Fortnite's long-awaited return to the Pro-Am format proved to be a resounding success, with the FNCS 2025 Pro-Am pulling in a peak of 643,995 viewers and recording over 2.3 million hours watched during its nearly five-hour broadcast. Held at the Galen Center in Los Angeles on May 10, the event marked a major milestone in the game's evolving esports journey.
Organized by BLAST and backed by Epic Games, the event featured 20 popular duos, each pairing a top-tier professional Fortnite player with a well-known content creator. The result? A high-energy tournament packed with action, entertainment, and fan engagement.
Peterbot and AussieAntics steal the show
The star duo of the night was Peter 'Peterbot' Kata and Shaun 'AussieAntics' Cochrane, who secured first place after six intense rounds. AussieAntics, a Dignitas streamer, teamed up with Peterbot, the reigning FNCS 2024 Global Champion and current Team Falcons player, to beat out stiff competition that included names like NickEh30, Clix, SypherPK, and CouRageJD.

Despite a clear difference in age and prize earnings, Peterbot has earned nearly 40 times more than his teammate - the duo showed remarkable chemistry. Round 2 saw the event's highest viewership as Clix and Lacy clinched a win, but it was Peterbot and AussieAntics who walked away champions.
More than just a tournament
Beyond the competition, the Pro-Am delivered moments that fans won't soon forget. A heat-induced power outage during Round 4 could have disrupted momentum, but CouRageJD quickly improvised by hosting a push-up challenge between SypherPK and NickEh30, much to the crowd's delight.
Fans tuning in were also rewarded with Twitch Drops, offering in-game items like an exclusive spray and backpack. Meanwhile, select AMC theatres across the US screened the event live, giving in-person audiences special redemption codes for Fortnite's Axe of Champions 2.0 Pickaxe.
Adding another layer of depth to the event was the presence of Heather 'sapphiRe' Garozzo, esports Hall of Famer and advocate for women in gaming. She praised the growing female representation, citing platforms like The Milk Cup as crucial entry points for aspiring players.
The FNCS 2025 Pro-Am sets the stage for a busy esports calendar. Next up is Major 3, starting July 16, followed by the FNCS Global Championship in Lyon this September.
With record-breaking viewership and fan-driven innovation, Fortnite's competitive future looks brighter - and bigger, than ever.

Was Magnus Carlsen A 'Limited' Player? Viswanathan Anand Says 'Areas Where No One...'

Last Updated: Viswanathan Anand has spoken on Magnus Carlsen's growth from a limited player to an unbeatable chess force, emphasising his endgame skills. Legendary Indian chess player Viswanathan Anand has said that Magnus Carlsen used to be a limited player, in the sense that some of his tactics in the endgame and technical positions were brilliant, which made him almost impossible to beat for a long period. It was Carlsen who ended Anand's long reign at the pinnacle of the sport and he has spoken in detail about the former's style of play and what made him an unbeatable beast. Anand elaborated on what happened in 2013 and 2014 when he first lost his World Championship title to Carlsen and then couldn't recapture it in 2015 after winning the Candidates. 'As for Magnus, he used to be quite a limited player, very, very good in that specific area. He limited himself to areas where no one else was focusing, like the endgame and dry technical positions," Anand said while speaking on Prakhar Gupta's podcast. 'He (Carlsen) saw potential where others saw paint drying and he was able to lure a lot of unsuspecting chess players to their doom over and over again. He was cashing in those points before people learned the hard way to take those positions seriously and start working on them," Anand said. 'Dry positions, where it seems you're just on the way to making a draw… he understood that you still need to be precise. When people relax, they stop being precise; they go through the motions but aren't paying attention anymore," Anand added. Carlsen is a five-time World Chess Champion, five-time World Rapid Chess Champion and the reigning (shared with Ian Nepomniachtchi) eight-time World Blitz Chess Champion. Carlsen has held the No. 1 position in the FIDE rankings since 1 July 2011, the longest successive streak and trails just Garry Kasparov in time spent as the highest-rated player in the world. His peak rating of 2882 is the highest in history. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Kanye West' YEEZY store shut down for a while; came back with slashed prices - here's why

Kanye West's YEEZY store was shut down by Shopify this week after it broke one of the platform's rules. The website, which works via Shopify, stopped working on Tuesday morning. The store was selling T-shirts with Swastika symbols, which many people and groups have spoken against. Someone from Shopify argued that the store was not following 'real business practices,' which goes against Shopify's rules, as reported by PRIMETIMER. Sisak)(AP) YEEZY drew renewed attention after a controversial 30-second ad aired in select local TV markets during the Super Bowl. Filmed by West on his phone in a dentist's office, the ad simply directed viewers to visit the store's website. Shopify allowed the sale to continue for over a day before removing the offensive merchandise. This delay prompted backlash from advocacy groups like the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which condemned the use of the swastika due to its deep associations with Nazi Germany, anti-Semitism, and white supremacist ideologies. While his posts were limited by X, 33& West, which is a talent agency based in Los Angeles, cut ties with him following West's rants and Swastika merchandise. However, the YEEZY store has made a return with a new line of products and reduced prices. Currently, customers can find items like YEEZY Slides for $20, and other clothes, with the most expensive item going for $100. This shows a stark contrast for the store, as West's products were earlier priced way more than the current price list, as reported by PRIMETIMER. The relaunch of the store with slashed prices comes after a very controversial period for the rapper and his being dropped from several partnerships across music, fashion, and business. In 2022, major talent agency CAA (Creative Artists Agency) dropped West after he allegedly made a series of antisemitic comments. The return of the store signals a more restrained comeback, offering a limited selection of products at noticeably reduced prices. This scaled-back approach comes amid severe public scrutiny.
