A Royal 'Peace Summit': Prince Harry, Meghan Seek Reconciliation With King Charles
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aim to mend ties with King Charles III amid his health issues. A discreet London meeting sparked talk of a royal "peace summit."
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly seeking to mend their fractured relationship with King Charles III as concerns grow over the monarch's health. Pagesix reported, citing sources in the know, that senior staff members representing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were spotted in London last week holding a discreet meeting with King Charles' top communications aide, prompting speculation of a possible royal 'peace summit."
The meeting, held at the private Royal Over-Seas League club, included Meredith Maines, the Sussexes' chief communications officer and Liam Maguire, their UK press lead. On the royal side was Tobyn Andreae, the King's communications secretary.
Hugo Vickers, royal biographer and friend of the family, said, 'They may well have just been discussing routine things, which is more than likely. But at some point, you have got to reconcile."
'The Ball Is In Prince Harry's Court'
The urgency behind Prince Harry's effort reportedly stems from King Charles' ongoing cancer battle. While palace sources say the 76-year-old monarch is receiving the best possible treatment, he is not yet cured. Hugo Vickers said that the weight of time and distance is falling heavily on Prince Harry, telling the outlet, 'Harry would be riddled with guilt if he never saw his dad again. The ball is in Harry's court. He is the one who has to apologize and beg for forgiveness- not the other way around."
The last time Prince Harry saw his father was in February 2024, shortly after King Charles publicly confirmed his cancer diagnosis. The meeting lasted just 30 minutes.
Hugo Vickers said, 'I don't think we'll see Harry returning to royal duties but on a personal level, it would be good if he's able to get on terms with his father."
A Balmoral Invitation For Prince Harry-Meghan?
Royal insiders speculate that King Charles may extend a private invitation to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children- Prince Archie, 6 and Princess Lilibet, 4- to join him at Balmoral, the King's Scottish estate, where he traditionally spends August.
'It's his house- he can do whatever he likes," Hugo Vickers said, adding, 'But there's quite a lot of ground to be made up."
Despite the Sussexes' apparent outreach, relations between Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, remain ice-cold. The two have reportedly not spoken in years and sources close to Prince William say he has no intention of reconciling. However, Hugo Vickers suggested that Princess Eugenie, daughter of Prince Andrew and a close friend of Prince Harry's, could be key to bridging the family divide.
'Eugenie seems to be the one in touch with Harry and could broker the deal- especially where the children are concerned. They are going to grow up and work out that their first cousin, Prince George, is going to be the King of England," Hugo Vickers said.

Kate and William may ditch a decades-old royal rule as Prince George nears 12 – here's what it means and why it matters
Twelve isn't typically considered a turning point in most families, but when you're second in line to the British throne, even birthdays come with weighty consequences. As Prince George celebrates his 12th birthday on July 22, a little-known but longstanding royal protocol could soon change the way the young heir travels, possibly for the rest of his life. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Historically, direct heirs to the crown are discouraged from flying together, an unbending precaution rooted in the monarchy's effort to ensure continuity. Prince William, George's father, was 12 himself when this rule was enforced. Until then, he'd traveled alongside both parents and younger brother Prince Harry. Then, the rules kicked in. 'We flew all four: the Prince [Charles], the Princess [Diana], Prince William and Prince Harry, up until Prince William was 12 years old,' Graham Laurie, King Charles' former pilot, said on A Right Royal Podcast in 2023. 'After that, he had to have a separate aircraft, and we could only fly all four together when they were young with the written permission of Her Majesty." Source: X At the time, it was Queen Elizabeth's handwritten note that made those early family trips possible. Without it, flying together wouldn't have been allowed. Will Kate and William follow the royal protocol? This year, the decision falls to Prince William and Kate Middleton, and it isn't just logistical; it's philosophical. Do they stick to precedent and separate flights? Or continue traveling with their three children, George, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 7, as they have until now? The answer isn't clear. While permission from King Charles could allow all five family members to board the same plane, it's also possible the Prince and Princess of Wales may not ask at all. In recent years, they've made deliberate choices to soften, or outright abandon, certain royal traditions in favor of protecting their children's childhoods. Take long-distance travel, for example. When Charles was young, Queen Elizabeth often spent months away from him, leaving him in the care of nannies and his grandmother. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now 'You can't see this couple doing that,' a royal insider told PEOPLE, noting the clear contrast in how William and Kate approach parenting. They've also skipped various ceremonial events to keep family life stable, especially amid Kate's ongoing cancer treatment, during which time the family has drawn even closer. Helicopter in the room The travel conversation around the Wales family isn't new, and neither is the concern. The Sun on Sunday once reported that Queen Elizabeth was deeply uneasy about Prince William's habit of flying helicopters with his entire family on board. 'She knows William is a capable pilot but does not think it is worth the risk for all five of them to carry on flying together, and can't imagine what would happen,' the outlet reported. 'It would spark a constitutional crisis." Because after Prince William and his children, the next in the line of succession is Prince Harry, who stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and now lives with Meghan Markle in California. What was once an abstract risk now feels closer to a crisis scenario, especially from the palace's point of view.

Mel B marries Rory McPhee at iconic St. Paul's Cathedral, Spice Girl stuns in pearl-embellished gown, star-studded reception held at The Shard
The 'Spice Girls' star Mel B has tied the knot with hairstylist Rory McPhee. The wedding took place on Saturday, July 5, at The Crypt of St. Paul's Cathedral in London--a venue known for hosting the wedding of Princess Diana and then-Prince Charles in 1981, as reported by People. The Spice Girl, 50, shared an Instagram video showing her and her husband getting ready in their respective hotel rooms in the hours before their nuptials. The footage showed the singer relaxing in a chair while several specialists worked on her makeup and hair. She wore a gown from the London-based shop, which featured a strapless corset and a sheer illusion jacket embellished with pearls. She paired the dress with a cathedral veil and wore her hair up, with natural curls framing her face, as reported by People. Wedding dress designer Josephine Scott told the outlet that the gown was created to convey the singer's "fearless spirit and softness all in one look." She explained, "She's iconic, powerful and radiant, and this dress had to be worthy of that. Every detail was chosen to honour her strength and sensuality, while celebrating the woman and the love story beneath the girl power," reported People. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Mel B's Instagram video also featured some clips of the wedding rings and her groom, McPhee, as he put on his suit for the big day, which included a black bow tie on top with a black jacket and a red, patterned kilt on the bottom, to honour his Scottish heritage. After the couple tied the knot, they headed to the 5-star, located inside The Shard, a 95-story skyscraper in London, England, which was decorated with fairy lights and florals, according to People. According to the publication, the ceremony continued with a grand reception at the Shangri-La Hotel, located inside The Shard, the tallest building in the U.K. Celebrities including Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Cara Delevingne, Katherine Ryan, and Daisy Lowe were among the guests. Mel B's three daughters -- Phoenix (26), Angel (18), and Madison (13) -- were her bridesmaids. The singer has been married twice before and has spoken openly about her experiences with domestic abuse. In 2022, she was awarded an MBE by Prince William for her work in raising awareness about domestic violence. This honour enabled her to marry at the historic St. Paul's Cathedral. "It's a big deal because when you get married there, not many people are allowed to get married there. You have to be kind of special," she shared in May on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, according to People. The wedding came just weeks after Mel B enjoyed a bachelorette party by the sea, joined by 36 of her close friends. The group, all in leopard-print swimsuits, danced together to Beyonce's "End of Time." McPhee helped the Spice Girls singer believe in love again, she said in March 2024, according to People. "I was like, 'I'm never going to get married again. Never, never, never. I'm never having a relationship. I'm fine by myself. I want to raise my kids, put my head down and work, and that's it,' " Mel B said. "And then... never can say never, can you?" "I believe in love, and clearly the other two marriages turned out to be not love, from their angle," Mel B continued. "So I feel like I've really missed out, and now I've got this opportunity to be properly in love with a really good guy who I know loves me for me, who's known me before I was a Spice Girl, why wouldn't I do that?" reported People.
