Abu Dhabi hotels record Dhs611m in revenue in March
The total revenue breakdown comprises Dhs345 million from room bookings, Dhs228 million from food and beverage services, and Dhs38 million from other sources.
The emirate welcomed approximately 417,000 hotel guests during March, highlighting Abu Dhabi's growing appeal as a global tourist destination. The surge is attributed to the emirate's diverse accommodation offerings and high-quality hospitality services. A total of 171 hotel establishments, comprising 34,341 rooms, operated across Abu Dhabi in March. These properties recorded over 1.2 million guest nights, achieving an average occupancy rate of 69 per cent. The average revenue per available room (RevPAR) stood at AED486.
Non-Arab Asian nationals topped the list of international visitors, accounting for 152,000 hotel guests. European travellers followed with 123,000 guests, while UAE nationals accounted for 58,000 stays. These figures underline Abu Dhabi's sustained tourism growth and its strengthening position as a preferred destination for a wide range of global markets. Five-star hotels hosted the highest number of guests, totalling 205,000 in March. European visitors made up the largest segment within this category, with 78,000 guests. Four-star hotels received 119,000 guests, followed by three-star and below hotels with 54,000 guests. Additionally, serviced apartments accommodated 38,000 visitors.
The strong performance aligns with Abu Dhabi's Tourism Strategy 2030, which aims to attract 39.3 million visitors annually, generate 178,000 new jobs in the tourism sector, expand hotel capacity to 50,000 rooms, and increase the sector's contribution to the emirate's GDP to Dhs90 billion by the end of the decade.

Mideast Stocks: Amlak Finance and DEWA Lead Dubai's Recovery; Abu Dhabi edges lower
Dubai index gains on optimism over U.S. interest rate cuts * Amlak Finance and DEWA boost Dubai's market performance * Abu Dhabi index declines due to Dana Gas and E& losses By Mohd Edrees Aug 8 - The Dubai index ended Friday on a positive note, led by investor optimism that U.S. interest rates could decline further this year, while Abu Dhabi headed in the opposite direction to finish lower. U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday he would nominate Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Stephen Miran to fill a vacant seat at the Fed for a few months, while the White House seeks a permanent addition to the central bank's governing board and continues its search for a new chair. Miran holds similar views to Trump, who has berated Chair Jerome Powell for being "too late" in cutting interest rates, even though growth is holding up and inflation is ticking higher. The Fed's decisions impact monetary policy in the Gulf, where most currencies, including the UAE dirham, are pegged to the U.S. dollar. Dubai's main index rebounded on Friday, recovering from two sessions of losses with the index settling 0.3% higher. Gains were underpinned by a 5.3% surge in Amlak Finance and a 0.6% increase in Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation. State-run utility giant Dubai Electricity And Water Authority rose 0.4% after second-quarter net profit jumped more than 25% to 2.26 billion dirhams ($615.3 million). By contrast Abu Dhabi's benchmark index slipped 0.1%, weighed down by a 1.2% decline in Sharjah-based Dana Gas and a 2% decline in UAE's largest telecom provider Emirates Telecommunication Group (better known as E&). Dana Gas reported a 12% decrease in its second-quarter net profit to AED 112 million ($30.5 million) on the back of reduced oil production volumes. Losses in the index were offset by a 0.8% rise in hypermarket operator Lulu Retail Holdings and a 1.7% gain in data analytical firm Alpha Data ahead of their earnings next week. Oil - a key contributor to Gulf economies - was stable at 0.69% to $66.89 a barrel by 1140 GMT. Abu Dhabi citizens can now apply for up to Dh500,000 in additional housing loans
Abu Dhabi citizens will soon benefit from expanded financing options aimed at making home ownership more attainable, thanks to a partnership between the emirate's Housing Authority and leading national banks. The initiative was announced through cooperation agreements with First Abu Dhabi Bank, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, and Al Maryah Community Bank. It offers additional mortgage financing at interest rates and profit margins partially subsidised by the Abu Dhabi Government, making housing loans more affordable for Emirati families. Under the new scheme, citizens with existing Abu Dhabi Housing Authority loans for purchasing or building a home — and a monthly income above Dh30,000 — can apply for up to Dh500,000 in additional financing from partner banks. Repayment terms can extend up to 25 years, in line with UAE Central Bank regulations and Islamic Sharia principles, with the government covering 50 per cent of the interest or profit margins. The initiative also extends to citizens who have already received a loan worth Dh1.75 million from the authority but have not yet started disbursing funds to developers or contractors. This added flexibility will help them better plan and manage their home construction projects. The move is part of the authority's broader strategy to boost homeownership, provide cost-effective housing solutions, and ensure long-term social stability. By partnering with the banking sector, the Authority aims to build a sustainable housing system that supports citizens' needs and aspirations. "At the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, we are committed to strengthening our strategic partnerships with the national banking sector, with the aim of providing flexible accessible financing solutions that meet the needs of citizens and meet their aspirations. "These agreements are an extension of our efforts to enable citizens to own suitable housing, within a sustainable housing system that supports family stability and social well-being," said Hamad Hareb Al Mehyas, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority. "We are committed to expanding the scope of our services and offering additional financing options that contribute to improving citizens' quality of life and facilitating their journey to building or purchasing suitable housing with ease and convenience," he added. Eligible citizens can request the additional financing from any of the three banks through the 'Abu Dhabi Housing' app.
