Is Nokia really looking for a new partner after parting ways with HMD?
However, Nokia and HMD Global will be parting ways next year, so the question remains whether or not we'll still see new Nokia phones released on the market after the collaboration between the two companies ends. To make things even worst for Nokia, HMD Global recently announced plans to scale back its operations in the United States. This means that Nokia phones weren't as successful as HMD hoped, so the Finnish company is now looking to cut its losses and remove itself from a very challenging market.

Even though the collaboration between Nokia and HMD Global won't end until March 2026, the former is already looking for a new partner willing to continue releasing Nokia-branded phones. A Nokia Community Manager posted on the Nokia sub-reddit a reply to a user who asked whether or not the company will offer licensing deals for mobile phones after the collaboration with HMD ends next year.

The comment has since been deleted from the thread, but not before the folks at Mobilissimo were able to screenshot it. While it's pretty clear that Nokia doesn't have another partner lined up to take over the mobile business from HMD Global, it remains to be seen how fast it will be able to find one.
Nokia 8 Sirocco | Image credit: PhoneArena It's hard to believe that Nokia makes a lot of money from licensing its mobile brand. The Finnish company gains more revenue from its patent and network divisions, and this is happening for quite some time.
It's also hard to believe that Nokia phones will become popular again, especially in an oversaturated market. Nothing, Oppo, Samsung, Vivo, and Xiaomi have become much more popular than Nokia, so the company that decides to make Nokia-branded phones will have a tough time returning the iconic brand to its former glory.

Nothing Phone (3) Android 16 beta recruitment starts
Vlad, 30 July 2025 If you have a Nothing Phone (3), you know it runs Android 15, even though Google has already released Android 16. Now, the company is looking for volunteers to enroll in a closed beta of Nothing OS 4.0 based on Android 16 for the Phone (3). Nothing Phone (3) 5G 256GB 12GB RAM $ 799.00 $ 799.00 512GB 16GB RAM $ 799.00 The initial build will focus on "delivering Android 16's native features as well as implementing a more robust design system which will set the foundation for a more cohesive UI moving forward", Nothing says in its announcement. Since this is an early beta build, do keep in mind that bugs are inevitable, issues will occur, and things might break. If that's not a problem for you, then you can sign up to be part of the closed beta stage at this link. Note that you have to enroll by the end of this week (specifically, 5 PM London time on Sunday). If you are chosen to participate, you'll receive detailed instructions via email, which will arrive next week. Nothing says you should only apply if you use your Phone (3) daily, are willing to give regular feedback to its team, will maintain "high standards of information security", and understand all the risks associated with using beta software. Nothing plans to release the first public beta of Nothing OS 4.0 based on Android 16 for the Phone (3) in September. If you're interested in learning more about the company's first flagship smartphone, don't miss our in-depth written review, or take a look at our video review above. Source
