Union minister Kiren Rijiju said the Business Advisory Committee had taken the decision to hold a special discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
He said while the Opposition wanted to address several issues, it was agreed that the debate on Operation Sindoor would be held first.
The Opposition parties, including the Congress, had written to the government demanding a discussion on Operation Sindoor before the commencement of the Parliament's Monsoon Session.

Karnataka IT Minister Priyank Kharge on Tuesday said the state is talking to companies to evaluate the impact of AI on workforce and the assessment is expected to be completed in about a month. The comment assumes significance in the backdrop of TCS' decision to slash 12,000 jobs this year. The unexpected move by India's largest IT services company has sent fresh tremors in the tech industry, that has been battling global macroeconomic woes and geopolitical uncertainty. We are getting a survey done with the companies on AI affect in workforce," Kharge told PTI on sidelines of SAP Labs India event. He added that the process is expected to be completed in about a month. It is pertinent to mention here that India's top IT services companies have delivered single-digit revenue growth in Q1 FY26, capping off a somewhat-sobering June quarter as macroeconomic instability and geopolitical tensions have weighed on global tech demand and delayed client decision making.

MoSPI proposes new base years for IIP, GDP & CPI
Synopsis The government plans to update the base years for key economic indicators. The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will shift to a 2022-23 base year, while the Consumer Price Index (CPI) will be rebased to 2024. Agencies Image for representation The government has proposed 2022-23 as the new base year for the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and 2024 for the Consumer Price Index (CPI), Parliament was informed on the base year for both IIP and GDP is 2011-12, while it is 2012 for CPI. The new CPI will draw weight of items from the Household Consumption Expenditure Survey 2023-24."The Ministry is underway to revise the base year of GDP, IIP, and CPI," MoS for Statistics and Programme Implementation Rao Inderjit Singh informed Lok Sabha.
