Originally, Sar Aankhon Pe Mere was recorded by Shariva Parulkar as a scratch version in Chennai, as no other singer was available at the time. Aamir and director RS Prasanna were so impressed by her rendition that they decided to keep her vocals for the final version. A girl who considered singing just a hobby has made an outstanding debut as a playback singer in an Aamir Khan film – the tale behind the song is even more beautiful.

Produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, Sitaare Zameen Par features Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles, alongside the 10 rising stars. The film's song lyrics are penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya, and the music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The screenplay is crafted by Divy Nidhi Sharma.
