Father, two sons among six killed in Yamuna E-way crash
The deceased were identified as Dharamveer, a resident of Harlalpura village in Bah tehsil of Agra, and his sons Rohit and Aryan. Dalveer and Paras Singh, brothers from Morena district in Madhya Pradesh and maternal nephews of Dharamveer, also died. Dushyant, a friend of Rohit from Mohanganj in Amethi, was also killed. Dharamveer's wife Soni and daughter Payal were injured.
'It appears the driver may have dozed off at the wheel, due to which the car lost control and crashed into the truck,' Mathura senior superintendent of police (SSP) Shlok Kumar said. He added that six died on the spot, while two survivors were admitted to a hospital for treatment. Families of the victims have been informed, police said.
Dharamveer, who ran a sweets business in Delhi, was returning with family and relatives to attend a religious event in Bateshwar in Agra district, held during the month of Sawan.
In a separate incident, a private bus travelling from Delhi to Madhya Pradesh overturned at around 4 am on Saturday, also within Mathura limits. 'Initial findings suggest the driver may have fallen asleep,' SSP Kumar said.
17 passengers were injured in the bus accident. Of them, eight were admitted to a hospital in Mathura and were reported stable. 'Nine others have been referred to SN Medical College and Hospital in Agra,' the SSP added. Mathura district magistrate CP Singh and the SSP met the injured at the hospital.

Hyderabad: A 33-year-old psychologist died by suicide on Tuesday allegedly after she was harassed by her husband and his family in Hyderabad, police said. The couple first met when the husband, Rohit, was receiving treatment at a mental hospital in Banjara Hills. Dr A Rajitha was an intern then. As per reports, his family saw a significant improvement in his mental health under her care. The man, a software engineer, eventually proposed to her and they got married soon after. As per the woman's family, Rohit reportedly stopped working after their wedding and was allegedly using her salary for personal expenses. Rajitha, who worked as a child psychologist at a well-known international school, urged him to change his behaviour, but to no avail. Rajitha's family claimed that Rohit would physically assault her whenever she refused to give him money. The harassment reportedly escalated, with Rohit, his parents Kishtaiah and Surekha, and his brother Mohit all being a part of it. The abuse allegedly led to Rajitha's first suicide attempt on July 16, when she consumed sleeping pills. She was hospitalised and later brought home by her parents. On July 28, she attempted suicide again, this time by jumping from the fourth-floor bathroom window of her apartment. She suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where she was declared brain dead. The Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar Police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by her father, Sub-Inspector Narsimha Goud. "We have registered a case under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code against the husband and his family members based on the complaint from the father," a Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar police officer confirmed. "The investigation is ongoing, and we are gathering evidence related to the harassment allegations."

Two women dead, three injured in fall at religious gathering in Madhya Pradesh's Sehore
Two women were killed and three people injured after a number of devotees fell at a religious gathering in Madhya Pradesh's Sehore district on Tuesday (August 5, 2025), police said. According to the police, the incident took place around 12 p.m. at Kubereshwar Dham of religious preacher Pradip Mishra due to overcrowding at the ashram. Mr. Mishra, a popular religious figure, is scheduled to take out a Kanwar Yatra from his ashram on Wednesday (August 6, 2025) and had called upon devotees to join him, resulting in large crowds at the ashram. Sehore Additional Superintendent of Police Sunita Rawat told The Hindu that during the distribution of Rudraksha (prayer beads), a woman in the front of a queue fainted and collapsed, due to which some other people also fell, causing injuries to some. 'There was no stampede but some people in a queue had fallen, leading to the incident,' Ms. Rawat said, adding that two people received minor injuries while one woman is currently critical. The Additional SP said that the victims are yet to be identified. Another senior officer said that about 50,000 to 60,000 devotees have been coming to the ashram every day during the month of Sawan, and that most of them hail from outside Madhya Pradesh. 'The responsibility of arrangements inside the ashram is on the management. The police and the administration had no role there. Outside the ashram, we have deployed over 400 police personnel for security but we have no role inside,' the officer said, requesting anonymity. 'Before reaching the ashram, they had gone to a river stream nearby to collect holy water by travelling 12 kilometres each side, and after that they stood in line amid the heat and humidity. This may have been the reason of the woman's fainting,' he added.
