Take-Two boss has zero interest in playing GTA 6: 'I'm not a gamer'
GTA 6 might be the most anticipated game on the planet, but one of the few people who has access to Rockstar's sequel is simply not bothered about playing it.
Take-Two's Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Rockstar's parent company, made an appearance on CNBC to discuss the company's financial results for Q4 2025 and GTA 6, which has been pushed back to May 26, 2026.
Zelnick described the delay as being from a 'desire to polish and create the best experience for consumers', but things took a personal turn when he was asked if he had played the game in question.
'I'm not a gamer,' Zelnick said, avoiding the question. 'I don't play video games [at all]. I'm not the consumer-in-chief.'
When asked if he gives Rockstar notes when he's shown the game, Zelnick replied: 'I share my opinions pretty openly. I think being the consumer-in-chief in the entertainment business as the CEO is probably a mistake.'
Zelnick, who previously worked for Columbia Pictures Television and 20th Century Fox, explained how he's never been actively involved in any creative work during his career – even in the TV and music business, despite calling himself a 'musician'.
'That's not my role,' he added. 'My role is to attract, retain, and motivate the best talent in the business, and then get out of their way.'
While he's certainly not the first CEO of a games company who doesn't actually play games, it's odd that he doesn't appear to have any curiosity about playing GTA 6. More Trending
Still, he's not shy about making some bold claims about the sequel. When addressing the reason behind the game's delay, Zelnick said: 'Rockstar is trying to create the best thing anyone has ever seen in entertainment, not just interactive entertainment. That's a tall order. And I think consumers have huge hopes for the title.'
Last week, Zelnick described the delay as necessary to allow Rockstar to fulfil its 'creative vision' for GTA 6 'with no limitations'.
Along with GTA 6, Rockstar is rumoured to be working on a Red Dead Redemption 2 port for Switch 2, and a remaster of GTA 4.

Lewis Hamilton admits he's cancelling work just to play new video game
Lewis Hamilton has always been a keen gamer but there's one upcoming title he's looking forward to above all else. With video games more mainstream than they've ever been, it shouldn't be surprising whenever a celebrity expresses an interest in them, but somehow it still is, like when Andor actor Muhannad Ben Amor joined the call for a new Star Wars Battlefront. Seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton has always described himself as a 'big gamer'; so much so that he plans to cancel all his work plans just to play a certain game when it launches. Unsurprisingly, the game in question is GTA 6, easily the most anticipated video game in history, to the point where many expect its success to help prop up the wider games industry. Hamilton shared his enthusiasm during an interview following the Belgium Grand Prix, which took place last weekend, with the GTA 6 part shared online by fan account LH44(A). 'I'm dying for the new Grand Theft Auto to come out,' said Hamilton, a sentiment shared by everyone else considering it's been over a decade since GTA 5 arrived. 'I'll have to cancel all my work when that game comes out,' Hamilton added. Again, this is something many others are likely planning as well, which is easy to organise since GTA 6 has a set launch date of May 26. If you're curious, according to the 2026 F1 calendar, GTA 6's launch happens to take place a couple of days after the Canada Grand Prix wraps up and about a week and a half before the Monaco Grand Prix. So, Hamilton will have some free time to himself to enjoy GTA 6. More Trending That's assuming GTA 6 isn't hit with a second delay (something that other games publishers are worried about) although that hopefully shouldn't happen since developer Rockstar Games is gearing up for a global promotional campaign. Hamilton also mentioned that he enjoys playing the Call Of Duty and Assassin's Creed games as well as the Gran Turismo racing sims. In fact, back in 2016 he was in Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare. This is in stark contrast to Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick who, despite overseeing GTA 6's launch and hyping it up, has expressed zero interest in playing it himself or any other video games. 90s Nintendo classic Mario Paint is now on Switch 2 with mouse controls
Even if you don't own a Nintendo Switch 2 yet, you can still access a surprise retro re-release of Mario Paint on Nintendo Switch Online. When Nintendo announced Donkey Kong Bananza would come with a separate DK Artist mode, where you can use the Nintendo Switch 2's mouse controls to carve and decorate sculptures, everyone was immediately reminded of 1992's Mario Paint for the SNES. Mario Paint wasn't a game but a 2D art package, that came bundled with its own mouse, that was also used in a few other games such as SimCity. It's never had a modern equivalent, beyond DK Artist, but now the original game is available again on Switch 1 and 2. It's obviously been kept back to till now to show off the mouse functionality of the Switch 2's new Joy-Cons, which allow you to use Mario Paint as it was originally intended. Mario Paint is far more in-depth than DK Artist, as not only can you draw and paint your own pictures, but you can also make music and even animate your creations. Modern Nintendo fans may recognise some elements of Mario Paint from the WarioWare series, which has often referenced Mario Paint through some of its microgames. For example, one microgame is a truncated version of the fly swatting minigame from Mario Paint. The fly swatter also appears as an assist trophy in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Nintendo made the announcement through a charming new trailer, showcasing all the different features and confirming the game's compatibility with the Switch 2's mouse controls, which we've tested ourselves and can corroborate. We did have some trouble trying to access the SNES Classics app though, if it wasn't already downloaded, but hopefully that's just a temporary problem. Since Mario Paint is part of the Nintendo Classics SNES library, you do need an online subscription to play it, but it's fortunately not a Switch 2 exclusive and thus accessible on Switch 1 as well. More Trending You may wonder how that's possible when the Switch 1 lacks mouse controls (which are mandatory for playing Mario Paint), but you can plug a compatible USB mouse into the console and use that. A quick glance at social media shows plenty of Nintendo fans are thrilled to see Mario Paint return and have already put together some impressive art pieces. To coincide with the release, Nintendo has also added the Mario Paint soundtrack to its Nintendo Music app. It's not an especially large soundtrack though, at only 19 songs. With any luck, Mario Paint's addition will lead to Nintendo adding more mouse compatible games to its retro library, especially strategy games and first person shooters – and perhaps more productivity software. Kinross primed for another Lennox tussle at Goodwood
The popular eight-year-old has been a standing dish in this contest on the Sussex Downs, taking home the first prize in 2021 and 2023. After showing no signs of decline when reappearing with a narrow defeat in Haydock's John of Gaunt Stakes, he now makes his fifth appearance in Tuesday's Group Two event, looking to better last year's third. 'He's been great since Haydock,' said Jamie McCalmont, racing manager for owner Marc Chan. 'I would say it's as competitive as any other Lennox he has run in, that's for sure. It's a very open race, but we go there in good shape. 'Every race is a bonus for him at this stage of his career, so fingers crossed he runs well.' Andrew Balding struck with Sandrine in 2022 and attempts to repeat the dose with Jonquil, who returns to the distance over which he landed the Greenham Stakes after failing to figure down at six furlongs in the Commonwealth Cup. Also bidding to bounce back to his best is John and Thady Gosden's Audience, who took home the spoils impressively 12 months ago but has struggled to trouble the judge since. Gosden said: 'He hasn't quite repeated last year's run yet. We sent him down to Dubai, which might not have been the smartest move in the world, running him over six furlongs. 'He's well in himself and happy. He enjoys the track and I think he'll run a big race again.' It was Ed Walker's Ten Bob Tony who denied the aforementioned Kinross earlier in the season. He has been freshened up since that victory in Lancashire and his handler said: 'Ten Bob Tony loves a bit of ease in the ground and goes well fresh. 'It was a huge performance to come back and beat Kinross at Haydock and he's obviously a very talented horse. 'He's a real yard favourite, he's completely chilled, a real kind, straightforward horse to deal with.' Walker in fact holds a strong hand in the seven-furlong event and will also saddle his Jersey Stakes scorer Noble Champion, who represents the same owners and will be ridden, like at Royal Ascot, by Kieran Shoemark. 'Ascot wasn't a surprise at all, as he's always been an exceptionally good work horse,' continued Walker. 'He's exuberant and playful, and the set up was ideal, although I do worry about the nature of Goodwood compared to Ascot as it's a completely different track. 'We've always had huge belief in this horse. On his day when everything's right, he's very, very good. 'It's quite hard to get everything right with him, but I think when he gets it right, he's an exceptional horse and he has been flying since Ascot.'
