Beyond the Pale announces 2025 'high camp' arts line-up
Beyond The Pale festival has announced the arts programme for its 2025 edition, set to take place in the Glendalough Estate from June 13 to 15.
Described as more 'daring, delicious and defiant than ever before', the arts programme is set to include acts such as folk and electronics Fermanagh artist RÓIS, Irish pianist, songwriter, vocalist, and fashion designer SexyTadhg, Meow Meow, the international cabaret icon and queen of post-post-modern performance, as well as Irvine Welsh, who is set to present Men In Love, a literary trip down the rabbit hole of masculinity and disco.
The arts programme is also set to feature Haus of Wig, The Wild Geeze, Rathaus, Abandoman, Lisette Krol, Attention Bébé, The New Brass Kings, Faragh Elle, CHOP, Paradise Cabaret and more.

'This year's Arts Programme is a celebration of curiosity, community, and creativity in all its forms,' says Emily Brennan, Arts Programme Manager. 'Whether you're drawn to drag, circus, spoken word, aerial spectacle or simply stumbling into something surreal in the woods — we want people to feel surprised, inspired, and welcome. Beyond the Pale is where play becomes art, and art becomes unforgettable.'
Previously announced musical acts for Beyond the Pale include Róisín Murphy, Jon Hopkins, Berlioz and Broken Social Scene, who will play their only Irish shows this summer, while Boney M play their first Irish show in nearly a decade.
They're joined by Brooklyn-based rockers, TV on the Radio, playing their first show in Ireland in 17 years, festival-favourite Marc Rebillet, BadBadNotGood, recent Brit Award winners Ezra Collective and many more acts.

Bono's contrasting relationships with Noel and Liam Gallagher explained
Liam and Noel Gallagher have both openly talked about their relationships with Bono – with Noel describing the U2 frontman as his 'dearest' pal, while Liam calls him a 'w****r'. It appears the Gallagher brothers didn't share the same friends down through the years. In 2023, Noel described Bono as 'one of his dearest friends'. Leading onto the discussion about his friendship with the U2 singer, Gallagher began by reflecting upon his time meeting with another rock legend, Bruce Springsteen. According to the musician, he met The Boss by chance while they were both in Ibiza and ended up spending the afternoon together. 'Bruce is an amazing dude and I was lucky enough to meet him a few years ago,' he told Shuffle at the time. 'I had lunch with him and his wife. There were a few of us, we were all out in Ibiza and we randomly bumped into each other and we all ended up spending the afternoon together… and he was an amazing, amazing guy,' he added. 'I won't say I was a huge Bruce Springsteen fan, but I've definitely got the utmost respect for him. He was great, just like a kid into music.' He continued, going on to say that they eventually decided to poke fun at Bono's fear of missing out by sending him a photo of the moment. 'We were sat at this long table, we'd had a few bottles of wine and there's food everywhere and we took a selfie with each other and [Springsteen] said, 'Should we ruin Bono's day?' And we sent him the selfie,' Gallagher recalled. 'And, of course, Bono – you might not know this – has got a crippling fear of missing out. And his wife called me and said, 'When you sent him that photograph he couldn't handle the fact that you two were in Spain having the time of your life and he wasn't there'. Gallagher also described Bono as 'one of his dearest friends' and explained what it was like to go on tour with U2. 'He gets a lot of flack, but I fucking love him,' he said. 'I've been on tour with him and, do you know what is amazing about U2? When a band gets to that level, usually your entire operation is run by Americans. U2's operation is entirely run by Irish people, all of it. It's like a mass exodus when they go on tour. It's like there was a bigger exodus than there was during the Famine.' In 2021, Noel said he thinks he knows why some people don't like Bono. Speaking to Hometime presenters Andy Bush and Richie Firth, Noel said: 'I've said this to him, so I'll say it to you, nobody likes a do-gooder, nobody likes it. That's why people like me, I'm a do-badder.' Noel admitted he gets frustrated with people who say they don't like U2. 'I'm like, 'No, what you are saying is you don't like Bono.' He said the first side of U2's 1987 record The Joshua Tree is 'like (the Michael Jackson album) Thriller'. But in 2018, Liam Gallagher described Bono – and his brother Noel – as 'f***ing knobheads'. Oasis Croke Park: Liam Gallagher's Fontaines DC feud & rumoured R.E.M. tensions
While there isn't a specific, sustained "feud" between Oasis and other Irish rockstars, there has been recent tension between Liam Gallagher and Fontaines D.C.. In 2024, Oasis rocker Liam hit out at the Irish band after two band members admitted they weren't fussed about the hugely-hyped Oasis reunion tour. Speaking to Studio Brussel after the Oasis tour was announced, guitarist Carlos O'Connell and bassist Conor Deegan III were asked how they were feeling about the news. 'I couldn't really give a s***, to be honest,' O'Connell responded. 'I'm not excited about it either, to be honest,' Deegan agreed. 'Because I just feel like we kind of get caught, in the last year, 2010s, into such a nostalgic thing, that we're forgetting to make new things and I've felt like, what we wanted to do with this record anyway, where we wanted to make our minds look into the future and making new things. 'So for Oasis to reform at this moment, for us, is really annoying.' Liam responded to a fan account who shared an article covering the band's comments, writing: 'F*** them little spunkbubbles I've seen better dressed ROADIES.' Additionally, Oasis had a reported falling out with R.E.M. after a show at Slane Castle in Ireland. In 1995, Oasis played a support slot at Slane Castle for the indie rock superstars and their performance was so well-received that it overshadowed the headliners. The strong reaction from the crowd, combined with some public comments, led to a perception of a feud or rivalry between the two bands. Shoppers in Dublin might have felt they were slipping inside the eye of their mind this week when ALDI Ireland gave its East Wall store a rock 'n' roll makeover worthy of Britpop royalty. Two ALDI brand ambassadors, channelling the Gallagher brothers in parkas and bucket hats, rolled up to the Northside store on a forklift and parked up beside a makeshift 'Wonderwall' sign. The cheeky stunt, captured in a viral TikTok by @codarcfilms, had fans applauding the supermarket's marketing genius ahead of Oasis' two sold-out Croke Park shows next weekend. Naturally, in the run-up to the long-awaited gigs, a chorus of shops, pubs, and brands across Dublin have been singing from the same Britpop hymn sheet. But while plenty have joined the nostalgia-fuelled bandwagon, ALDI has arguably taken the cake with its East Wall transformation The supermarket's tongue-in-cheek tribute, complete with Gallagher lookalikes, has struck just the right chord with fans, with many taking to the comments of the viral video to share their delight. 'This is unreal,' one user penned. 'Took me a second to realise, this is iconic,' another shared. 'Ready for @Oasis arrival,' a third added. Safe to say we'll be seeing more of these stunts as the highly anticipated gigs draw closer! Who's excited?
