Cops launched a murder investigation soon afterwards and have now released CCTV footage showing a suspect walking calmly towards the busy park before the shooting.
He can be seen entering the children's play area before shooting Rene in the chest.
The teenager tragically died at the scene.
CCTV footage also shows the suspect chasing and attempting to shoot a second victim after gunning down Rene.
He then flees the area.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the investigation said: "Rene was tragically shot dead during a busy music festival. Since the launch of the investigation, officers have reviewed hundreds of hours of CCTV and taken numerous statements from witnesses.
"Rene's family have continued to be supported throughout these enquiries, and they remain understandably devastated about his death.
"Recently, a man in his 20s was interviewed under caution in relation to Rene's murder and we continue to investigate all lines of enquiry."
Footage shows the suspect walking towards the park, appearing to pull a gun from his pocket and then running from the area shortly after the shooting.
DCI Foxwell added: 'The person responsible for Rene's murder opened fire in a busy park where dozens of people, including very young children, were enjoying themselves.
'Officers have appealed to the local community on multiple occasions – we believe there are people sitting on the name of the person responsible.
'This person, who was willing to take the life of Rene and risk the lives of others, remains in your community. Now is the time to get in touch with us to give Rene's family the peace they deserve.
'Our thoughts, remain as ever, with them.'

Stolen fire truck leaves a trail of wrecked vehicles in Washington state

Police are searching for a person who stole a fire truck in Washington state on Friday night and left behind a trail of damage and wrecked vehicles. The Everett Fire Department truck was stolen from the 2900 block of Hoyt Avenue, about 30 miles north of Seattle, while firefighters were responding to a medical emergency on the fifth floor of an apartment building, the fire department said in an update posted to Facebook on Saturday morning. "The suspect drove the stolen fire engine at high speeds through north Everett residential streets, causing significant damage to multiple parked vehicles and landscaping across five locations before fleeing on foot," the fire department said. The firefighters discovered the missing truck just after 11 p.m., when the first 911 call reporting a nearby hit-and-run was received, per the fire department. Witnesses told authorities that a fire truck "struck two parked cars at a high rate of speed and left the scene." "About a minute later, similar reports came in from the 1000 block of E Marine View Drive, where the fire engine came to a stop after plowing into ten parked vehicles," the fire department said. The Everett Police Department began responding to the incident scenes, which included at least six locations where damage was reported to parked cars, trees, directional signs and grass, per the fire department. No injuries were reported at any of the locations. Pictures posted by the fire department show the aftermath of the incident, including totaled cars, a knocked-down street sign and miscellaneous debris lining the streets. The stolen firetruck, a 2018 Pierce Enforcer Pumper weighing around 35,000 pounds, received "significant damage" and has been impounded for evidence, the fire department said. It was one of the department's newer engines, and its weight makes it "a substantial vehicle when in motion." The driver is still at large and the investigation into the incident is ongoing. "Losing a fire engine to such a reckless person not only jeopardizes the safety of our first responders but also puts our community at risk," Everett Police Chief John DeRousse said in a statement. "We are committed to ensuring the safety of our residents, and any information that helps us resolve this incident is crucial. It is imperative that we hold the suspect accountable for their actions, and we will work diligently to bring them to justice." The police department is asking anyone with information or footage of the incident to get in touch. Everett Fire Chief Dave DeMarco said the fire department is looking into what can be done to prevent such incidents in the future. "We are thankful that no one was injured in this event, and we remain focused on safeguarding our community and our emergency response capabilities," DeMarco said.

The man stumbles back clasping his mouth before he looks down at his hand to find his teeth have been knocked out. He looks in disbelief at the other protestors around him before proceeding to argue and square up to other officers. The footage also shows protestors throwing objects at the police as they form a cordon. In the aftermath of the incident, the man told the Mail his account of events. "I was trying to talk to him (the riot officer) and he smashed me in the face with his shield," he claimed. He added that his teeth were now in his pocket. Other footage showed yobs jumping on a moving police van and setting off flairs. Essex Police Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper said those behind the violence would feel the full force of the law and could expect a knock on their doors. The force confirmed eight officers were injured in the clash and two people have been arrested - one on suspicion of affray following reports of an assault during a protest on Sunday, and the other for failing to comply with dispersal orders. Shock moment cops DRIVE INTO protester while under siege from yobs as chaos erupts over small boat migrant 'sex assault' The man accused of affray, 65-year-old Dean Walters, has since been charged and the second suspect remains in custody. On Wednesday night, video footage captured the dramatic moment a protestor was run over by a police riot van as chaos broke out. Yobs tried to block the streets with green plastic blockades as officers navigated through angry crows. Men could be seen kicking and punching several riot vans on the road. But footage shows one man being driven into after failing to move. The protest was sparked by a 38-year-old Ethiopian asylum seeker who was arrested and later charged with three counts of sexual assault, one count of inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity and one count of harassment without violence. Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu, who had been living at the Bell Hotel, in Epping, Essex, denies sexual assault. He appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court on Thursday, July 10, where he denied all charges. His arrest led to multiple protests in the region, culminating in the violent clashes. There are about 210 hotels under contracts with the Home Office to house migrants. A Sun investigation revealed 339 defendants who had been living at asylum hotels had appeared in magistrate's courts already this year. Sir Keir Starmer released a statement in response to the growing tensions. "Well, I think it's obviously important that communities know that we are working to reduce the number of asylum hotels," said the PM's spokesperson. "That is a clear government policy. But it's also important that legitimate protest doesn't cross over into something else, and we would always hope that communities would respect that. "But we are, and I think the Prime Minister is on record as saying, about the need to cut migration, both lawfully and illegal migration, and that is something that you're seeing in working on tirelessly over the last year, whether it be the agreement with the French last week or the agreement with the German government yesterday, that is a priority for this government. "It is something that requires international solutions, and that is why you're seeing this flurry of activity from this government to tackle these gangs from every possible angle.' 7 Police push protestors back Credit: Newsflare 7 The man continued to scream at police officers after the incident Credit: Newsflare
