Shreyas Iyer is presently not playing any cricket, having been left out of the Team India squad for the five-match Test tour of England. He is likely to feature next in India's white-ball tour of Bangladesh, beginning on August 17.
India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate confirmed pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is "available" for the second Test against England at Edgbaston, but it is yet to be decided whether he would feature in the final XI, considering his limited utilisation for the five-match series.
After the conclusion of the series opener, head coach Gautam Gambhir declared that the management would not budge on Bumrah's three-match utilisation. There were recommendations from fans and former cricketers to use Bumrah in all five Tests, but Gambhir quickly turned down the suggestion, claiming they were more concerned about his workload.
Numerous reports have suggested that India won't line up without Bumrah for the second Test. Doeschate addressed the concerns about Bumrah and declared that he is "available" but the management is yet to make a call on whether to send him to the on-field action or not.
"Yeah, he's available for the game, obviously. We know from the start he's only going to play three out of the five. He's obviously had eight days to recover from the last Test. But given conditions and workload and how we think we can best manage for the next four games, we haven't made a call on that. We're going to see what the other guys are with their workload as well. So technically, yes, he's available. But we haven't made a decision on whether he's going to play or not yet," Doeschate told reporters in a press conference.

WI vs AUS: Mitchell Marsh to play as specialist batter, bowling remains ‘offline'

Mitchell Marsh has confirmed he will play as a specialist batter in Australia's upcoming T20I series against the West Indies. The 33-year-old has not bowled since the Test series against India and has only bowled once - during an ODI against England at Lord's in September also didn't bowl in any of his 13 matches for the Lucknow Super Giants during the 2025 IPL season. In the West Indies T20Is, he will open the batting alongside Jake Fraser-McGurk, who returns to the squad in place of the injured Spencer the bowling's offline and we'll just see where that gets to. But looking forward to just playing as a batsman for the moment,' Marsh said. Of the players who featured in Australia's 3-0 Test series win, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Alex Carey will not take part in the limited-overs series. Marsh said their absence creates an opportunity for emerging talents to step up and showcase their skills."First and foremost, it's always 'we're representing Australia, we're here to win the series' and culturally, that's how we want to go about it. There will be guys that get opportunities. We've obviously got a few guys missing for this series [for] a well-earned rest. We'll see guys bat in different positions and get opportunities in certain positions,' Marsh added. Amongst the newcomers, Mitchell Owen is set to make his debut in the opening T20I on July 20 (July 21 in India) at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica. Owen played a key role in the Hobart Hurricanes' title-winning campaign in the 2024-25 Big Bash League, including scoring a century in the final. Attention will also be on rising talents like Cooper Connolly and others eager to make their squad for West Indies T20Is Mitchell Marsh (c), Sean Abbott, Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Tim David, Ben Dwarshius, Nathan Ellis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Josh Inglis, Matt Kuhnemann, Glenn Maxwell, Mitch Owen, Adam Zampa- Ends

Jasprit Bumrah on verge of breaking 2 Wasim Akram records in England; here's what India pacer needs to do in Manchester

Jasprit Bumrah is set to continue in the Indian playing XI for fourth Test against England in Manchester after the visitors suffered twin injury blows in the form of Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh. Bumrah, who took a five-wicket haul each in Leeds (first Test) and Lord's (third Test), was set to be rested at Old Trafford as a part of his workload management. However, with Akash Deep and Arshdeep set to miss the fourth Test, starting on July 23 and the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy on the line, India can't afford to take any risk but to play Bumrah in an attempt to level the series. India currently trail 1-2 after three games. Bumrah, who holds the record of most wickets for India against England on English soil, is on the verge of breaking two Wasim Akram records in case he makes the playing XI next week. The right-arm pacer is just five wickets shy of overcoming Pakistan legend Akram for most Test wickets by an Asian bowler in England. In his 17-year long Test career, Akram played 14 matches in England and took 53 wickets. Bumrah has so far accumulated 49. That's not all. The premier Indian pacer will have a chance to surpass Akram and become the first Asian bowler for most five-wicket hauls in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) countries. Both Bumrah and Akram are stuck at 11 five-wicket hauls currently. 'Obstructing The Field' Controversy Strikes India vs England Women's ODI. Here's What Happened

The second women's ODI between India and England created a bit of controversy after India's appeal of obstruction in field was turned down. Playing at the iconic Lord's in London, the match was reduced to 29 overs-per side due to rain. India struggled to get going on a damp pitch. They managed just 143/8 in their allotted overs. England were close to chasing the target, but rain poured down again, and the target was reduced to 115 in 24 overs. They then chased the target in 21 overs and won the match by eight wickets. During the fourth over of England's chase, Tammy Beaumont played a shot off Deepti Sharma and ran for a single. The ball went towards Jemimah Rodrigues, who was placed at the mid-wicket and she threw it towards wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh. As Richa was about to get the ball, it hit on the leg of Tammy, who was coming inside the crease. The Indian team quickly appealed for obstruction in field as the on-field umpires quickly opted for the third umpire's decision. After checking few replays, Tammy was declared not out, leaving Team India disappointed. Law 37.1 in MCC's law book states, "Either batter is out Obstructing the field if, except in the circumstances of 37.2, and while the ball is in play, he/she wilfully attempts to obstruct or distract the fielding side by word or action." 37.1.2 states, "The striker is out Obstructing the field if, except in the circumstances of 37.2, in the act of receiving a ball delivered by the bowler, he/she wilfully strikes the ball with a hand not holding the bat. This will apply whether it is the first strike or a second or subsequent strike. The act of receiving the ball shall extend both to playing at the ball and to striking the ball more than once in defence of his/her wicket." Coming to the match, openers Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont gave England a strong start, putting together a 54-run stand in just over 10 overs. Beaumont looked fluent during her 34 off 35 balls, which included five boundaries, before falling to Sneh Rana. Jones, however, remained calm and unbeaten, anchoring the innings with a steady 46, while Sophia Dunkley supported her with a run-a-ball 9 not out. Captain Nat Sciver -Brunt also chipped in with 21 before being bowled by Kranti Goud, who along with Rana were the only wicket-takers for India. Apart from them, the Indian bowlers failed to make much of an impact as England cruised to 116/2 in just 21 overs.
