Iran's Revolutionary Guards commander says Iran purchased Russian-made Sukhoi 35 fighter jets
This is the first time an Iranian official has confirmed the purchase of Su-35 jets. However, Ali Shadmani, who was quoted by the Student News Network, did not clarify how many jets were purchased and whether they had already been delivered to Iran.
"Whenever necessary, we make military purchases to strengthen our air, land, and naval forces. ... The production of military equipment has also accelerated," the deputy Coordinator of the Khatam-ol-Anbia Central Headquarters said.
"If the enemy acts foolishly, it will taste the bitter taste of being hit by our missiles, and none of its interests in the occupied territories will remain safe," Shadmani warned referring to Iran's arch-rival in the region, Israel.
In November 2023, Iran's Tasnim news agency said Tehran had finalized arrangements to buy Russian fighter jets.
Earlier this month, Iran and Russia signed a comprehensive strategic partnership which did not mention arms transfers but said the two will develop their "military-technical cooperation."

Zelensky says Ukraine, allies must resist Russian 'deception'

"There are currently no signs that the Russians are preparing to end the war," he added. Zelensky is due in Berlin on Wednesday for talks with European leaders and Trump ahead of the U.S. president's summit with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The Ukrainian leader said he and his team had held more than 30 conversations with world leaders and high-ranking officials ahead of the talks. The flurry of diplomatic engagements have been overshadowed by rapid, but so far limited Russian push in the eastern Donetsk region, which the Kremlin claims is part of Russia. A member of the Ukrainian delegation travelling with Zelensky to Berlin told AFP that the Russian gains around the mining hub of Dobropillia "did not influence" preparation for Wednesday's talks. Zelensky conceded one day earlier that Russian forces had advanced by up to 10 kilometers (six miles), but ruled out swapping territory with Moscow as part of any deal with Russia.

Russia has won war in Ukraine, Hungary's Orban says
Russia has won the war in Ukraine, right-wing Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Tuesday ahead of a summit between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Friday. In power since 2010, Orban has been criticized by some European leaders for his government's ties with Russia and opposition to military aid for Ukraine, while his cabinet is struggling to revive the economy from an inflation shock. Orban, who has maintained close ties with Putin even after Russia's February 2022 invasion of Ukraine, became the only European Union leader on Monday not to endorse a joint statement saying Ukraine should have the freedom to decide its future. 'We are talking now as if this were an open-ended war situation, but it is not. The Ukrainians have lost the war. Russia has won this war,' Orban told the 'Patriot' YouTube channel in an interview. 'The only question is when and under what circumstances will the West, who are behind the Ukrainians, admit that this has happened and what will result from all this.' Hungary, which gets most of its energy from Russia, has refused to send weapons to Ukraine, with Orban also strongly opposing Ukraine's EU membership, saying it would wreak havoc on Hungarian farmers and the wider economy. Orban said Europe had missed an opportunity to negotiate with Putin under former US president Joe Biden's administration and now was at risk of its future being decided without its involvement. 'If you are not at the negotiating table, you are on the menu,' Orban said, adding that he partly opposed the EU's joint statement on Ukraine as it made Europe look 'ridiculous and pathetic.'
