Australian Will Genia retires from rugby after a 110-test career that included 3 World Cups

SYDNEY (AP) — Three-time Rugby World Cup player and 110-test Australian veteran Will Genia announced his retirement from the sport on Thursday at the age of 37. Genia confirmed his retirement on his Instagram page, telling followers he will transition into the role of skills coach at Japanese rugby side Kintetsu with long-time teammate Quade Cooper. Genia will finish his career as the seventh most-capped Wallaby. In November 2018, he became the 10th Australian, and the second scrumhalf after George Gregan, to reach 100 tests when he ran out against England at Twickenham. He finishes his career with a Super Rugby title, a Tri-Nations title, a Rugby Championship title and a European Rugby Challenge title with Stade Français, as well as making the 2015 Rugby World Cup final. 'From walking in to Ballymore at the end of 2006 as a kid, to travelling the world chasing a ball, it has been more than I ever thought it would be, so much so that it feels like a dream is all it should be,' Genia wrote. Cooper was one of the first to pay credit to his long-time playing partner. 'What a ride my brother. Who would have guessed way back then,' Cooper responded on Genia's Instagram page. 'It's funny because we always seemed to find each other through changes in coaches (who I mostly clashed with) to countries, teams and now the other side. It's been a pleasure and grateful to have done it with you.' ___

Lakers jersey history No. 4 — Ryan Kelly

Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary. As the Lakers approach their 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years. Let's take a look at Ryan Kelly, a forward who played for the Lakers during the 2010s. Kelly was a stretch 4 and a potent 3-point shooter at Duke University. While there, he won a men's NCAA championship in 2010 and made 37.9% of his 3-point attempts. The Lakers made him the No. 48 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He spent three seasons with them and averaged 6.5 points on 38.1% overall shooting and 31.3% from downtown, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 20.5 minutes a game during that time. After playing for the Atlanta Hawks during the 2016-17 season, Kelly went on to play pro basketball in Spain and Japan. He's currently a member of the Fukui Blowinds, a team that plays in the Japanese

PSG, Tottenham Receive Good News on Everton Target as Atletico Madrid Offer Rejected

With just days remaining in the summer transfer window, PSG face questions about whether they will make one or two moves before it closes. One area the Parisians could strengthen is the depth of their attack. Fichajes recently reported that Takefusa Kubo is on PSG's radar, though any deal would likely hinge on Kang-in Lee's potential departure amid ongoing transfer rumors. Last season, Kubo scored eight goals and added six assists, establishing himself as one of La Liga's most productive wingers. Everton have also reportedly contacted Real Sociedad about a possible move for the Japanese star, according to Fabrizio Romano. Real Sociedad reject offer for PSG, Tottenham targetFichajes reports that Atlético de Madrid are eager to bring Kubo from Real Sociedad. The Madrid club has reportedly offered €35 million plus goalkeeper Carlos Marín, a standout in Atlético's reserve team. However, Real Sociedad's response was firm: they won't negotiate for less than €60 million, close to Kubo's release clause. The report mention that from the player's point of view, the situation is complicated. Kubo feels at home at Real Sociedad, where he plays a key role and enjoys strong support from the fans. On top of that, the Basque club will compete in European competitions, giving him an international stage to keep developing. Recently, Fichajes reported that Kubo's future is making headlines in the summer transfer window. The Japanese winger has requested to leave Real Sociedad, sparking interest from three major European clubs: Atlético de Madrid, Tottenham, and PSG.
