Morgan Wallen's Clean Sweep Blocked By One Historically-Huge Single

Forbes02-04-2025

Morgan Wallen is a hit machine, and at this point, that's not up for debate, no matter how people may feel about his life outside the music. The country star regularly floods the charts with new smashes, and this week, he nearly accomplishes something remarkable: claiming the entire top five on Billboard's Hot Country Songs ranking. He comes close to doing so, but he's edged out of the top spot by a track that refuses to let go.
Wallen lands two brand new hits on this week's Hot Country Songs chart, the ranking that lists the most-consumed country tracks in the U.S. based on a combination of streaming, sales, and radio play. His new single 'Just in Case' arrives at No. 2, and it nearly gives him yet another No. 1. The second of his new releases, 'I'm a Little Crazy,' opens at No. 5 at the same time.
Holding Wallen back from reclaiming the throne on Hot Country Songs is Shaboozey's breakout smash 'A Bar Song (Tipsy).' That tune rebounds from No. 2 to No. 1 this frame, demonstrating its continued widespread appeal.
'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' isn't new to this ranking. The track has now spent 50 weeks on the 50-position list. Remarkably, 39 of those have been spent at No. 1. That certifies the cut as one of the longest-running leaders in the chart's history, and as one of the most successful country singles of all time in the U.S.
Wallen has already racked up 10 No. 1 hits on the Hot Country Songs chart. While he doesn't score an eleventh winner this week, he does add to his list of top 10 wins. With 'Just in Case' and 'I'm a Little Crazy' both debuting inside the upper tier, Wallen's count rises to 33 placements inside the top 10.
'Just in Case' and 'I'm a Little Crazy' were released together as something like a double single, though it's clear which tune is getting the real promotional push. 'Just in Case' serves as the latest proper single from Wallen's upcoming album I'm the Problem, which is slated to arrive later this spring.
Wallen dominates this week's Hot Country Songs chart, and his success extends beyond only his two new arrivals. With 'Just in Case' and 'I'm a Little Crazy' starting at Nos. 2 and 5, he nearly claims the entire top five on the tally. His singles 'I'm the Problem' and 'Love Somebody' settle in at Nos. 3 and 4, sandwiched between the just-dropped smashes. Just outside that range is 'I Had Some Help,' a former No. 1 collaboration with Post Malone, which slips slightly to No. 6.
If 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' was performing slightly worse, Wallen may have had a shot at controlling the top five. That's a feat he'll likely manage when his album reaches the charts, but to do so with a number of concurrent singles would have been astounding.

Mariah Carey Is Ready to Risk It All in Casino-Themed ‘Type Dangerous' Music Video Teaser

Last week, Mariah Carey dropped her first proper single in years — and now, 'Type Dangerous' is getting a music video, as revealed Monday (June 9). As teased in a clip posted by the vocalist on her socials, MC's new visual will arrive on Friday (June 13). The preview finds a characteristically glamorous Carey walking into a casino in a sparkling floor-length dress. The vibes are fun and carefree, with the exception of a hint of danger when the camera pans to a man holding a knife behind his back. The 'Type Dangerous' music video will arrive exactly one week after the song dropped on June 6. Carey teased the new single for a few days prior to its release, also hinting in one post that her long-awaited 16th album would be following soon after. The Songbird Supreme hasn't dropped an album since 2018's Caution, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200. Carey's video announcement also came on the same day she gave 'Type Dangerous' its live performance debut at the 2025 BET Awards, where she was also honored with the Ultimate Icon title. 'My life and career have been quite the adventure,' the superstar said while accepting the award, which marked her first-ever BET honor. 'It took me a while, but I realized life is far too short to live for anyone else's approval.' See Carey's video preview below. Miley Cyrus Bangerz Era, Hip-Hop Comments Divide Fans

In 2017, Miley Cyrus released her sixth studio album Younger Now, which was described by Pitchfork as a bold 'statement of reinvention' following her infamous Bangerz era. When Miley released her self-described 'dirty south hip-hop' album Bangerz* in 2013, she embraced a very provocative persona, boldly cutting her hair off, singing about topics like recreational drug use, and, of course, twerking on Robin Thicke at the VMAs. After a few years, Miley's public image totally shifted. She grew out her hair, rekindled her relationship with Liam Hemsworth*, and started penning songs about inoffensive topics. Enter: Younger Now. While she was promoting the 2017 album, Miley memorably made critical remarks of hip-hop — the same genre that had influenced Bangerz. She told Billboard, 'I also love that new Kendrick [Lamar] song ['Humble']: 'Show me somethin' natural like ass with some stretch marks.' I love that because it's not, 'Come sit on my dick, suck on my cock.' I can't listen to that anymore. That's what pushed me out of the hip-hop scene a little. It was too much, 'Lamborghini, got my Rolex, got a girl on my cock' — I am so not that.' Fast forward to today, and Miley has reflected further on her relationship with hip-hop. During a recent appearance on the Every Single Album podcast, Miley was asked if she was 'playing a character' during her Bangerz era. She replied, 'I really did what I wanted to do…It was marketed not just by me, but just by the way that the press perceived it, as this is like some rebellious thing…That to me, that's a strategy, and I, that's not really what I do.' Then, when asked if she had 'fallen in love' with hip-hop, Miley said, 'Yes, because all my friends, that's all we listened to,' adding, 'It's not a genre, it's a statement.' 'For me, hip-hop at the time was my soul. [Those were] the concerts that I was sneaking out to go to. That was the thing that my parents wouldn't let me listen to, you know,' she went on. 'I wasn't unique in the fact that I was a white girl listening to hip-hop,' she said before quipping, 'Like, just go look at a fucking Coachella set list.' Miley was later asked if she had 'any different perspective' on her relationship with hip-hop now, and whether or not she felt differently about inserting herself into that world because she spent a lot of time listening to the genre. She replied, 'I wasn't just listening like a regular person with headphones on to Juicy J, I was friends with Juicy J, actually. So like, I don't know what to say. Like, I was actually smoking fat fucking wax bowls with Wiz Khalifa. Like, I'm not faking!' Reacting to Miley's comments, several fans were left pretty disappointed that she avoided taking 'accountability' for her 'cultural appropriation.' 'she didn't want to be a Disney star anymore. she wanted to be edgy. She benefited from the 'lifestyle' then rejected it when it no longer suited her image. And yes, people change their tastes as they grow older, but she should at least be able to acknowledge all of this after all these years with a few less 'likes' and excuses,' someone said, while another person wrote: 'Every time I think she's going to make a point it doesn't happen. Girl.' Let me know what you think below. You can find Miley's full interview here.

Outer Banks star Jonathan Daviss has been tapped to play Snoop Dogg in an upcoming biopic from director Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, Coming 2 America). According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brewer is currently working on revising the script previously written by Joe Robert Cole (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) that tells the story of Calvin Broadus Jr.'s rise to fame as West Coast rap legend Snoop Dogg. The movie is being co-produced by Snoop, as well as Brian Grazer (Music By John Williams) and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ranmaker in the first project of Death Row Pictures' deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios. Daviss also posted the Deadline story with the on-brand caption 'Bow wow wow' along with a snap of him leaning on a dog house near a mural of the cover from Snoop's 1993 debut solo album, Doggystyle. Death Row Pictures also got in on the action, uploading a snap of Daviss walking the red carpet at the 2025 BET Awards on Monday night with Snoop and his wife, Shante Broadus, who made the scene in matching deep blue suits at the show where Snoop took home the Ultimate Icon award.
