Vu fires 64 to seize lead at LPGA Ford Championship
Two-time major winner Lilia Vu fired an eight-under par 64 to grab a two-stroke lead after Friday's second round of the LPGA Ford Championship.
The 27-year-old American made eight birdies in a bogey-free round to stand on 14-under par 130 after 36 holes at Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Arizona.

"I just stayed in my bubble," Vu said. "My caddie knew I was stressed this morning, and on the range he just said, 'Just hit your start lines and I'll handle the rest. We're going to be OK.' That definitely gave me a sense of comfort."
Sixth-ranked Vu, a former world number one, seeks her sixth LPGA title and the first since last June's Meijer Classic, her first event after a three-month absence for a back injury that still bothers her.
"I wasn't worried too much about the golf. I was kind of more focused on my body stuff and trying to get through the round without any pain and just stay strong throughout," Vu said.
"I've been trying to get in tune with my body. I'm not in pain anymore. I'm just waiting for the power to kick in a little bit. I think that's something that's kind of been lacking, but I just focused on staying true to my process and just playing golf."

A second-place pack on 132 included top-ranked Nelly Korda of the United States who fired a 65, and world number two Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand who shot 64.
Also two adrift were England's Charley Hull and Denmark's Nanna Koerstz Madsen.
Korda, a back-nine starter, made five birdies in her first nine holes then three more after the turn against a lone bogey at the par-4 fourth.
"Got off to a good start," Korda said. "Slowed a little down on the back nine, but the wind picked up a little. It was starting to play a little bit firmer. Once the round and the heat starts to play a factor, you have to be a little bit more timid."

Thitikul, also a back-nine starter, began with three birdies and an eagle at the par-5 12th in her first four holes. She added four birdies the rest of the way and made her only bogey at four as well.
"I didn't have a good confidence before coming here with my putter much, but I think for this two round I putted really well," Thitikul said.
Hull, who fired a 63 on Thursday for the 18-hole lead, fired a 69.
"I felt like I played pretty solid out there," Hull said. "I holed some good putts and I missed some that I probably should have holed, but it was a bit windy. I'm pretty happy with that and looking forward to the weekend."

World number 10 Hull seeks her third career LPGA triumph and first since the 2022 Volunteers of America Classic.
Madsen, whose lone LPGA win came in Thailand in 2022, fired a 68.
"It was tricky out there. The greens were really firm. It got a little windy," Madsen said. It was good to make pars."

MacMillan is the founder of Sports Science Lab, which specializes in sports performance, fitness, and physical rehabilitation. Gauff's game hasn't been completely off this year, having won the French Open back in May. But her serve has been inconsistent, and she clearly wants to get ahead of that before a tournament many across the U.S. would love to see her win again on home soil. Gauff was the 2023 champion in Flushing, Queens, but she was unable to defend her title in 2024 as she lost in the fourth round. Sabalenka went on to defeat another American, Jessica Pegula, in straight sets to claim the victory. Gauff fired her coach, Brad Gilbert, following that fourth-round exit at the U.S. Open.

Two Georgia Bulldogs make freshman All-American team
Georgia football will have to rely on some young players contributing to reach their goals for the season. On3 dropped their freshman All-American team and Georgia has two players on that list. On offense, offensive lineman Juan Gaston was a selection. The freshman is listed at 6-foot-7, 360-pounds is in a three-man competition for the starting right guard job. Gaston has amazing size and head coach Kirby Smart has said that he has been getting into better shape since being an early enrollee. Gaston was ranked a five-star recruit and the nation's No. 18 ranked player, per 247Sports. On defense, highly-touted defensive lineman Elijah Griffin was another Georgia freshman All-American selection. The 6-foot-4, 310-pound defensive lineman already has drawn comparisons to Georgia great and All-Pro defensive tackle Jalen Carter. Griffin is the headliner of this freshmen class that could see several key contributors for the Bulldogs. Expect to see Griffin, a former five-star recruit, to put his talent on display on Saturday for the Bulldogs early and often. Griffin was ranked as the consensus No. 1 defensive lineman and a top-five recruit across all recruiting services. Three Georgia Bulldogs also earned USA TODAY Sports preseason All-American honors.

The referee had to stop the fight. After the fight, Hokit cut a pro wrestling-style promo on the NFL. "I left the liberal, snowflake NFL to do a real man's sport in a real man's promotion and here I am doing just that by earning this UFC contract," he said. "I've been chewed up and spit out and I continue to find a way and I will find a way to that UFC gold. Mark my words." Hokit, in an American flag bandanna, also said he wants the UFC to line up pedophiles, sex traffickers, rapists and transgender fighters as his next opponents. "Me and my new business partner, Dana White, have decided to get rid of this unentertaining heavyweight division, and instead, we're going to create 'The Incredible Hok' division but my opponents won't be these lazy, boring, heavyweights," he said. "My opponents will be sex traffickers, pedophiles, rapists, hell you can even throw the transgenders in there. Line them all up, and one by one, I give them a good ol' American beatdown inside the octagon to show the world that there's consequences for these types of behaviors in America." Hokit never played a down in the NFL regular season. He joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2020 and was on the team's practice squad. He also competed for a spot on the Arizona Cardinals' roster in 2022. He's undefeated in his MMA career. He had two wins in Bellator before he moved to the Legacy Fighting Alliance.
