LOS ANGELES (AP) — Denis Bouanga converted from the penalty spot in the 42nd minute, Hugo Lloris had two saves and Los Angeles FC beat Colorado 3-0 on Wednesday night as the Rapids played all but the first few minutes a man down.
LAFC, which had 70% possession and tied their season high with 22 shots, is 7-0-0 at home against the Rapids all time in the MLS regular season with a 20-2 goal differential.
Bounga's PK gave LAFC a 1-0 lead. The 30-year-old forward joined Carlos Vela (78) as the only players in club history to reach at least 50 career regular season goals.
LAFC (8-5-5) had a nine-game unbeaten streak snapped last time out with a 1-0 loss to Vancouver.
Javairo Dilrosun's first-touch shot, off a feed from Ryan Hollingshead, was parried by goalkeeper Nico Hansen but Nate Ordaz was there to tap in the rebound from point-blank range and make it 2-0 in the 48th minute.
Dilrosun, who was acquired June 11 on loan from LIGA MX powerhouse Club América through July 24 with a purchase option scored his first career goal in MLS to give LAFC a 3-0 lead in the 59th.
Jackson Travis was shown a straight red card in the sixth minute after he extended his elbow into the face of LAFC fullback Sergi Palencia and the Rapids played a man down the rest of the way. The last time the clubs met, Palencia was accused , and cleared, of discriminatory action toward Rapids defender Chidozie Awaziem.
Colorado (7-10-5) has one win in its last seven games.

Gazdag, Lappalainen score goals to help Crew beat DC United 2-1

Associated Press COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Daniel Gazdag and Lassi Lappalainen each scored a goal for the Columbus Crew on Saturday night in a 2-1 win over D.C. United. Lappalainen, who signed with the Crew in January after six seasons with Montreal, scored his first goal of the season to make it 2-1 in the 79th minute. The 26-year-old midfielder put away a loose ball from near the penalty spot with a first-touch finish. The Crew had 58% possession and outshot D.C. 18-6, 6-1 on target. Gazdag drew a foul, conceded by Lucas Bartlett, in the area and converted from the spot to open the scoring in the 31st minute. Christian Benteke scored his first goal since May 5 in the 48th when he flicked a header from the center of the area into the net to make it 1-1. Columbus (12-4-8) lost 3-0 at Nashville on Wednesday to snap a five-game unbeaten streak. D.C. (4-13-7) is winless, with six losses, in its last seven. The Crew are unbeaten in five straight against D.C., which went into the game with a minus-24 goal differential this season, worst in MLS. Defender Aaron Herrera was shown his second yellow card in the 89th minute and D.C. played a man down the rest of the way. The opening whistle was delayed about 45 minutes due to inclement weather. The Crew honored Guillermo Barros Schelotto prior to the game. The forward, who was named the 2008 MLS Cup most valuable player while he helped Columbus with the MLS Cup championship, became the fourth player in club history to be enshrined as a member of the Crew Circle of Honor. ___ AP soccer: recommended Item 1 of 1

Napheesa Collier's record-breaking performance leads her team to victory in WNBA All-Star Game

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Napheesa Collier scored a record 36 points to help her team beat Team Clark 151-131 in the WNBA All-Star Game that was devoid of defense and full of 4-point shots. This record offensive effort came a year after the league's annual exhibition game was a competitive contest that pitted the U.S Olympic team against WNBA All-Stars. The game capped off a weekend where negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement took centerstage. Players wore warmup shirts before the game that said 'Pay us what you owe us.' Captain Caitlin Clark was unable to play for her team because of a groin injury she suffered earlier this week. She still served as ambassador for the weekend. ___ AP WNBA:
