American brand Nike unveils Freak 7 with advanced traction & comfort
The seventh entry in Giannis' Nike signature lineage is designed with a particular movement in mind: the most lethal Euro step in all of basketball.
Nike launches the Giannis Freak 7, built for Giannis Antetokounmpo's dynamic playstyle, especially his Euro step. It features a unique “ANTETOKOUNMPO†traction pattern, full-length Cushlon 3.0 midsole, and mechanically engineered grooves for grip, comfort and agility. Inspired by Greek sandals, the upper enhances lockdown and lateral containment, blending heritage and performance for the next-gen hooper.
Starting with the traction needed to cut, start, stop and Euro step at the highest level, Nike designers developed a new 'ANTETOKOUNMPO' traction pattern. It features a more rigid feel on the lateral side of the silhouette and a smooth ride medially — helping Giannis and hoopers like him create critical separation and leave defenders in the dust.
In a first for Nike Basketball, this performance innovation pairs with a full-length, wall-to-wall Cushlon 3.0 midsole that delivers — in an accessible silhouette — the comfort and responsiveness required for hoopers who put in long hours to improve their game.
Further, the midsole, outsole and upper of the Giannis Freak 7 all feature mechanically engineered grooves that flex and compress, helping Giannis and other powerful hoopers effectively Euro step around, through and over the competition every time they hit the court.
'A lot of people say that I'm not a power forward, I'm a basketball player. I play like a guard, and it's hard for people to put me in one position,' says Giannis . 'I have to cover space quickly, so my shoe has to have incredible grip and be stable enough to move side to side when I play. The Giannis Freak 7 accomplishes that and more, bringing the performance I need to power my game in a design that reminds me of my heritage and how much I've worked to get here.'
To help contain sharp cuts and effective Euro steps, Nike designers created an upper inspired by both Giannis and Nike's heritage — reminiscent of Greek sandals that lock down the heel while helping contain the foot on both the medial and lateral sides.
Giannis' surname is spelled out in the traction pattern, and the upper subtly incorporates his signature logo. The lead Ignition colorway recalls the intensity Giannis channels when he steps onto the court, and every detail is designed to support his notorious work ethic, inspiring young hoopers to put in the work to advance their game.
'We approached the Giannis Freak 7 with a modern and holistic design language, reimagining the iconic Greek sandal into a containment structure tailored for the demands of Giannis' trademark and explosive Euro step,' says Ross Klein, Senior Director, Men's Basketball Footwear Product Design . 'Designed to mirror the rhythm of Giannis' game, the silhouette fuses modern energy and fluid motion with the traction and lateral containment needed to perform at the highest level."
The Giannis Freak 7 also reflects Nike's unparalleled commitment to basketball, its athletes and the culture of the game.
By committing to listening to the voices of athletes — girls, boys, women and men, from the EYBL to the highest levels of the game — Nike is creating the future of basketball footwear. Its industry-leading silhouettes along the spectrum of feel accentuate the way athletes use their athleticism as their competitive advantage.
Nike complements these footwear innovations with colorway stories, materials and finishes that match the bold and confident energy that the next generation of hoopers brings to the court.
By creating the best for the best, then delivering it to those who love the game the most, Nike is championing the players at the heart of basketball, powering the future of the game, and fueling basketball culture — serving Giannis and his fellow all-stars alongside the next generation of athletes and fans. Women's Euro: Beth Mead reflects on bench role in England's run to SF, says ‘I love being on the pitch'
New Delhi: England's Beth Mead reflected on her transition from being named the player of the tournament, winning the golden boot award for six goals in England's 2022 Euro-winning campaign to now serving the team with an outburst of injury from the bench in the ongoing Women's European Championship. With the semi-final against Italy scheduled for Wednesday (IST), Mead has so far started only one of England's four games, and grabbed a goal in the 6-1 win over Wales. "You've got to be ready to go into the moment. You've got to be ready to go into a position that you might not want to play or don't normally play in and that was what was different for me (against Sweden). "I ended up playing in midfield as a number six and then I was a number 10 - I changed position a few times in the game and I loved it. I love being on the pitch, I love being able to do what I can do for the team, but they're the things that you have to be able to do as a player. "You have to expect the unexpected and be willing to do what you need to do for the team and the greater good,' Mead told BBC Sport. After conceding two early goals against Sweden, the defending champions roared back and drew thequarterfinal clash 2-2, before eventually moving past on penalties (3-2). The Lionesses have shown togetherness throughout the tournament, which Mead believes sets them apart from the others in the tournament. "It's not easy when you know you're not starting and you're playing well or whatever but I think that's what has set us apart as a team. The togetherness, the willingness to try to make each other better, to try to make each other feel like we can figure it out. "That's something that I've also seen as a shift of my role. I really know how important that is - from being a starter to being competitive in training - to make us better. So far I think we're doing a good job of that,' she added.

Usyk V. Dubois II: The Cat Always Lands…
Last Updated: Oleksandr Usyk's precision and footwork led to a fifth-round knockout of Daniel Dubois in their thrilling rematch at Wembley. Ninety thousand fans. One fabled stadium. Two heavyweights who know each other too well. When Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois returned to the ring for their rematch under the hot July lights at Wembley, the boxing world expected answers to as many questions as punches thrown. Fight week in London pulsed with anticipation, the city humming like a tuning fork. Flags and face paint painted Wembley Way. Usyk's yellow and blue filled the pubs, as Dubois' homegrown faithful talked up a redemption story. Betting shops tightened their odds to favour the crafty southpaw, but after Dubois' recent KO streak, few dared dismiss a revenge twist. By Friday's weigh-in, the faceoff looked like the prelude to a classic Greek tragedy—hero versus challenger, pride versus legacy. The ringside angle of ???????????????? left hand by Oleksandr Usyk🎯 #UsykDubois2 — DAZN Boxing (@DAZNBoxing) July 19, 2025 Despite contrasting backgrounds and boxing roots, both men's recent paths seemed destined to collide again. Usyk, now 38 but physically sharper than ever, glided into London on the heels of back-to-back wins over Tyson Fury—still irked by the IBF's cold-blooded decision to strip his title. For Usyk, it was an occasion to reassert textbook perfection. On fight night, everything felt amplified. Usyk's walk-in, choir in tow, built to a crescendo that silenced the audience in respect; Dubois' ring walk, spiked with fireworks and local chants, turned up the London pride. The Dismantling: Round 1 The opening stanza was all about measuring distance and intellect. Dubois charged to the center, intent on bullying the smaller man from the first exchange. But Usyk, all pivots and feints, had other plans. Slipping past Dubois' busy jab and stiff right, Usyk found his range with the southpaw jab, marking territory and scoring cleanly. Two minutes in, a mean straight left pierced Dubois' high guard and drew a collective hiss from those close enough to feel its sting. According to CompuBox, Usyk out-landed Dubois, 11 to 7—a sign that, at least early, timing was trumping muscle. Round 2 The second round saw Usyk settle into his element, pivoting his lead foot to set traps and force Dubois off rhythm. The Brit, feeling the crowd and the moment, tried lunging in with a double jab, while his corner barked for more aggression. Usyk bided his time, waiting for each overreach before cracking home two counters to the midsection. Every time Dubois tried to load up, Usyk slipped and responded with a piston-like jab or a hard left to the body. By the bell, Usyk's connect tally ticked upward, and Dubois, visibly frustrated, returned to his stool already having to reset his plan. Round 3 By round three, the mood at Wembley shifted. Realising the points deficit and the struggle to close range, Dubois went for broke, a heavy overhand right swung for the fences. Usyk, ever the master of angles, rolled beneath it and answered with a nimble left hook that wobbled the bigger man. You could feel the crowd sensing the balance of power shifting. Dubois, a proven knockout artist, now appeared the more tentative fighter, his mouthguard working overtime as he sucked in oxygen. Round 4 Then, controversy flickered in round four. Dubois dug to the body, his glove straying low and drawing a grimace from Usyk. The referee paused to issue a warning, and for a moment, memories of their first fight's 'low blow affair" threatened to take center stage. Usyk waved off the incident, resetting quickly and finishing the round with a surgical three-punch combo. Dubois now looked hunted, blinking and pawing at the air, as Usyk's confidence swelled. And then, the fight found its highlight reel. With only fifteen seconds gone in the fifth, Usyk feinted down, tricking Dubois into lowering his guard. The Ukrainian launched a vicious overhand right over the top, dropping Dubois to his knees. Wembley's volume leapt to jet-engine decibels. Dubois hauled himself upright, his eyes glassy and legs watery. Usyk showed no mercy. Smelling the end, he walked Dubois to the ropes, waited for the desperate overhand, and detonated a sweeping left hook that sent Dubois crashing to the canvas—gumshield launched, dreams dashed. At 1:52, referee Steve Grey had seen enough, waving it off to a roar only Wembley could summon. The numbers told a tale of precision over power: Usyk's mastery was in the details. His footwork, a kaleidoscope of pivots and shifts, forced Dubois to chase and miss—according to round-by-round stats, Dubois' connect rate plummeted as frustration built. As the Brit overreached, each miss queued up a textbook counter, a pattern that climaxed in the decisive knockdowns. 'He discombobulated Dubois; he mesmerised him. Under 15 minutes of pure wizardry," observed a ringside Gareth A. Davies, encapsulating the collective awe from fans and analysts alike. In the ring, Usyk served up a playful rebuke to talk of his age: 'Thirty-eight is a young guy—only the start." Dubois accepted defeat with candour. 'I gave everything I had. He's a generational great." Sometimes, the better man wins. With his status as a three-time undisputed champion secure, Usyk's legacy grows ever more luminous. He is now the first fighter of the four-belt era to hold undisputed crowns three times across two divisions, forcing historians and fans alike to compare him with Lennox Lewis, Muhammad Ali, and Joe Louis. As promoter Frank Warren confirmed, Joseph Parker will be the WBO's mandated challenger, and Tyson Fury wasted little time teasing a third encounter on social media: 'See you soon, rabbit." For Dubois, reflection and rebuilding are next. Youth and power remain on his side, even if the myth of his invincibility is forever pierced. top videos View all On social media, the impact was instant and global. Within minutes, #UsykDubois2 soared to the top trending spot. Ring Magazine's post highlighting Usyk's shocking 71% power-punch accuracy was shared and debated millions of times. As midnight passed and Wembley emptied, the echoes of another classic reverberated through the sport. Usyk didn't simply win—he reminded everyone why boxing, at its best, is equal parts intellect and violence, poetry and punishment. As he knelt in quiet thanks, the world asked a question echoing around the division: Who, if anyone, can ever catch 'The Cat"? NBA Trade Rumors: Could Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo Team Up With $215,159,700 Atlanta Hawks to Improve Title Odds?
Giannis Antetokounmpo (Image via USA Today) In a bold trade proposal that has the potential to shake up the NBA landscape, the Atlanta Hawks have been linked to a blockbuster deal that would land them two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks . The trade idea, first floated by Connor Thoms of Bleacher Report, suggests Atlanta could be an unexpected suitor for the Greek Freak, especially in a rapidly changing Eastern Conference. Proposed Trade Breakdown Here's how the trade would look according to Thoms' hypothetical scenario: Atlanta Hawks Receive Milwaukee Bucks Receive Giannis Antetokounmpo Jalen Johnson Zaccharie Risacher Kobe Bufkin Four first-round picks One pick swap This package gives Milwaukee a mix of promising young players and future draft capital, while Atlanta forms a formidable 'Big 3' with Antetokounmpo joining All-Stars Trae Young and Kristaps Porzingis. Eastern Conference Shake-Up Giannis Antetokounmpo (Image via Trevor Ruszkowski, Imagn Images) If executed, this deal would dramatically alter the balance of power in the East. With Indiana's Tyrese Haliburton and Boston's Jayson Tatum both expected to miss the upcoming season due to injuries, the door is open for a new contender to rise. Pairing Giannis with Trae and Porzingis offers Atlanta a lethal combination of speed, size, and shot-making that could push them deep into the playoffs. Antetokounmpo's Uncertain Future According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Giannis Antetokounmpo is reportedly 'open-minded' about leaving Milwaukee for the first time in his career. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Ready for a Glow-Up? (Book Today) Undo That openness comes after the Bucks' disappointing first-round exit at the hands of the Indiana Pacers, who dispatched them in five games. Ashish Mathur, who reported on the trade idea for NBA Analysis Network, emphasized the weight of such a move: 'It will be intriguing to see if Antetokounmpo stays with Milwaukee or requests a trade.' Giannis has been loyal to Milwaukee since being selected 15th overall in the 2013 NBA Draft. Over his 12 seasons with the Bucks, he's helped transform the franchise into a perennial playoff team and led them to an NBA title in 2021. Bucks' Recent Moves Signal Change Since their playoff exit, the Bucks have been active in retooling their roster: - Waived and stretched Damian Lillard - Signed Myles Turner and Gary Harris - Re-signed Bobby Portis, Kevin Porter Jr., Gary Trent Jr., Taurean Prince, and Jericho Sims Despite these moves, Milwaukee doesn't currently look like a true title contender, prompting growing speculation that a Giannis trade may become a reality. Giannis Antetokounmpo by the Numbers The Greek Freak remains one of the league's most dominant forces. Last season, he earned All-NBA First Team honors while posting monster stats: Stat Category 2024-2025 Season Average Points 30.4 Rebounds 11.9 Assists 6.5 Steals 0.9 Blocks 1.2 He's also locked into a lucrative three-year, $175 million extension signed in 2023, with a salary of $54.1 million for the upcoming season. A Hall of Fame Trajectory Already etched in NBA history, Antetokounmpo's resume includes: - 2× MVP - 1× NBA Finals MVP - 1× Defensive Player of the Year - 9× All-Star - 2021 NBA Champion With career averages of 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game, Giannis is all but guaranteed to be enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. While this trade remains hypothetical, it underlines a major question heading into the 2025-26 season: will Giannis remain loyal to Milwaukee, or is it finally time for a new chapter?
