Hong Kong police arrest man on suspicion of pushing boy, 9, into sea
Police said the man, surnamed Wong, was apprehended in Kowloon City at 5.22pm on Tuesday, three days after the incident, on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
They added that the arrest was made after police reviewed CCTV footage. Officers searching his flat also found the clothes he allegedly wore while committing the offence.
'When police arrived at the scene, the boy had a lot of scratches on his body. He was conscious and was discharged from hospital after treatment,' a police spokesman said on Wednesday.
The suspect is currently being held in custody for further investigation.
The manhunt started after the boy was pushed into the sea while he was fishing on a staircase along King Wan Street near Hoi Sham Park at around 5.40pm on Saturday.

Hong Kong customs ‘powerless to stop fake Labubu, Chiikawa toys without records'
Hong Kong customs has approached the trademark owners of popular brands Labubu and Chiikawa to establish records that will help combat counterfeits, with the Post learning the city currently has no way of cracking down on fakes featuring the characters. 'The department is greatly concerned about the matter and has proactively reached out to the relevant trademark owners for liaison and follow-up [action],' he said. The source said that trademark holders had a procedure to conduct with customs' Recordation Office so the department could investigate suspected piracy or counterfeiting activities and seize goods. Louis Vuitton Hong Kong faces probe for data breach affecting 419,000 customers
The privacy watchdog has launched an investigation after Louis Vuitton Hong Kong suffered a data breach that compromised the personal information of about 419,000 customers in the city. According to the company, its French head office initially detected suspicious activity within its computer system on June 13. It was later confirmed on July 2 that the incident had impacted the city's customers, with Louis Vuitton Hong Kong becoming aware on the same day, the watchdog said. It added that preliminary findings indicated that the breach exposed a range of personal data belonging to about 419,000 Hong Kong customers. This included names, passport numbers, dates of birth, addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, shopping history and product preferences. 'The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data has launched an investigation into Louis Vuitton Hong Kong in accordance with established procedures, including whether the incident involved delayed notification. No related complaints or inquiries have been received so far,' it said.
