The story began when a Facebook user posted that they saw an ambulance outside Cooney's home 'around 11 PM' on July 12. The neighbour added that a 'body in a bag' was brought out.
This post alone was enough to set Reddit threads and X (formerly Twitter) timelines ablaze, with many users questioning whether the news was true or just another disturbing rumor.

Adding to the chaos, screenshots emerged of Meta AI apparently confirming her death, citing 'acute multi-organ dysfunction' and mentioning she had been under 'specialized care for longstanding health conditions.'
The AI-generated post described Eugenia as someone who 'remained a prominent figure' despite public concern over her health.
While Meta AI's comment has since been removed or flagged for error, the combination of digital confusion and real-world witness claims sent social media into a spiral.
