A Louisiana native who wrapped up his junior season without much recruiting traction, Darensburg made the trek to Los Angeles to make a considerable splash at the linebacker spot. The combination of sheer size and power impressed in tight quarters while he also showed he can operate in space while working coverage as well.

Following the MVP effort, more than a dozen scholarship offers would eventually come in for the late-bloomer. Darensburg eventually made a verbal commitment to South Alabama on June 9.
The IMG Academy star worked out at both pass rusher and linebacker during the Atlanta stop of the tour, showcasing grit and overall competitiveness against a loaded field of players. While Forkpa held his own off the edge, he was ultra comfortable at the second level, too powerful for blockers in one setting yet swift and effective while working in coverage.
One of the top testers nationally at the position, Forkpa proved it was plenty functional en route to MVP honors near his hometown.

Those elite traits have Florida, Florida State, Miami, Colorado and others positioning for a potential commitment.

An elite pass rusher who led the Orlando-area in sacks as a junior, Lafayette has showed more second-level ability as the offseason has rolled on as well. He is plenty capable working off the edge as a third-down specialist, but has shown overall athleticism and lateral ability from an off-ball position as well.
The edge talent is so immense a coordinator may not ask for many coverage reps, but the linear speed and physicality Lafayette brings to the table has created a benefit-of-the-doubt with plenty of programs courting his commitment.

Miami, Oklahoma, Florida and several others are angling for more time from the rising-senior recruit.

The camp setting isn't the most friendly to the linebacker position, especially in coverage with so much space to operate for running backs on the other side of the ball. Still, Pettijohn pushed against that narrative successfully when it came to that portion of the event.
He showcased hip fluidity and comfort in transitioning from one direction to the other, allowing the Texan to make plays against routes both intermediate and deep. Also built to contend in the running game, the balance led to MVP honors at the Dallas RCS stop.

Pettijohn is hearing from Syracuse and SMU, among others, while adding his most recent offer from Sam Houston State.

Amid official visits to bluebloods this month, Thomas' name has picked up pace nationally and our staff got that preview at the RCS Dallas stop more than a month ago. The big 'backer stands 6-foot-3 and was once considered more of a pass-rusher, but the camp effort and his subsequent recruitment confirmed a three-down projection.
Auburn, Michigan and others have hosted him and Texas is on deck at the end of June.

Chicago Cubs assure series victory over the Milwaukee Brewers with a 4-3 down-to-the-wire win
Chicago Cubs rookie Matt Shaw won an important 11-pitch at-bat in the third inning that kept a rally going. The third baseman also barehanded an Anthony Seigler bunt attempt and threw him out in the sixth inning to prevent a rally attempt from going haywire. And since good things can come in threes, Shaw topped off the night with an eighth-inning solo home run, which turned out to be the game-winner in a 4-3 victory over the first-place Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday in front of a Wrigley Field crowd of 36,327. Out of the three highlights, which one was his favorite? 'I think hitting that home run was in a bigger spot,' Shaw said. 'Obviously, it was really important in a close game. That felt bigger in the moment.' The Cubs (73-54) clinched the five-game series against the Brewers (79-48) with Thursday afternoon's game remaining. The Cubs moved to six games behind Milwaukee in the National League Central. They have won five of their last six games, including three in a row against the Brewers, who came into the series winning 14 of their previous 15 games. After Shaw's 11-pitch walk from rookie All-Star pitcher Jacob Misiorowski (4-2) to load the bases in the third, Michael Busch blasted a bases-clearing double. 'Gosh, one of the most exciting moments in the last month or so was (Busch) hitting that double,' Shaw said. 'It was just a really cool moment.' But you still have to keep making pitches and he did that.' For the third straight game, slumping All-Star right fielder Kyle Tucker did not start. Counsell confirmed an ESPN report after the game that the finger injury Tucker suffered sliding into second base on June 1 against Cincinnati resulted in a hairline fracture in his hand. 'I think that's kind of out there,' Counsell said. 'He injured his hand in a slide and initial X-rays were negative. We had an off day, he sat out a day. He pinch hit the next day. 'He was sore but good to go. He was sore for a little while but he was able to play. We did some more imaging and it did show a small fracture that was healing. That's it.' Counsell also admitted the injury has contributed to Tucker's slump. 'It is possible that playing through it changed some things? Yeah. Absolutely,' Counsell said. 'I think it's probably likely at some point that happened. But he wanted to play.' Counsell said the fracture has healed. Tucker is hitting .182 with three extra base hits and six RBIs since the All-Star break, and earlier this week was booed by Wrigley Field patrons for not running on groundouts. Counsell thinks giving Tucker some time off to work on his swing will pay dividends. 'If you are playing, you are going to figure out something that will work for the day,' Counsell said. 'If you are not playing, you are going to try some things that may have a longer-term impact. 'Then you can, frankly, sit on them a little bit and evaluate them without an hour later having results. And I think that's important. There's just more time. And that drifts into the mental part. And that's important for Kyle.' Counsell said Tucker will play on the coming road trip 'a lot.' Rookie starter Cade Horton, who left Monday's 7-0 loss to the Brewers in the third inning with a blister on his middle finger, may not miss his next start. 'We're happy with how it looks and how it feels,' Counsell said of Horton. 'We're optimistic that he will make a start on Saturday.'

Tucker started in the series opener on Monday, going 0-for-4 at the plate, which was his sixth game out of the last seven without recording a hit. Manager Craig Counsell then benched Tucker in a move that was originally reported to help him "reset from his slump". But, following the Cubs' game on Wednesday, it's now been reported that, after receiving imaging, the Cubs learned Tucker is dealing with a hairline fracture in his right hand. It's an injury that he suffered in June, and has been playing through since until he sat on Monday. It may also offer an explanation for his recent struggles. "He was sore for a little while, but was able to play," Counsell said on Wednesday. "We did some more imaging, and it showed a small fracture that was healing. Is it possible that playing through it has changed some things? Yeah, absolutely." "He wanted to play," Counsell added. A timeline for Tucker's return has yet to be announced, but Counsell mentioned the fracture has healed by this point, and "hasn't been an issue."
