Houthis launch dual drone strikes on Israel
Yemen's Houthis (Ansarallah) carried out a dual military operation against Israel, using three drones, the group announced on Tuesday.
In a statement, Yahya Saree, the group's military spokesperson, said two drones struck what he described as an 'important' military site in the Negev region, while a third targeted the Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat) port in southern Israel, confirming that the attacks 'successfully' achieved their objectives.

Saree described the assault as part of the group's response to the Israeli 'genocide' in Gaza, where Israeli hostilities have killed over 58,000 people, mostly women and children, vowing that 'our operations will continue until the aggression against Gaza stops and the siege is lifted.'
The Israeli military has yet to comment on the incident.
The latest strike comes days after a similar attack on Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv, which the Houthis have repeatedly targeted. The group has also intensified maritime operations in the Red Sea, attacking ships it considers connected to Israel.

KRG to start salary payments Sunday
Shafaq News – Erbil The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) will begin distributing public sector salaries on Sunday as part of the first phase of a new revenue-sharing agreement with Baghdad. Speaking on condition of anonymity, a source from the KRG Ministry of Finance and Economy told Shafaq News that the KRG will transfer 120B IQD (about $85.3M) in local revenue to the Federal Ministry of Finance via the Central Bank's Erbil branch. In exchange, Baghdad is expected to release 960B IQD ($682.3M) on Monday to cover May salaries, which will be disbursed between Tuesday and Thursday. The same process, the source noted, will apply to June wages: another 120B IQD will be sent to Baghdad next Sunday, triggering a second 960B IQD transfer to fund that month's salaries later in the week. Regarding July payments, the source confirmed the KRG aims to begin partial disbursements in early August, pending the outcome of further talks with Baghdad on long-term revenue transfers, oil exports, and salary scheduling. The agreement follows a high-level meeting last Thursday between Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and President Abdul Latif Rashid, where both reviewed plans to end the financial standoff with the Kurdistan Region.

Pope Leo XIV offers support after Iraq fire tragedy
Shafaq News – Baghdad/Vatican Pope Leo XIV has assured victims of a shopping centre fire in Iraq of his 'spiritual solidarity', expressing his closeness especially to those injured in the tragedy and to the families of those who lost loved ones. A telegram signed by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin says the Holy Father 'commends the souls of the deceased to the loving mercy of the Almighty, and offers his prayers for the emergency personnel who continue to provide assistance', while invoking on all 'the divine blessings of strength, consolation, and peace.' At least 69 people were killed when a fire broke out in a new shopping centre in the Iraqi city of Kut in Wasit Province in eastern Iraq. Eleven others have been reported missing. The mall, which had opened just five days earlier, included a hypermarket and restaurant, where people were shopping and dining when the fire broke out. Civil defence teams rescued 45 people from inside the building. In a statement, the governor of Wasit said, 'A tragedy and a calamity have befallen us,' and announced a three-day period of mourning. The statement said an investigation into the fire has been launched, with results promised within 48 hours. Lawsuits have already been filed against the owner of the building and the mall.
