A woman deliberately drove into a man on a motorbike and left him with an injury which saw his bone pierce through his ankle. After she initially hit the motorcyclist, she reversed back over his leg and caused severe pain.
Amy Palfrey, 21, got out of her car following the collision and told her victim Ethan Loveridge "You think it's funny? Now look at you, this is what you get". There had been "blood blood" between the defendant and Mr Loveridge, which came to a head when her white Vauxhall Corsa knocked him off his motorbike.
A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday heard there had been "acrimony" between Palfrey and the victim and the two had argued on the morning of June 2 last year in Llanbradach, Caerphilly. For the latest court reports sign up to our crime newsletter.
CCTV shown to the court showed Mr Loveridge riding on his motorbike alongside a friend on Wingfield Crescent, when Palfrey came round the bend and struck him, knocking him off his bike.
After initially running over Mr Loveridge, Palfrey reversed her vehicle over him a second time before getting out of her vehicle and remonstrating with him and concerned witnesses who came to his assistance.
She could be heard shouting towards the victim, saying: "You think it's funny? Now look at you, this is what you get".

Mr Loveridge suffered an open compound fracture to his ankle, a shattered shin and kneecap and tendon damage in his left leg.
'Beyond imagination'
He underwent a number of operations on his leg but discharged himself against doctors' advice.
Palfrey, of Holly Road, Risca, later pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The court heard she has a previous conviction for drug driving.
In a victim personal statement read to the court by prosecutor Thomas Stanway, Mr Loveridge said: "I have developed severe anxiety and my mental health has declined. I am scared of going out in the community on my own and won't walk the streets of the village without someone else, which has left me very distressed.
"I have flashbacks of the incident and I have lost my appetite. I cannot function or eat properly and I'm taking antidepressants to get me through my daily life. I used to be an outgoing person and enjoyed motocross, mountain biking, swimming and camping. Now I spend a lot of time indoors playing on my computer as I struggle to walk around. I still don't know if my leg will need to be amputated in the future and this scares me."
In mitigation, Josh Scouller said his client is now pregnant and is expected to give birth in November. He said the defendant had a difficult upbringing and difficulties in her home life. The barrister added: "She accepts her behaviour was unlawful, childish and unpleasant."
Sentencing, Judge Lucy Crowther said: "How could you do that to another human being is beyond imagination."
Palfrey was sentenced to nine months imprisonment, but was told by Judge Crowther she would be released before her expected due date.
The defendant was also disqualified from driving for two years and four-and-a-half months.

Robber stole cash and tobacco at Tredegar petrol station
Newport Crown Court heard that Liam Watts and another man – who has not been identified – entered Nantybwch Service Station in Tredegar wearing balaclavas at around 8.45pm on December 23, 2023. There was a lone woman working in the service station, and the men grabbed her and told her to open the till. The men took £200 in cash, and Watts emptied packets of tobacco and cigarettes into a bag. The men hit Nantybwch Service Station in Tredegar. (Image: Google Street View) The pair warned the woman not to call the police, and the other man then grabbed a bottle of brandy as they fled. She phoned the police, and CCTV footage of the incident was provided. Police searched an address in Tredegar on January 1, 2024, in relation to an unrelated matter. Whilst at the address, they recognised a pair of grey Armani tracksuit bottoms. Forensic checks revealed Watts' fingerprints on a tobacco pack which had been dropped during the robbery. The defendant, who has five previous convictions for 12 offences, pleaded guilty to robbery. In a statement read out in court, the woman said she was left feeling 'particularly nervous' when working by herself late at night after the robbery, and she was concerned that the other man had not been identified yet. Liam Watts robbed a petrol station with another man. (Image: Gwent Police) Kevin Seal, appearing for Watts, said the defendant was 'sorry' and 'embarrassed' about his offending, and was so intoxicated during the robbery that he didn't realise the member of staff was somebody he knew. He said Watts developed a drug addiction and issues with alcohol after receiving a large amount of money and spending it all in a short period of time 'mixing with others and taking cocaine'. 'That's probably the worst thing that ever happens to him,' said Mr Seal. 'He then went on effectively a spree of offending.' Mr Seal said Watts was 'grateful' that he was now in custody, and that this gave him a chance to address his substance issues. 'It has put the brakes on a one way path,' he said. Addressing the defendant, Judge Carl Harrison said: 'This was a lone female working at night at 8.45pm in December. It was dark outside. 'Your offending has had a long-lasting effect on her.' Watts was jailed for two years and three months, and the woman was granted a five-year restraining order against him.

Initiative aims to boost Gwent residents' influence on policing
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd has introduced a scheme to ensure that Gwent's residents are heard by top decision-makers at Gwent Police. The Public Accountability Forum, established by Commissioner Mudd, will spotlight key issues and concerns from across the region, bringing them directly to Gwent Police Chief Constable Mark Hobrough's attention. The first forum was recorded at Tredegar Medical Aid Society Heritage Centre, with plans for further sessions in Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen. Commissioner Mudd said: "I was elected to hold the Chief Constable to account on behalf of the people of Gwent, and that means listening to what matters most to our communities. "The Public Accountability Forum is a platform for raising the real issues people are facing and ensuring they are addressed at the highest level. "This is about more than just asking questions. "It is about building trust, improving transparency, and making sure that policing in Gwent reflects the needs and expectations of the people it serves." Each forum will be made available online to ensure transparency and accessibility. This initiative is part of Commissioner Mudd's commitment to shaping local policing priorities.
