Axed F1 boss Christian Horner linked with bombshell move
The 51-year-old is now on gardening leave for the rest of the year and will be weighing up his options from January 2026.

Rumours have been swirling around over the Brit's potential destinations - including a shock move to Ferrari, The Sun reports.
Reports in Italian and German media begun claiming in May that Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur's position is under threat.
Vasseur hit out at the reports and said they were 'disrespectful' and 'very harsh'.
But German outlet BILD has added fuel to the fire, claiming that Ferrari had made 'informal' contact with Horner.
Horner dismissed the report - but speculation will continue to grow as the weeks go by with him sitting on the sidelines.
Come the Belgian Grand Prix later this month, Horner will be missing from the F1 paddock for the first time in nearly 21 years.
And Horner, who won six constructors' championships and eight drivers' titles with Red Bull, will no doubt be getting itchy feet soon.
If Horner did pen an unlikely move at Ferrari it would see him form a wild pairing with his old rival, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton has a Ferrari contract until at least the end of 2026 and is already a huge voice within the Italian team.
It is likely he would not be impressed if Horner replaced Vasseur, given he is a big fan of the Frenchman and has thrown his support behind him in public.
When Vasseur's future was under speculation, Hamilton said: 'I love working with Fred – Fred's the main reason I'm in this team and got the opportunity to be here, for which I'm forever grateful for, and we're in this together.
'We're working hard in the background, things aren't perfect but, for me, I'm here to work with the team but also with Fred.
'I want Fred here. I do believe Fred is the person to take us to the top, so that's that. So it's all nonsense.'
Hamilton took a strong take on Horner's alleged 'inappropriate behaviour' with a female colleague last year.
The ex-Red Bull boss was twice cleared from it by an independent investigation but Hamilton said it was 'hanging over the sport' and said the outcome was 'important for the future of F1'.
He also hit out at Horner in 2023 for 'stirring' when he claimed Hamilton tried to join his team after leaving Mercedes.
At the time Horner said that a member of Hamilton's team had been in touch over a possible switch to Red Bull earlier in the year.
Hamilton rebuffed it and said Horner had actually been the one to text him and try set up a meeting.
Obviously there was bad blood going back between the two during Hamilton and Max Verstappen's fierce and controversial title fight in 2021 which reached its crescendo in the contentious season finale in Abu Dhabi.
Recently, with Horner still at Red bull, Hamilton admitted he regretted referring to Red Bull as a 'drinks company' in 2011.
His comments suggested that he is previous beef with Horner was water under the bridge.
At Silverstone he said: 'Many, many years ago, I remember saying something about Red Bull being only a drinks company.
'I always regretted it because I was just saying that Mercedes at the time were great.
'I was really just trying to gee up my team. But the truth is, Red Bull have been an incredible team. There are so many people there that are exceptional and they've dominated for years.'
Horner makes his feelings on Hamilton known
It feels like Horner would have no qualms working with the British 40-year-old, who he has praised in public this season.
Speaking earlier in the year, Horner said of Hamilton's Ferrari move: 'I've seen some pictures, I think it [Ferrari red] suits him.
'It's great for Formula 1. Lewis Hamilton in a Ferrari – that really is box office.
'I think it's just another dynamic for this year that could be super exciting.'
Back in 2023, Horner was asked whether he would sign Hamilton for Red Bull.
He replied: 'What Lewis has achieved in F1 is second to none, but we're very happy with the drivers that we have – they're committed as a pair for not only this season but the next season as well.
'I can't see where we would be able to accommodate Lewis, but I'm sure they're (Mercedes) going to sort their issues out and we're certainly not writing him off yet.'

Tour de France spectator hit by team car as Thymen Arensman claims toughest stage
Dutch rider Thymen Arensman has won the Tour de France's toughest stage after a long solo effort over mammoth climbs, while defending champion Tadej Pogačar increased his overall lead. But Arensman's Ineos-Grenadiers team received a fine and a yellow card after its team car struck a spectator. Arensman posted the biggest victory of his career. After crossing the finish line in the deep fog enveloping the ski resort of Superbagnères, Arensman lay exhausted on the road with his head in his hands. "To be honest, I just wanted to experience the Tour, the biggest race in the world," he said. "Now, to win a stage in my first Tour, and to do it this way, it's unbelievable, crazy." He went solo with 37 kilometres left from a breakaway, and quickly opened a comfortable lead. He started the final ascent to Superbagnères, which is more than 12 kilometres long, on his own and resisted the return of the main contenders. It was Arensman's second Grand Tour stage win, having previously won a stage at the 2022 Spanish Vuelta. As Arensman posed no threat to the overall standings, Pogačar and his teammates controlled the race from the back, with the yellow jersey holder and his main challenger Jonas Vingegaard trailing by about three minutes with 8 kilometres remaining. Vingegaard tried a move with 4 kilometres left and Pogačar responded with ease. The two rivals then watched each other closely and Arensman crossed first at the summit, more than one minute ahead of the duo. Having won the previous two stages in the Pyrenees, Pogačar settled for second place. He accelerated in the final section to gain more time on Vingegaard, who completed the stage podium. Overall, Pogačar increased his lead over Vingegaard to four minutes, 13 seconds, with Florian Lipowitz in third place, 7:53 off the pace after Remco Evenepoel abandoned. Meanwhile, a spectator who was cheering riders was hit by a car from the Ineos-Grenadiers team in the Pyrenees. TV footage of the race showed the team car knocking down the fan who was holding what looked liked a mobile phone about 200 metres from the top of the Col de Peyresourde. The vehicle was following riders on the steep ascent and driving at moderate speed. There was no immediate information available on the spectator's condition. The race jury later said Ineos Grenadiers sports director Oliver Cookson was fined for "improper behaviour endangering spectators" and handed a yellow card. Accumulating yellow cards over a defined period of time results in a suspension. Ineos-Grenadiers apologised "to the fan who was accidentally and regretfully struck by one of our race cars while supporting the riders". Scottie Scheffler builds on Open Championship lead as Rory McIlroy lights up Royal Portrush
The imperious Scottie Scheffler will go into the final round of the British Open with a commanding four-shot lead — and with only the naggingly ominous vision of a charging home idol Rory McIlroy in his rear-view mirror. The masterful American world number one kept his eyes firmly on the Claret Jug during Saturday's third-round moving day, heading inexorably towards his fourth major with a consummate, bogey-free round of 67, leaving him on 14-under for the Championship. It's left the 29-year-old a prohibitive favourite, with China's Li Haotong his nearest if still distant challenger, and English hope Matt Fitzpatrick, a former US Open champ, a further shot adrift at 9-under. Still, though, it may be the thought of the continuing magic that McIlroy could yet again produce at 8-under, inspired by his home army of fans, that may preoccupy the PGA champ. Masters champ McIlroy was inspired at times on Saturday, what with his three birdies to start in just four holes, kicked off by a 36 foot curler at the first, then an amazing 56 foot putt for eagle at the 12th that sent the locals wild. He was even magic when he didn't intend to be. At the 11th, he hit out of the rough and managed to dislodge a previously buried ball. He ended up bogeying that one, but it still couldn't halt his pied piper progress as he ended with a 5-under 66. At six shots behind, he's not given up hope of catching the seemingly uncatchable. "Scottie Scheffler is inevitable," McIlroy said. "Even when he doesn't have his best stuff, he's become a complete player. "It's going to be tough to catch him tomorrow if he keeps playing the way he does. "But if I can get off to a similar start to what I did today, get the crowd going, hopefully he feels that a couple of groups behind me, and you never know." The way Scheffler is playing, though, McIlroy might have to dream up something as absurd as the 61 that he famously shot at Portrush as a 16-year-old. That inevitability of Scheffler was on view throughout. The inevitability of sheer solidity hole after hole, with the odd starburst thrown in, like the laser 206-yard approach to within 10 feet of the pin for eagle at the seventh. The inevitability of three 10-footers holed to save par. Crushingly for his pursuers, he did not drop a shot all round. Li meanwhile has been a revelation but his third dropped shot all week at the 18th felt a fatal error as he finished with a 69. Former A-League star Nestory Irankunda signs five-year deal with Watford
Nestory Irankunda's move from Bayern Munich to Watford has been confirmed, with the former A-League prodigy signing a five-year deal with the English Championship club. Having spent the second half of last season on loan to Swiss club Grashoppers, Irankunda has now made a permanent move away from Germany after the Bundesliga champions and the Hornets agreed to the sale for a fee reportedly worth more than $5 million.
