Off-duty policeman charged after alleged assault of two women
NSW Police were called to a property in the southern suburb of Caringbah on February 9 after reports of a domestic violence incident.
Officers were told a 53-year-old man had allegedly assaulted two women, aged 53 and 36, during an altercation.
He was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station where he was later released pending further investigation.
Four months later, NSW Police revealed the man is a senior constable attached to a specialist command. He has not been identified.
The policeman was issued a court attendance notice on Friday and charged with one count of common assault (domestic violence) and one count of common assault.
He is due to appear before Sutherland Local Court on August 6.
NSW Police said the senior constable's employment status is currently under review.

The teenage boy has been charged after a 17-year-old girl was reportedly attacked at Cripplegate Park in Worcester. 'Please be assured that we're treating the incident incredibly seriously and are following all lines of enquiry. 'I know that the area is likely to be busy today with families enjoying the sunshine and visiting the Worcester Show. 'You'll see an increased police presence around Cripplegate park and Pitchcroft and we'd encourage anyone with any concerns to speak to officers.'
