A 40-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the death of Mark Blackwood, 42, on Saturday, July 5.
A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of an Ayr man.
Mark Blackwood, 42, died following an incident on Glenmuir Place in the Whitletts area of the town on Saturday, July 5.
Extensive enquiries have been carried out by police after an area around Glenmuir Place was cordoned off for a number of days.
Police Scotland have today confirmed that a 40-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with Mark's death.
Previously, police had said they were treating the incident as murder.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "A 40-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the death of 42-year-old man, Mark Blackwood, in Ayr.
"Around 8.10pm on Saturday, 5 July, 2025, we were called to a report of a man found seriously injured in a flat in Glenmuir Place.
"He was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing."

A 44-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following the incident. A man has been charged with attempted murder after police swarmed a residential Glasgow street. On Thursday July 17, officers raced to Carnwadric Road in Kennishead at around 11.35pm after being called to reports of a man allegedly being seriously assaulted. The 37-year-old was rushed by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. His condition was described as serious but stable. A 44-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday July 22, reports Glasgow Live. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 11.35pm on Thursday, 17 July, 2025, we received a report of a 37-year-old man injured after being seriously assaulted on Carnwadric Road, Glasgow. 'Police and ambulance attended and the injured man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. 'A 44-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 22 July, 2025." Yesterday, in a separate incident, we reported that a man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a person was found seriously injured in a Scots housing estate. John MacMillan from Glasgow appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday July 18 charged with attempted murder, assault to severe injury, per disfigurement, impairment and danger to life. The 43-year-old made no plea and was remanded in custody. He will appear again within eight days. Emergency services were called to Cornalee Gardens in the Pollok area of the city at around 3.45pm on Wednesday, July 16, after a 38-year-old man was found injured. He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been confirmed. A police cordon remained in place at the scene throughout Thursday, with uniformed cops standing guard. It is understood that residents were asked to sign in and out when entering or leaving their homes. A spokesperson for Police Scotland previously said: "Around 3.45pm on Wednesday, 16 July, 2025, police received a report a man had been injured on Cornalee Gardens, Pollok, Glasgow. Emergency services attended and the 38-year-old was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. "A 43-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing."
