EXCLUSIVE Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are ALREADY married: As bride appears in terrifyingly tight corset for star-studded Venice wedding party, insiders tell ALISON BOSHOFF the couple tied the knot a month ago

Daily Mail26-06-2025
The Bezos wedding began on Thursday with the first of three days of parties in Venice – but impeccable sources reveal that the Amazon founder and journalist-turned-philanthropist Lauren Sanchez are already married.
A source closely connected to the organisation of the week's events said: 'They have been married for at least a month, more than a month.
'The marriage is fully legal and took place in America under American law.'
The source adds: 'When they were planning the wedding, they were clear about the fact that they were already secretly married.
'There is no application for a wedding licence from the couple because it was not required.
'Whatever happens at the wedding on Friday, it will not be a wedding. Under Italian law, it will not be a wedding celebration, any vows said or rings exchanged will have no legal meaning.'
The source added that Bezos had personally confirmed that he and Sanchez – who met when both were married to other people – are already legally married, and that they had also signed a pre-nuptial agreement to protect his $244 billion (£177 billion) fortune.
But Venice will still see a party unlike any other. Amid local protests, celebrities, politicians and business titans have gathered in the city known, ironically given the disruption, as La Serenissima, the Most Serene Republic of Venice.
As the eyes of the world focused on the event, staff at the privately owned Madonna dell Orto cloisters - where the couple held their 'eve of' reception tonight with finger food and pizza - erected tents to stop overflying drones from picturing the guests. Policemen on jetskis meanwhile patrolled the entrance to the nearest canal.
It's thought that the event included speeches from the bride to the groom and vice versa.
The two three star hotels neighbouring the cloister were booked up to house the 150 staff who are working on the wedding. The guests are staying rather more comfortably at the five star Aman, The Gritti Palace and the Cipriani.
Some of the world's most eligible bachelors are in Venice for the wedding – Orlando Bloom, freshly split from fiancée Katy Perry; divorced sporting superstar Tom Brady, and divorced talent agent and billionaire music executive Scooter Braun.
Former US President Barack Obama was among guests – he and Bezos have been on warm terms for years, and Bezos donated $100 million (£72 million) to the Obama Foundation in 2021.
By her side was Khloe Kardashian, who exuded glamour in a skintight leopard print catsuit that showcased her famous curves
Khloe strutted along the walkway like a supermodel while clutching onto a Stanley Cup and a large pink Louis Vuitton holdall
The event has attracted a near-quorum of Kardashians. Matriarch Kris Jenner is close friends with Lauren Sanchez, while daughters Kim and Khloe were also in attendance. Kylie Jenner, her daughter by Olympic athlete Caitlin, arrived at the Gritti Palace hotel on Thursday afternoon. Make up tycoon Kylie doesn't travel light: her 25 pieces of monogrammed luggage were on a water taxi following behind her.
Others attending include former chat show host Oprah Winfrey and her best friend, TV presenter and author Gayle King, who went on the much-mocked space 'flight' on Bezos Blue Origin rocket last month with Sanchez and an all-female team.
Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka is attending along with husband Jared Kushner, but the President himself – reportedly invited – will not come to Venice.
Both Bezos and Sanchez were there for Trump's inauguration earlier this year and Bezos attracted much criticism when his Washington Post newspaper declined to endorse Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the US election last year.
Queen Rania of Jordan has also been seen, as have fashion duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
The build-up has not gone smoothly, however. Plans were ripped up and remade over the past week as the bride and groom reeled from public hostility to their descent on Venice, and responded to global political turbulence following US airstrikes in Iran.
They have now left their $500 million (£363 million) yacht, the Koru, off the coast of Croatia, although it was initially intended to be moored in Venice.
The venues for the various celebrations have changed, too, with plans for Saturday's party now moved to Arsenale, the shipbuilding yards, which are easier to make secure. It is thought that singer-songwriter Usher, who also arrived today, may be performing. Reports that Sir Elton John and Lady Gaga will sing have been denied by representatives for both.
Protests by disgruntled locals continue, and are planned tonight and throughout the wedding. Sources says that Mayor Luigi Brugnaro has assured the couple that he can guarantee their safety in the middle of the city, however – hence tonight's event at the Madonna dell Orto in the heart of Venice.
Kim was joined by her mother Kris Jenner on the outing, who was also dressed in black, showcasing her figure in a low-cut dress
'The feeling was that the protests started to die down on Monday, so this was possible,' said one.
Forty people were held by police after Extinction Rebellion held a small protest in St Mark's Square on Thursday morning.
On Thursday lunchtime, the couple and a few of their guests enjoyed a private lunch in the gardens of the Villa Baslini on the tiny island of San Giovanni Evangelista.
The island offers perfect privacy and the couple were able to totally evade the army of paparazzo who have descended on Venice.
Meanwhile preparations also continued at the Arsenale – in warehouse 91 to be specific - which was the last-minute switch of venue for Saturday night's grand ball, from Scuola della Misericordia, after protesters said they would dive into the bordering canal.
One staff member said: 'I can tell you that [warehouse 91 is] a beautiful location. All the tables have a wonderful flower display, and they are putting up large chandeliers in the ceiling – it's going to have a Venetian masked ball theme is what I have heard but we've been told no photos, and we have to leave our phones with security.'
The main event will be on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, run by the Cini Foundation, on Friday. Bezos and Sanchez are due to say their vows in the restored amphitheatre on the island while Matteo Bocelli, the son of tenor Andrea, sings.
A budget of 1,000 Euros a head has been set for the wedding breakfast and according to local reports it will include the local Venetian delicacy of cuttlefish stew.
Gayle King was spotted making her arrival with Oprah, looking chic in mint green combat trousers
The celebrations began on Wednesday evening with a drinks reception in the ballroom of the stunning 16th century Aman hotel, in one of Venice's most venerable palazzos, which overlooks the Grand Canal.
Then the wedding guests including Bezos and Sanchez made their way to a private dinner party at the Palazzo Brandolini, hosted by Diane von Furstenberg.
The designer, 77, is close to the bride and groom to be, with her husband, the mogul Barry Diller, serving as a mentor and inspiration to Jeff Bezos for the past decade. Diller said in an interview that Bezos is a 'very dear, very loving friend' and has also been vocal in his admiration for Sanchez, a former local TV anchor and helicopter pilot.
The party was in Diane's Venetian home, which occupies the second floor of the spectacular 15th century palazzo, filled with mirrors, gilding and frescoes. The magazine Architectural Digest visited last year and described it as 'stupendous' – and they are not easily impressed.
Von Furstenberg and Diller live for several months of the year at the Palazzo Brandolini, and it's here that she displays her priceless series of paintings of her by Andy Warhol, dating from 1974.
Von Furstenberg and Diller are thought to have first brought Bezos and Sanchez to Venice and introduced them to the charms of that great city – hence their decision to marry here.
And their influence on Bezos and Sanchez extends further. Bezos' mega three-masted sailing yacht, the Koru, was inspired by the design of Diller's stunning – but smaller – three masted sailing yacht, Eos.
The Diller/von Furstenberg couple are deeply involved with the wedding. Cristina Brandolini, the aunt of Diane's first husband Prince Egon, lives in the Palazzo as does her grandson, Marcantonio. He is providing gift glassware for the wedding guests via his company Laguna B.
It's also thought that the family wine made by Cristina's son Brandolini will be served throughout festivities. The family is intimately connected with fashion and power, with one grandson interning with the Obama White House and another granddaughter working for both Oscar de la Renta and Dolce & Gabbana.
Yet even for those who move in such rarified circles, one way or another, the Bezos-Sanchez celebration promises to be an event of a lifetime.

Most expensive items you can buy if you won £216,000,000 Euromillions

An French winner has just won the biggest ever National Lottery EuroMillions jackpot, netting a massive £216 million. The next EuroMillions draw will take place on Friday. The huge jackpot means the lucky individual will rocket into the ranks of the global elite overnight – although they still wouldn't have enough cash to enter the UK's rich list, which makes you think. The winning EuroMillions ticket holder matched the numbers 24, 31, 34, 41, and 43, while the lucky stars were 06 and 08 to scoop the gigantic pot. While it is not clear if the jackpot has yet been claimed, we thought we'd get started with a shopping list in time for when their National Lottery EuroMillions win reaches their bank account. Some options would take up all of the cash (custom-made superyachts don't come cheap, never mind the running), while others would leave plenty leftover for champagne. Last year, the Amazon founder reportedly treated himself to a Gulfstream G700 private jet. Sleeping up to eight people in ergonomic seats that convert to beds, it offers a 'whisper-quiet cabin with 100% fresh, plasma-ionized air replenished every two to three minutes'. Bezos is thought to have three other jets, and with this EuroMillions win, the lucky player could buy themselves three as well. If they don't care too much about the climate. If the winner really wanted to push the boat out (ha ha), this lovely 77.8 metre yacht is listed for sale, and is within price range! It has a helipad too and was described by sellers as 'excellent value at €69,000 per gross ton', although we'll have to take their word for it. The Rutland Gate mansion in Knightsbridge would just about be achievable; it would stretch the budget though, and they'd need to find an extra £2 million down the back of the sofa. The palatial building with 45 rooms overlooking Hyde Park was sold for this record price by its Saudi owners in 2022, according to the Financial Times. Winners might benefit from the recent fall in London's prime housing market, however, and be able to strike a deal. This car sold for over five million dollars at auction last year. One of only 30 ever made, the model was engineered to break the 300 mph barrier for the first time, achieving a record speed of 304.777 mph. British jeweller Graff unveiled the 'most valuable watch ever created', with more than 110 carats of diamonds on a platinum bracelet. Fancy watches might have been out of reach until now, but now you could get a whole rolodex of Rolexes too. Made of Niloticus crocodile skin dyed white and grey, it is meant to make you think of the Himalayan Mountains (can't see it myself though). You also get 18-carat gold for the fastenings, studded with diamonds. It sold for over £330,000 at Sotheby's auction house in 2022. If the winner loves British football (probably not, given they bought the ticket in Ireland, but you never know), they could buy an entire football club, though not one at the top of the table. More Trending They could then become loathed or loved, depending on the club's fortunes, a route favoured by plenty of billionaires. If the pressure of the win is getting too much, and they fear the curse of the lottery jackpot, perhaps this would appeal. An untouched Scottish island would come as a bargain, too, with one going on sale in 2018 for just £120,000, leaving plenty of change from £208 million. What would you buy first? Russell Hobbs iron slashed to £18.99 from £49.99 is ‘great for school shirts' – save 62%

Ironing is a necessary yet annoying chore, but a really good iron can vastly improve the results. Top branded electricals can be expensive, but the Russell Hobbs Supreme Steam Iron currently has a mega discount, reducing it to £18.99. The end of the summer holidays is less than two weeks away, and back to school means the return of ironing for many families. School and work shirts, pleated skirts and other fabrics that crease easily require some serious attention to look crisp and crease-free. The Russell Hobbs iron usually comes at a premium, but if you're not prepared to spend almost £50 on one, now's the time to invest on Amazon. It's all about practicality, with a large 300ml water tank that will last a while before needing a top up. There's a steam shot for extra-creased fabrics in need of a boost, and a self-clean function keeps the stainless steel plate scale-free to ensure it remains in good condition for as long as possible. The unique vertical steam option is also handy to have, allowing you to steam clothes while they're hanging up - particularly handy for longer garments like trousers, which can be tricky to keep flat on an ironing board. You can also use the continuous steam flow when doing vertical ironing, which works well for curtains. Shoppers are leaving their feedback on the iron, which has racked up a whopping 28,000 reviews. One shopper said: ''Great - not too heavy, large water tank.'' ''Great on school shirts.'' Another commented: ''Great iron, my old iron decided to retire and this is one sale just in time - such a bargain.'' ''Very easy to use, glides easily and very lightweight, the water compartment is just the right size and easy to fill.'' ''Happy with my bargain purchase.'' While a third shopper added: ''Great iron, makes the job so much easier.'' Russell Hobbs Supreme Steam Iron £18.99 (was £49.99) Dyson V8 Animal vacuum review (spoiler, we loved it).

Amanda Knox reveals how Monica Lewinsky helped rebuild her life as they unite on red carpet for launch of new series

Amanda Knox has revealed how Monica Lewinsky became her mentor as she tried to rebuild her life after being exonerated in the death of of her roommate Meredith Kercher. The two women met at a speaking engagement in 2017, just two years after Italy 's highest court exonerated Knox and her one-time boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito in Kercher's murder. Knox told The Hollywood Reporter how she was nervous and had begged the event organizers to let her speak with Lewinsky in private. The former White House intern obliged, and even made Knox a pot of tea as she shared some guidance from her years trying to move past her sex scandal with then-President Bill Clinton. 'She had a lot of advice about reclaiming your voice and your narrative,' Knox said. 'That ended up being a turning point for me.' Years later, Knox shared her desire to tell her story on screen in an interview with The New York Times - and upon seeing it, Lewinsky jumped on board. Together, Lewinsky and Knox wound up assembling a creative team, including This Is Us executive producer K.J. Steinberg and famed producer Warren Littlefield, to create 'The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox,' a limited series for Hulu. After years of planning, Knox and Lewinsky celebrated the premiere of the show on the red carpet Tuesday. The 38-year-old exoneree stunned in a lacy white and orange gown, while Lewinsky, 52, opted for a stunning gold number with dangling earrings and her hair pulled back. Just hours earlier, Knox released the latest episode of her podcast, Hard Knox, in which she and Lewinsky spoke of the importance of telling the stories of those who survived scandal. Speaking of the decision, Lewinsky noted that she does not often pay attention to a story after it fades from headlines. 'I don't think about "How is this person rebuilding their life?"' she said, her voice cracking as she apparently started to tear up. But, she said, she thinks it is important to 'understand, as my therapist calls it, the long tale of trauma - and that it's not even just the person, but the collateral damage for people's families.' 'It's not the story of like, being a person and being gutted and then building your life back. 'And having to find yourself again,' Lewinsky said, noting that both of their scandals arose when they were in their 20s. 'You think you know everything, you think you know who you are and it's then ripped away from you,' she reflected. 'It's reconfigured and reflected back to you as a monster that you never saw yourself as, that you actually aren't.' During that time, Knox said, 'it's hard to remember that you have value as a human.' That is why, both women said, it was important for Knox to tell her story herself 'I think it's a better product because I was able to share really personal and intimate things about, you know, my life that wasn't just like a Hollywood gloss over reality,' Knox said. 'Like it becomes dirtier in a good way because it has all the messy humanity and you have all these scenes that I, you know, remember being in the writer's room being like, "This is an actual thing that has happened" and they were like, "You can't make this stuff up."' But the duo also sought to play on the 'anatomy of bias,' aiming to showcase how events unfold and are perceived through different people's perspectives. 'It's the way we story tell and it's the way we process a story in our own minds that is impacted by everything we're bringing to that moment that has been shaped by bias upon bias upon bias,' Lewinsky said. 'Every interaction that we have with a person is not just a straight interaction,' Knox added. 'It is colored by the context that we all carry. 'All of us are little universes inside of ourselves and we collide with each other,' she said. The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox airs on Hulu, and stars Grace Van Patten in the titular role.
