Odisha: Majhi holds discussion on establishing world class aviation infrastructure

Bhubaneswar, May 1 (UNI) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday held discussions on establishing a world-class aviation infrastructure including airports, helipads, and drone hubs in Odisha.
He emphasised the need to enhance the efficiency of the existing airports in the state and to modernise their operations.
The Chief Minister directed departmental officials to improve infrastructure at public airports, expand flight connectivity, and boost the overall efficiency of aviation services.
To strengthen the state's aviation infrastructure, Majhi reviewed "Aviation and Network Construction Management" at Lok Seva Bhavan.
The meeting focused on the development of the Shri Jagannath International Airport (SJIA) in Puri and the upgradation of Rourkela Airport, along with plans for a greenfield airport at Paradip.
The discussions also covered the development of key regional airports such as Jaipur, Dand Bose, Rangeilunda, Gautama, Satibhata, Raisuan, Thushara, Jamadarpali, Malkangiri, Amarda Road and Utkela to improve regional connectivity.
The construction of heliports in 15 districts and the development of the Biju Patnaik Aviation Centre (BPAC) at the airstrip in Birashola, Dhenkanal, were also reviewed.
The Works Department has been designated as the nodal agency to expedite the development initiatives.
Additionally, the restructuring of the Directorate of Civil Aviation was discussed, with proposals for modern infrastructure and improved human resources to support the growing aviation sector in the state. UNI DP SSP

Hyderabad, June 9 (UNI) Shiprocket, India's leading eCommerce enablement platform, on Monday announced it will set up three more dark stores in Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kolkata in the next 3-6 months in the country for quick delivery. Already existed three dark stores in the country – Delhi, Mumbai and Bengalur and the centres will offer a comprehensive suite of services to support e-commerce businesses, including solutions for fulfilling online orders, managing inventory, and optimizing delivery logistics, said Shiprocket CEO (Domestic Shipping) Atul Mehta on the occasion of hosting shiprocket Yatra 2025 here to empower MSME merchants in the region. Shiprocket recently filed a pre-filed draft red herring prospectus (pre-DRHP) with market regulator Sebi, marking the logistics tech company's formal step toward a public listing. Shiprocket, incorporated as Bigfoot Retail Solutions and headquartered in Delhi NCR, has not disclosed the size of the proposed issue in the public advertisement. Backed by investors including Zomato and Temasek, Shiprocket provides end-to-end shipping and fulfilment solutions to direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands and independent merchants, a segment that currently generates 70-80% of its revenues. Dark stores which are mostly in metro cities, essentially micro-fulfillment centers, are a key component of the quick commerce landscape, and Shiprocket provides the tools and infrastructure to enable their efficient operation, he informed. Each store measures 3,000 sq. ft and the company also has 32 shared warehouses (each warehouse measuring over 1.5 lakh sq. ft , measuring across the country, he said. Of the total 3 lakh plus sellers across the country, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have emerged as strategic markets for Shiprocket, with around 18,000 sellers from these states onboarded to the platform to date, Atul said that these sellers have collectively contributed to over 2 crore shipments, demonstrating the region's strong digital adoption and entrepreneurial agility. In FY25 alone, shipment volumes from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh reached around 35 lakh+ shipments, marking a robust year-on-year growth of around 25 per cent, he said. Shiprocket Yatra brought together industry leaders, entrepreneurs, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and innovators to discuss how MSMEs can leverage eCommerce enablement to unlock domestic and global growth opportunities, he said. Kendrapada , Asserting that the Odisha government was committed to deporting Bangladesh nationals staying illegally in the state, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday asked the police and the district administration of Kendrapara to take strict action against such persons as they may pose a threat to national security. He said deportations would be made as per the law of the land. "The local police need to work in coordination with central agencies to tackle the tricky the issue of illegal immigration," Majhi said. While reviewing the implementation of government programmes in the district, he directed the police to identify the unlawful settlers with the help of the administration and initiate steps for their deportation. "All the infiltrators whether from Bangladesh or any other country will be dealt with sternly," he said, adding that the state government is following a zero-tolerance policy towards foreigners settling down without valid documents as they are always a threat to India's security. Majhi, who also holds the Home portfolio, had informed the assembly in March that 3,738 Bangladeshi infiltrators have been identified in the state. Kendrapara tops the list with 1,649 people, followed by 1,112 in Jagatsinghpur, 655 in Malkangiri, 199 in Bhadrak, 106 in Nabarangpur and 17 in Bhubaneswar. As many as 1,711 Bangladeshis from coastal Odisha were served 'Quit India' notice in 2005 in accordance with provisions of the Foreigners Act. However, the exercise to deport them was put on hold by the Centre amid allegations of wrongful identification of the suspected foreign nationals, an official said. However, 21 Bangladeshi nationals were deported to their country under Foreigners Act prior to 2005, the official said. Kendrapara's development issues were discussed as the CM took stock of administrative performance, infrastructure growth, and social welfare initiatives. "Kendrapada will become a launch pad for the state government's second-year development agenda," Majhi said, while addressing officials and public representatives. The review meeting was attended by MLAs from the district and discussions were held on strengthening water resource infrastructure, accelerating industrial growth, and expanding the district's renowned mangrove cover. Majhi asked the officials to focus on the eco-tourism potential of Kendrapara and put efforts to attract more tourists to Bhitarkanika National Park and Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary while preserving ecological integrity. Also, the MLAs and other people's representatives drew the attention of the chief minister to the long-standing demand for setting up a medical college in Kendrapada and implementing the 'parikrama' project around the Baladevjew Temple. Majhi appreciated the district's performance in the creation of Lakhpati Didis and the success of Subhadra Yojana. He also lauded the district's performance in grievance redressal, implementation of mid-day meal scheme, and distribution of allowances. He asked the administration to prepare a comprehensive roadmap within a month to develop Kendrapada into a model district, with a special focus on industrial growth, tourism, renewable energy, and uninterrupted drinking water and healthcare access. Earlier, Majhi participated in a Tiranga Yatra from the Mausi Maa Temple to the historic Shri Baladev Jew Temple. He also flagged off two outreach initiatives Krishi Rath and Revenue Rath.

Hyderabad, June 9 (UNI) Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, participated in a direct interaction programme with farmers at Mangalapalli in Rangareddy Rural district as part of the ongoing Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan. Addressing the gathering, the Minister underscored the importance of agricultural self-sufficiency in realising the dream of a developed India. 'For the dream of a developed India to come true, there must be developed work—meaning self-sufficiency in agriculture,' he said. Highlighting the record-level food grain production this year, he credited the resilience and hard work of Indian farmers and emphasided that Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan was launched with a vision to ensure long-term sustainability and prosperity in farming. Chouhan stressed that agriculture cannot be managed solely from offices and research institutes. 'Our government reaches wherever agriculture happens—wherever farmers innovate and cultivate. We aim to solve problems by connecting directly with farmers at the field level,' he added. He affirmed the Centre's commitment to supporting farmers not only in cultivation but also in marketing their produce. 'Agriculture is not just about vegetables and grains, but also includes avenues like beekeeping which can enhance farmers' incomes,' he said. During the event, the Telangana Farmers' Union, on behalf of the BJP Kisan Morcha, presented a symbolic plough to the Minister as a mark of respect. He was accompanied by Union Minister of State for Agriculture Bhagiratha Choudhary, who was also warmly welcomed by the Kisan Morcha. Prominent attendees included BJP State General Secretary Gujjula Premender Reddy, BJP Kisan Morcha State President Kondapalli Sridhar Reddy, Kisan Morcha National Executive Member Goli Madhusudhan Reddy, Papayya Goud, State General Secretaries Padamati Jaganmohan Reddy and Maripalli Anjaiah Yadav, BJP Rangareddy District President Raj Bhupal Goud, and Kisan Morcha District President Ravinder Reddy, among others.
