Saudi Arabia Launches Pavilion at Rabat International Book Fair 2025
Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Wasil, CEO of the Literature Commission, said the Kingdom's participation emphasizes the importance of supporting Saudi publishers and literary agents globally, promoting intellectual production, and showcasing the nation's rich cultural heritage.
The Saudi Pavilion reflects the diversity and integration of the Kingdom's cultural scene, with participation from prominent institutions such as the King Salman International Complex for the Arabic Language, King Abdulaziz Public Library, King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur'an, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, and Taibah University.
The initiative seeks to deepen cultural ties between Saudi Arabia and Morocco, foster mutual cooperation, and attract cultural investment opportunities, in line with Vision 2030's objective of positioning culture as a pillar of sustainable development and intercultural dialogue.
Organized by Morocco's Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communications, the Rabat Book Fair is one of the Arab world's foremost cultural events. The 2025 edition features 743 exhibitors from 50 countries, offering Saudi Arabia a high-profile platform to amplify its global cultural presence.

The festival is a central part of Riyadh Season 2025, the Kingdom's flagship cultural and entertainment initiative designed to diversify the economy and boost tourism as part of its Vision 2030 strategy. In a separate post last Wednesday, Al Al Sheikh hinted at further major announcements for the upcoming season, including a focus on Gulf and Syrian content, with plans for theatrical productions and concerts celebrating regional talent.

Turki Alalshikh Promises Record-breaking Riyadh Season
The General Entertainment Authority Chairman Turki Alalshikh has announced that the upcoming Riyadh Season will be 'very different,' with global surprises, top-tier performances, and blockbuster events. In a video posted to his official X account, Alalshikh said the ongoing Esports World Cup, offering more than $70 million in prizes, has already energized Riyadh with momentum that will continue for weeks. Among the biggest highlights is the World Comedy Festival, the largest of its kind, scheduled from September 26 to October 9 at Boulevard Riyadh City. It will feature over 50 world-renowned comedians including Kevin Hart, Russell Peters, Sebastian Maniscalco, Whitney Cummings, Gabriel Iglesias, Bill Burr, and Andrew Schulz. The festival will also host interactive activities, workshops, and daily performances representing various comedic styles. Alalshikh revealed the new Riyadh Season will spotlight Saudi, Gulf, and global content, with a notable presence from Syrian talent in theatre and concerts. He also teased major collaborations including shows with YouTube megastar MrBeast, international concerts, WWE and UFC matches, and the Royal Rumble set for January 2026 in Riyadh. The sports calendar will feature the Six Kings world tennis championship, where six of the sport's top stars will compete for the largest prize pot globally over four days in the capital. Beyond live events, Saudi Arabia is pushing into global film production. Alalshikh confirmed that filming will soon begin on The Battle of Yarmouk: Khalid ibn Al-Walid, an English-language epic with an international cast and crew, comparable in scale to films by Ridley Scott. Two other major projects are underway: one on the Saudi army, and another on anti-narcotics efforts. The military film will be written by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan, The Patriot). On the television front, Alalshikh revealed a new reality show being filmed in Scotland, a high-end comedy series starring Saudi actor Nasser Al-Qasabi, and an epic drama titled Abu Al-Muluk: Abdul Malik ibn Marwan, created by writers from Game of Thrones, Vikings, and The Last Kingdom. Another major production, Interpol, is in development alongside a Saudi action-comedy titled The Boulevard, directed by Mohammed Al-Mulla and filmed entirely at Boulevard Riyadh City, inspired by Night at the Museum. Alalshikh also confirmed the return of the hit game show Takeshi's Castle ('Al-Hisn') in a new, world-class version co-produced with its original Japanese creators, airing on MBC and Shahid. Saudi Arabia Launches First Academy for Arts and Culture
Saudi Arabia has launched its first-of-its-kind Academy for Arts and Culture, aimed at discovering, nurturing, and developing cultural talents among students in public education. The academy is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education and will open its doors in the 2025–2026 academic year. It will initially enroll 4th-grade elementary and 1st-year intermediate students across two campuses: one for boys in Al-Nakheel district in Riyadh and one for girls in North Obhur district in Jeddah. Blending accredited academic education with specialized cultural programs, the academy offers an enriched environment targeting students gifted in fields such as drawing, theater, music, and singing. Future expansion will include all grade levels and additional regions. The academy delivers a full daily schedule that combines standard curriculum from the Ministry of Education with intensive cultural instruction. The day is divided into two sessions: a morning session for core subjects and an afternoon session for creative programs. Admission is open to talented students through the academy's official website and involves a three-stage process: online registration, performance evaluation and personal interview, and final acceptance—subject to available seats and successful completion of all assessment stages. The academy falls under the umbrella of the national Cultural Talent Development Strategy, designed to integrate arts and culture into public education. It seeks to build creative skills among the younger generation, link educational outcomes with cultural sector needs, and promote long-term sustainability in Saudi Arabia's cultural ecosystem.
