Wycombe game will not 'define' Wrexham's season
Manager Phil Parkinson believes Wexham's game at promotion rivals Wycombe Wanderers will not be "season defining."Birmingham City are 14 points clear at the top of League One with Wycombe and Wrexham in second and third spots respectively.Wycombe occupy the final automatic spot and are above Wrexham on goal difference."I don't look at it as season defining because after Saturday there will still be nine games left and a lot of football to be played," Parkinson said.
"But obviously it's an important one, we can't hide away from that."It's a great challenge for us going down there and we know what's at stake and we need to concentrate on what we need to do ."They've had a good season, so have we, and it's going to be very close."Wrexham missed the chance go above Wycombe into second spot when they lost 2-0 at Reading on Tuesday.Parkinson insisted they had "moved on quickly" from the defeat at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
"When you lose it's obviously disappointing, you can't hide away from that," Parkinson added."But it's about picking yourselves up and analysing what we can do better."The lads have recovered well – and I feel the lads are very focused about what we've got to do."Parkinson said because of injury concerns over a few players he had yet to decide on the team that would start against Wycombe.

Wrexham eye big-money target who showed true character after manager bust-up
Wrexham are reported to be eyeing a £2million move for a Championship captain, who once showed his willingness to stand up for himself after being sent on loan by a former boss Wrexham have been linked with a big-money bid to sign the captain of one of their Championship rivals. The Red Dragons are among several clubs reportedly eyeing up Blackburn Rovers man Lewis Travis. The midfielder only has one year left on his current deal at Ewood Park, with Rovers yet to open talks over fresh terms. After earning promotion from League One in April, Wrexham have now expressed an interest in securing his services, as per the Lancashire Telegraph. It's been claimed the 27-year-old would cost the Welsh side, owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, in the region of £2million. That figure matches the club record fee, which they paid to sign striker Sam Smith from Reading in January. Travis is understood to be one of Rovers' top earners, but Wrexham are said to be willing to offer him even higher wages. Signing the Liverpool academy graduate would signal a huge statement of intent by Reynolds and McElhenney, who have made their aim of reaching the Premier League very clear. The combative midfielder has made more than 260 appearances for Blackburn since signing his first professional contract with the club in January 2017. Travis has mostly been a regular in the team ever since, although it hasn't always been plain sailing. One of the most difficult periods in his time at Rovers came following the appointment of Jon Dahl Tomasson as head coach in June 2022. The pair initially enjoyed a positive relationship, with Tomasson rewarding Travis with the captain's armband shortly after his arrival. However, things turned sour as the player struggled for regular football during the first half of the 2023/24 campaign. In January 2024, Travis was sent out on loan to Ipswich Town for the rest of the season. Former Newcastle and AC Milan striker Tomasson claimed at the time that wanting to play in a different position was the main reason for the midfielder's move. But Travis later described the Danish head coach's comments as "unfair" and was not afraid to stand up for himself. In a show of character, he told BBC Radio Lancashire:"I found it very unfair how himself and (former director of football) Gregg Broughton came out and said I wanted to leave because I wasn't playing in the right position. "I would have had a lot more respect if they said the gaffer didn't put me in the captain's meeting or the gaffer didn't put me in the centre mid(fielder)s meeting even though there were under-23s there. I think it was a bit tough and hard to hear for him to come out and say that without me being allowed to say anything." Travis helped Ipswich to secure the club's first promotion to the Premier League in 22 years after they finished second in the Championship in 2024. He returned to Blackburn in the summer of that year, by which point Tomasson had left the club by mutual consent, later taking charge of the Swedish national side. Travis has since re-established himself as an important part of Rovers' midfield, making 38 appearances in their most recent Championship campaign.
