Oman steps up diplomatic push to ease regional tensions
These efforts are guided by Oman's consistent foreign policy approach, which is rooted in constructive dialogue, adherence to international law, and the pursuit of peaceful solutions as the cornerstone of regional security and stability.
Reflecting its strategic vision and credibility as a trusted mediator, Oman participated in the 48th Extraordinary Session of the GCC Ministerial Council, held on Monday.
H E Sayyid Badr al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, led the sultanate's delegation at the session, which was convened to address the rapidly evolving regional developments.
In a joint statement issued following the meeting, the GCC condemned the Israeli attacks on Iranian territory, describing them as a clear violation of national sovereignty and international law. The Council called for urgent de-escalation and the resumption of diplomatic negotiations. The statement also commended Oman's ongoing efforts to facilitate dialogue, particularly on the Iranian nuclear file, which remains a critical component of regional stability.
In parallel with the Council's deliberations, H E Sayyid Badr continued intensive telephone consultations with counterparts from several countries, as well as key international stakeholders. These included discussions with Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission.
The consultations focused on aligning international positions and strengthening political and legal pressure to immediately halt Israeli attacks. They also explored avenues to revive comprehensive negotiations aimed at restoring regional stability and averting the risks of further military escalation.

Tanks also destroyed several houses in the east of Khan Yunis in south Gaza, while in the centre, Israeli gunfire killed nine aid-seekers in two separate incidents, Palestinian medics said. Hamas chief negotiator Khalil al Hayya's meetings with Egyptian officials in Cairo on Wednesday were to focus on stopping the war, delivering aid and 'ending the suffering of our people in Gaza,' Hamas official Taher al Nono said in a statement. Oman condemns Israeli PM's ‘Greater Israel' remarks, reaffirms support to Palestine
By OUR CORRESPONDENT Muscat -The Foreign Ministry of Oman has strongly condemned recent statements by the Israeli Prime Minister regarding the so-called 'Greater Israel', expressing its categorical rejection of any illegal expansionist plans that violate international law and undermine the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry described such proposals as a direct threat to regional security and stability, warning that they exacerbate hostility and tension at a time when the region urgently needs calm, cooperation, and respect for the principles of sovereignty and good neighbourliness. Oman reaffirmed its unwavering stance in supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of regional states, firmly rejecting any attempts to alter political geography or weaken national entities. The statement reiterated the Sultanate's steadfast support for the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. The Ministry also urged the international community to take a firm stand against such aggressive policies and work towards safeguarding Palestinian rights, ensuring the achievement of a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

Ankara, Damascus warn Israel over Syria action
ANKARA: Türkiye's foreign minister and his Syrian counterpart on Wednesday warned Israel not to stir up chaos in Syria and demanded an end to all external interventions aimed at destabilising the war-torn country. "Certain actors are bothered by the positive developments in Syria," Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said after talks with Syria's Asaad al Shaibani in Ankara. "Israel is currently one of the biggest actors in this dark picture," he said of its ongoing military incursions since the overthrow of Syrian strongman Bashar al Assad late last year. "The emergence of chaos in Syria... appears to have become a priority for Israel's own national security," he said. Standing next to him, Al Shaibani also warned against efforts to foster chaos in Syria. "We're facing new challenges that are no less dangerous than those we encountered during the years of war, foremost among them are repeated Israeli threats... through air strikes," he said. Fidan said efforts to destabilise Syria could be clearly seen in the March bloodshed in the coastal Latakia and in the recent deadly violence that gripped the southwestern province of Sweida as well as in the northeast. — AFP
