Singer Shakira, 48, was set to perform at 7:30pm as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, which is making its way through the U.S.
In a surprising move, the venue also canceled the following night's concert with country artists Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn.
Fenway Park posted a brief message on social media stating: 'Refunds will be available at your point of purchase. We apologize for the inconvenience,' but did not initially explain the reason behind the cancellations.
Later, Live Nation revealed the decision came after safety concerns arose during routine pre-show inspections.

The last-minute announcement sparked confusion and anger among ticket holders, many of whom took to social media to voice their disappointment.

Shakira accidentally confirms Rihanna is 'pregnant' during live slip up on Met Gala red carpet
On X, formerly Twitter, another demanded, 'And what was the reason? The show starts in 2 hours. At least put up a more elaborate explanation this is insane.'
Her next show is still set to go ahead at Washington, D.C.'s Nationals Park on Saturday night.
It comes just weeks after Shakira
The Hips Don't Lie appeared shocked and shrieked in horror when she realized she might have said too much during a live TV interview.
Shakira had walked the blue carpet before her former collaborator even arrived.
Due to photos of RiRi's baby bump being published before the event, some fans, including Shakira, already assumed she had confirmed her big news.
However, before she was ever able to make the baby announcement on her own, Shakira made the almighty slip-up.
Speaking to NBC News, Shakira said that Rihanna was the person she was 'most excited' to hang out with on fashion's biggest night.
"I want to see Rihanna! I want to see her so bad. And I just heard the news too," she told the interviewer.
When the reporter seemed confused as to what Shakira was referring to, she excitedly responded: "She's pregnant!"
She then looked horrified as she realized that she had spoken out before Rihanna herself was even able to announce the news.
The Grammy-winner put her hands up to her face and looked shocked as she confessed: "Am I not supposed to say that?"
She then awkwardly laughed and walked away from the interview.

But Harriotte has since been able to turn her life around and credits pageantry for giving her the opportunity to find like-minded women who are focused and driven. Advertisement The History of Britain's Beauty Pageants Following World War Two, a number of seaside resorts around the United Kingdom introduced beauty contests. The first pageant of its kind, held in Morecambe in 1945, went on to become Miss Great Britain. Alongside it was Miss England, which had its first competition in 1928 but got properly underway as a beauty pageant in 1953. The winner of the first ever Miss Great Britain in 1945 was 18-year-old Lydia Reid, a civil service typist, who received a cup and a paltry prize (according to the local paper) of seven guineas, as well as a swimsuit. Prize money increased to £100 the following year, £500 the next and reached £1,000 in the fifties due to the competition's popularity, with it becoming a form of seaside entertainment for holidaying Brits. 'The contests were aimed at a family audience,' a blurb on the Miss GB website reads. 'Men could enjoy watching pretty girls, women could have fun backing their favourites and young girls could aspire to be a bathing beauty when they grew up.' Morecambe Town Council put the contest up for sale following the 1989 final and it was purchased by new owners who rebranded it as the 'Miss Great Britain Organisation'. As well as this, Harriotte, who grew up in a working family household, is now living her best life. She beamed: "I've been able to travel the world, do humanitarian work and actually live a life that people would genuinely only get to dream of.' I think because I'm a beauty queen and successful, it puts guys my age off from approaching me Harriotte Lane The proud northern lass now hopes to inspire others across the UK that they can achieve their dreams - as she is with Miss Grand International. She explained: 'You don't have to come from the capital to achieve extraordinary things. I'm very proud to be representing Newcastle.' Advertisement Harriotte recognised that judges of pageants are looking for more than just someone beautiful. She claimed that now, entrants will need 'body, brain, beauty and business', as she concluded: "They're looking for someone who is an all-rounder." Kneecap have released new t-shirts on their website after band member Mo Chara was handed a terrorism charge, as they stated 'good lawyers aren't cheap.' The rapper, whose real name is Liam Óg ÓhAnnaidh, has been charged after displaying a Hezbollah flag at one of the band's concerts at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, London, last November. 27-year-old Mo Chara is due to appear at Westminister Magistrates' Court in London on June 18. Pic: Nils Jorgensen/REX/Shutterstock Taking to social media on Saturday, the band shared details of the latest garment to hit their store front, a black t-shirt with the words 'FREE MO CHARA' on the front in bold white. 'Well well a Chairde Gael,' the band shared, 'The Met police have gone and hit Mo Chara with a terrorism charge for allegedly holding a flag… 'Here's a wee t-shirt to show your support! 'FREE PALESTINE.' The latest comes after the band were pulled from Scottish festival, TRNSMT, due to 'concerns expressed by the Police.' A statement from Police Scotland said officers 'highlighted the potential reaction of such a large audience to this band would require a significant policing operation in order to support the delivery of a safe event.' The band issued an apology via X, stating: 'We've played there [Glasgow] many many times, with no issues — ever. Make of that what you will.' As a means 'to try to make up for it,' the band scheduled a replacement gig at the O2 Academy in July.
