Coldplay and the chaos of Astronomer's CEO Andy Byron and CPO Kristin Cabot: Everything that happened

Coldplay , the rock band, is known to savour adorable memories, sing aloud, and possibly tear up a bit during the emotional songs. However, one such clip from the concert, which sparked conversations, laughter, accusations, and so much more, of the CEO of Astronomer, Andy Byron and the Chief People Officer (HR Department), Kristin Cabot, has been going viral on social media (for all the wrong reasons). What happened? On July 16, 2025, Coldplay held a concert as part of their 'Music of the Spheres' tour in Gillette Stadium, Boston. As a part of their immersive experience, the band has many traditions, which include confetti, one-to-one talks with concertgoers, wristbands, moon goggles, and more. One of which is 'The Jumbotron song,' where Martin converses and sings about the people with live lyrics. During the 'Kiss Cam' moment, the camera panned towards a middle-aged couple, who had their arms wrapped around. Initially, Martin, who was in awe, introduced them by saying, 'Whoa, look at these two.' However, in a split second, the woman turned around and tried to go out of the frame, while the man tried to bend down and hide behind the glass barricade. Martin quipped, 'Either they're having an affair or they're just really shy." 'Oh s–t, I hope we didn't do something bad,' he added. Turns out, the man, Andy Byron, held the position of CEO, while the woman, Kristin Cabot, held the position of Chief People Officer (Head of HR Department). Chris Martin confirms whether the couple was 'legitimate' A couple of moments later, a young couple is displayed on the Jumbotron. Chris asked, 'OK, now listen, are you two a couple? Are you two a legitimate couple?' The audience quickly shared a laugh; however, the couple did not respond immediately, which made the singer confused. The couple was staring at the singer, and the 48-year-old asked whether they understood English. No reaction at all, even after Martin tried to communicate in Spanish. 'Ok, I'm just going to risk it,' the 'Yellow' singer said. After Chris asked if they could hear him, the man finally responded with a thumbs-up. The interaction has been getting a lot of views on social media as well. The Aftermath As the clip went viral, Byron and Cabot were scrutinised by a good share of netizens, who were concerned about their respective family members. A user quickly shared that Byron's wife, Megan Kerrigan, had removed his surname from her Facebook account's profile name, which was some time before she entirely deactivated her account. Kerrigan is an accomplished educator in Massachusetts, who is working as an Associate Director of the Lower School and Admissions for the Hope Graham Program at the Bancroft School in Worcester, according to her profile. A letter to the netizens While the entire internet was busy sharing memes and chuckles, a certain viral statement circulated on social media that quickly grabbed the attention. Allegedly signed by Andy Byron, the letter had an apology to his family and employees. While the statement said that he would like to take accountability and privacy in the matter, it further said that his private moments were made public without his consent, which enraged many users. However, TMZ has confirmed that Andy Byron has not made any statement as of now, nor has Kristin Cabot. Who are Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot? Andy Byron has been the CEO of Astronomer since July 2023, according to his LinkedIn profile. The 50-year-old is married to Megan Herrigan, with whom he shares two kids. Meanwhile, Kristin Cabot joined the tech company, Astronomer, in November 2024, as a part of the HR Department that looks after ethics. She was previously married to Kenneth C. Thornby; however, they finalised their divorce in 2022 after filing it in 2018.
