Nigerian University Staff Frisk Female Students To Enforce 'No Bra, No Entry' Rule, Sparks Outrage
A Nigerian university faced widespread backlash after a video showed female staff frisking students to check if they were wearing bras before an exam surfaced online. The incident occurred at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) in Ogun State, where a now-viral video shows female invigilators physically touching students' chests to enforce the school's controversial 'No Bra, No Entry" rule for exam halls.
The footage, widely shared on social media, drew swift criticism online, with many social media users condemning the act as harassment and a violation of students' rights.
'This is harassment. People have different reasons for not wearing bras," posted one user on X while another added, 'That's a human rights violation. Sue them!!!"

Muizz Olatunji, president of the university's Students' Union Government, defended the policy in a post on X, saying it was not new. He wrote, ''No bra, no entry' is not a new policy in Olabisi Onabanjo University", adding that the school promotes 'modest dressing" to ensure a 'distraction-free environment."
He also claimed the policy aimed to prevent 'indecent dressing capable of making the opposite sex unnecessarily lust after them." However, Muizz Olatunji acknowledged the backlash and said the union would hold talks with university authorities to explore 'more respectful and dignified" alternatives to such enforcement.

Most Nigerian universities enforce strict dress codes, particularly for women. Male students, too, face restrictions- such as bans on dreadlocks or earrings. But activists have called for accountability and reform, arguing that such policies disproportionately target women and blur the lines between discipline and violation.

Drug supplier and peddler nabbed; MDMA, marijuana seized
An interstate drug supplier and a local peddler were arrested by the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), along with Domalguda police, on Wednesday. Narcotics and other items worth ₹7.3 lakh were seized from them. The accused were identified as Nikhil S., 19, a student from Bengaluru, and Raghavendra Rao, 27, a private employee from Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. Police seized 12.57 grams of MDMA, 305 grams of marijuana, a four-wheeler, three mobile phones, ₹1,080 cash and empty packing sachets. 'Raghavendra, originally from Machilipatnam, ran a medical agency that collapsed due to business losses. To recover the money, he turned to drug trade, initially selling marijuana procured from Sileru, Andhra Pradesh. He was arrested in 2023 with 7 kg marijuana and spent 11 months in jail. Since then, he has been booked in five more NDPS cases across Andhra Pradesh,' police said. Later, he allegedly expanded his MDMA business to fund his drug use and lifestyle. He sourced the substance from Nikhil, whom he met on Instagram. 'Nikhil, currently pursuing a BCA in Bengaluru, had developed a habit of using MDMA with friends and connected with Nigerian suppliers through the 'dead drop' method, with payments routed via UPI. He then supplied MDMA to local peddlers like Raghavendra at higher prices,' police said. The arrests were made following credible information. The accused were booked under Sections 8(c), 22(c), and 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act, 1985. The public have been asked to report information on drug abuse to the H-NEW helpline at 8712661601.

Bengaluru student, Hyderabad techie held with drugs worth Rs 7.3 lakh
Hyderabad, Aug 20 (PTI) A 19-year-old student from Bengaluru and a 27-year-old private firm employee were arrested on Monday for allegedly peddling narcotics worth Rs 7.3 lakh, police said. Acting on a tip-off, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) apprehended the duo on August 19 in the limits of Domalguda Police Station, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Task Force) Y V S Sudheendra said in a release. Police seized 12.57 grams of MDMA, 305 grams of ganja, a car and three mobile phones from their possession. Two Africans held with MDMA worth Rs 5 crore
BENGALURU: The Electronics City police arrested two Africans, including a woman, for allegedly peddling narcotics in the city. The police seized 2.15 kg of MDMA crystals worth Rs 5 crore from them. The accused were identified as Joel Kabong (28), a Congo national and a resident of Hulimavu, who came to India in 2013 on a student visa, and his friend Joy Sunday (22), who arrived three years ago on a student visa. According to the police, based on a tip-off on August 15, Kabong was caught near Bettadasanapura while selling MDMA. On the same day, Joy was also arrested for her involvement with Kabong. Both had overstayed in India even after their visas expired and got involved in drug trafficking. The police added that Angolano (30), a Nigerian, who was supplying drugs to the duo at a cheaper price, is absconding. A manhunt has been launched to trace him. In a separate case, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) Anti-Narcotics Wing arrested another drug peddler, John D'Costa, who came to India in 2024 on a tourist visa. He had started a garment business in Delhi before shifting to Avalahalli last year and was allegedly involved in peddling drugs alongside his trade. The CCB officials seized 255 grams of MDMA crystals worth Rs 40 lakh from him. Meanwhile, the North Division police arrested four persons, including three interstate accused, for allegedly being involved in drug peddling. The police seized over 140 grams of MDMA worth Rs 18 lakh from them.
