. The lineup also includes a special guest role from Golden Horse Award winner Alyssa Chia. Shu Qi said (h/t Variety): 'I'm really looking forward to it. When I first received the script, I felt it was a bold and groundbreaking story — not just for me as an actress, but also for Chinese-language series in general. I've already seen some rough cuts during dubbing, but when I saw the teaser, I still went, 'Wow!'' Sinje Lee also added: 'I've never encountered a female-driven story that's so intense, a little wild, and deeply emotional. It was such a thrill to be a part of it, and of course, I'm even more excited for the day we get to share it with audiences around the world.' 'The Resurrected' is already on my must-watch list, and I'm even more excited for the colder months to roll around. Being a Halloween lover, I'm always on the lookout for darker thrillers to dive into, and Netflix is delivering with this supernatural series dropping at the start of October. Even better, the first two episodes will be showcased at the 30th Busan International Film Festival this September, so we're bound to start seeing early reactions and buzz well before the official release. The premise alone has me hooked because it feels fresh compared to the usual revenge thrillers. The idea of bringing someone back to life for revenge is a bold concept and one I haven't really seen before.
