Saifuddin urges Nik Nazmi to reconsider Cabinet resignation

PUTRAJAYA: PKR election director Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail remains hopeful that Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad will reconsider his decision to resign from the Cabinet.
With less than a week before the resignation takes effect on July 4, Saifuddin, who is also the Home Minister, said Nik Nazmi's skills and leadership are still needed under the Unity Government's Madani framework.
"I have known Nik for a very long time. Back when I was the youth deputy chief, I already saw his intellect and potential. He is a highly capable individual and systematic in his work," he told Berita Harian.
Nik Nazmi, who lost his positions as PKR Setiawangsa division chief and vice-president in the party election last month, announced his resignation on May 28, following former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli's departure on June 17.
Saifuddin stressed his appeal was not influenced by internal factions such as Damai or Hiruk, aligned with Nurul Izzah Anwar and Rafizi, respectively.
Saifuddin said his appeal to Nik Nazmi is consistent with the openness shown by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who previously urged both Rafizi and Nik Nazmi to carefully reconsider their Cabinet resignations.
As a senior member, I will continue playing my role to unite both camps. I don't concern myself with whether I rise or fall within the party hierarchy. I define success as remaining steadfast and contributing meaningfully to the party," he said.

PM Anwar discusses air force modernisation with RMAF chief

KUALA LUMPUR: The modernisation of military strategic assets was a key topic during a meeting between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Air Force chief General Datuk Seri Muhamad Norazlan Aris. The discussion took place during a courtesy call by Muhamad Norazlan at Perdana Putra. Anwar emphasised the need to enhance Malaysia's air defence readiness amid evolving security challenges. 'The MADANI government will continue to pay attention and support efforts to strengthen security and defend the sovereignty of our beloved country,' Anwar stated in a Facebook post. He also expressed confidence in the Royal Malaysian Air Force's ability to remain a respected regional force under Muhamad Norazlan's leadership. Muhamad Norazlan was appointed as the 21st Air Force chief, succeeding Gen Tan Sri Mohd Asghar Khan Goriman Khan, who retired on June 26. – Bernama

Rafizi complains about bullies sending him photos of his baldness

IT IS not easy being in the shoes of Rafizi Ramli. Months prior, he vacated his office after losing the PKR deputy president position to the daughter of PMX. And now, he is losing hair too as highlighted in a recent post on X. He lightly commented that he was being bullied by the members of the parliament who took photos of him from behind and sending it to him. The problem? His baldness of course. Netizens who read the post were tickled pink by it. A good many of them even suggested 'ways' for him to remedy the situation. Indah khabar dari rupa. Depan lain belakang lain. Makin menjadi-jadi ahli parlimen buli aku dengan ambik gambar kepala botak. Tiap-tiap hari ada je orang hantar gambar kepala botak. (Ini hasil tangan Balik Pulau, Dato' Bakhtiar 🤣) — Rafizi Ramli (@rafiziramli) August 4, 2025 According to @ImanLuns in the comment section, sometimes what falls first is not the hair but one's principle. 'Luckily for YB, only your hair fell off, not your principles,' he said. Then there was @draididr who remembered what his father said about people who quickly get white hair or hair loss due to them thinking a lot. Another netizen added that Rafizi should just wear a Songkok like Tajuddin Rahman to cover up the baldness while @wearitbn suggested a Kopiah. Is this a subtle hint for him to move over to PAS? Perhaps the winning comment goes to @Artemis281072 who said Rafizi could have used a black marker. What is he supposed to do with it? Colour all over the bald spot? On another note, does stress cause baldness? According to the Mayo Clinic, there are three forms of hair loss associated with stress, namely Telogen effluvium, Trichotillomania and Alopecia areata. In Telogen effluvium, significant stress pushes large numbers of hair follicles into a resting phase. Within a few months, affected hairs might fall out suddenly when simply combing or washing your hair. With Alopecia areata, the body's immune system attacks the hair follicles, causing hair loss. But stress and hair loss don't have to be permanent. 'And if you get your stress under control, your hair might grow back,' said the Mayo Clinic. Hopefully, the future will see a hairier Rafizi bouncing back to his feet after recovering from the recent upheaval in PKR. —Aug 6, 2025 Main image: @rafiziramli (X)

Developer after PM's rebuke: We followed the book, 8 schools already nearby

KUALA LUMPUR: The developer of the government's affordable housing project in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras, says the development had obtained the necessary approvals and complied with all regulatory requirements — including access to public amenities such as schools. Danau Lumayan Sdn Bhd said eight schools had been identified within the surrounding area, with at least one located within walking distance of the project site. "Construction for the 3,438-unit development began earlier this year following approval that was granted well before the introduction of the current Madani policy framework," said its managing director Shahril Reza Shaheen. "The project had commenced on the ground earlier this year." This comes in response to remarks by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim earlier today during the project's groundbreaking ceremony, where he questioned the absence of provisions for school facilities within the development itself. Anwar had suggested that if there were no schools nearby, the developer should take one of the housing blocks and convert it into a vertical school. The housing project, Residensi Wilayah Aman Lumayan, Shahril added, had adhered to all existing planning guidelines and requirements at the time of approval, taking into account the proximity of schools and pre-schools. "This is a project jointly developed with DBKL (Kuala Lumpur City Hall). All compliance matters — from education facilities to clinics — were reviewed and met based on what was required. "If you're talking about the necessity of having more schools, more classrooms too, there's always a requirement for us to either expand or build a new school. "In terms of all the guidelines that have been set by DBKL and other authorities, we have compiled and, like, the other things like a pre-school— we have already complied. "And the requirement for a clinic (if there's a clinic nearby), there is actually a clinic just 50m across from the development. "But whether or not we need another clinic inside the (housing) area, that is what we need to review. "We can sit down and explore (with DBKL and authorities), but we have already gone through all the checklists, and we comply with whatever requirements for us to build this development. "There's no issue of an oversight here, not at all," he said. The developer has since met with DBKL officials to discuss the concerns raised by the prime minister and is currently conducting a feasibility study to explore whether a school can be incorporated either within or adjacent to the site. The company is expected to present its proposals to the prime minister by Monday, outlining several potential options to make improvements and meet the community's future needs. "We take the prime minister's concerns seriously and are studying the possibility of building a school as part of the development's next phase," Shahril added.
