LONDON CALLING Lose yourself in luxury and experience how the other half live in plush new aparthotel The Other House

But then everything about The Other House in London's plush South Kensington district is next level.

Experience how the other half live and spend the weekend in style
The tremendous two-tier accommodation was right up there. Then there was the restaurant, member's lounge, library, bar, gym, and pool area that was top notch.
The concept is that you're turning the key on a home-from-home when you step through the front door.
Yet for most of us, this is a glimpse of how the other half live.
Some of the suave and sophisticated clientele have long-term reservations over weeks and even months while others are there for a simple get-away break.

My wife Arleen and I spent two luxurious nights in the leafy west end property which was much, much more than we expected.
Situated in SW7, The Other House is in one of the most desirable and affluent areas of the city. The millionaires and billionaires of Chelsea and Knightsbridge are literally just around the corner.
But it's a great base to go out and explore the other parts of town.
We headed to the big smoke from Glasgow and decided we'd let the train take the strain rather than fly. Pulling into Euston just four-and-a-half hours after we left Central Station, the journey was a breeze.

You may think the one-hour flight is quicker but once you factor in everything that goes with airports these days then it's definitely an option worth considering.
After stepping off our carriage and onto the platform, we got a quick tube to Gloucester Road station, before a five minute walk had us checking in. The welcome we got was as warm and inviting as the plush decor.
The adult-only Greek hotel with laid-back DJs and hidden beach
Cocktails in the beautifully boutique Owl and Monkey bar were a treat — I recommend the pineapple and salted caramel caipirinha — with the tasting plate menu more than enough to keep you going.
The next morning we ate breakfast in the funky The Other Kitchen with its American diner vibe. They serve food all day, from 7am until 6pm.

'Think seasonal soups, hearty salads, signature sandwiches and sharing plates,' the website says.

So we booked a table for dinner on night two and were blown away.
Throughout the week there are various incentives to stick around with Happy Hour drinks on Mondays and Tuesdays, a live DJ on Fridays and a Jazz Brunch every Sunday.
It's as though they realise they have to make a big effort to get you out of your sumptuous room.

And that was true when it came to us. We'd booked a spacious Club Flat which had all mod-cons and high-end furnishings.

Rooms at The Other House, South Kensington, start from £260 a night. See otherhouse.com/south-kensington.
The open-plan kitchen/living room felt much larger than it actually was because of the vaulted ceiling.
Thankfully, the curtains are controlled by an electric switch as there was no way anyone was reaching up high enough to close them manually.
Upstairs, the bedroom was neat and there was plenty of wardrobe space and a designer en-suite bathroom with rain-shower as standard.

Mezzanine Club Flat at The Other House
The Other House architects really made the most of the space they had to work with in their no-expense-spared, multi-million pound redevelopment.
It's the same downstairs in the opulent relaxing member's lounge and spa, where the swimming pool, sauna and steam room are there to help you unwind.
And it was all very welcome after a day exploring London with all it has to see and do. We visited all the main tourist attractions and walked for miles but boy were we happy to come home to our Other House at the end of the day

Is it safe to travel to Greece? Tourist advice amid wildfires
More than 50 wildfires have erupted in the country in the last 24 hours, leading to a request to the EU for six firefighting planes. Residents of Kryoneri, 12.5 miles northeast of Athens, received three SMS messages to evacuate to safe areas yesterday (July 26). This comes as Greek authorities battle separate fires on Euboea and Crete, its two largest islands, as well as on the island of Kythera and in the south-west of the mainland. Firefighters battled wildfires across Greece and the Western Balkans as the south of Europe sweltered under the third heatwave of the summer Both areas are popular holiday destinations for Brits who are looking to fly out this summer. However, if you've got a trip booked over the coming weeks, the extreme weather could impact your plans. As of July 27, the UK Foreign Office has not issued any "do not travel" notices for Greece. Although it does highlight safety advice due to a 'high risk of wildfires during the summer season from April to October'. The website recommends travellers register for the Greek government's national emergency alerts, stating: 'Wildfires are highly dangerous and unpredictable. The situation can change quickly.' Tourists are also urged to 'be cautious if you are in or near an area affected by wildfires,' and to call the emergency services on 112 if you're in danger. Greece experiences wildfires every year, but they are becoming more intense and frequent. 🔴⚠️🔥♨️🇬🇷🇹🇷For the 1st time in recordes history,#Turkey has reached 50°C on July 25,during one of the worst #heatwave ever in the # also for #Albania & #Greece, all with multiple #wildfires.⬇️12hrs in sunlight by meteosat12 via @zoom_earth #ClimateEmergency Last year, Greece experienced its hottest June and July on record. If you find yourself at the site of a wildfire while on holiday, follow instructions from local authorities and keep essentials with you at all times. If you're set to head out to Greece on holiday, then it's best to check with your tour operator or airline. For those preparing to travel, it may be possible to cancel your trip for a refund, but only under specific circumstances. 'For tourists concerned about travel disruptions due to wildfires, it's essential to understand the options available in terms of insurance and refunds," Travel and Tour World states. The best ways to try and prevent jet lag on a long-haul flight Here are the best seats to choose on a plane - and the ones to avoid 'In cases where the wildfire threat directly impacts the region you are visiting, travellers may be eligible for a refund or rebooking. 'However, if the situation is not deemed dangerous enough by authorities, or if no official travel advisory is issued, airlines and tour operators are generally not obligated to offer full refunds.' As it stands, there is no Foreign Office warning against travel, so it's best to continue to check for regular updates in case the situation changes in the coming hours and days.

Inside England captain Leah Williamson's romance with Miss USA winner Elle Smith
England captain Leah Williamson will be leading the Lionesses to hopeful victory in the Women's Euro 2025 finals tonight. Leah's England will take on former rivals Spain in St Jakob-Park in Basel, Switzerland, two years after losing out on their World Cup attempt. All eyes will be on the England team, including 29-year-old team captain Leah, who was permanently appointed to the post by England manager Sarina Wiegman in 2022. But what do we know about Leah's life away from the pitch? Does she have a girlfriend or partner? When not leading her team to victory, Leah has made headlines for her rumoured romance with former Miss USA Elle Smith. Here's all we know about Leah Williamson's relationship with the 27-year-old beauty pageant winner. American journalist and beauty pageant contestant Elle Smith was crowned Miss USA in 2021. In the run-up to the competition, she was named Miss Kentucky USA that same year, making her only the second woman from Kentucky to win Miss USA. She went on to represent the United States at Miss Universe, ultimately finishing in the Top 10, losing out to India's Harnaaz Sandhu. Although they became romantically linked in 2024, Leah and Elle have not officially confirmed whether they are in a relationship. Speculation that the pair were 'soft-launching' a relationship began in March, when Elle posted a video of her and Leah floating in the ocean together on a paddleboard. This came accompanied by the caption 'happy birthday my love x,' to which Leah responded with a series of emojis. Since then, they have continued to pop up all over each other's social media, including a picture of them celebrating England's 6-0 win against Portugal, back in May. In the black-and-white picture, Leah sits on Elle's lap, with the former Miss USA titleholder's arms around her. In response to the picture, Leah commented: 'We did it🥹🥹🥹' Last month, Elle shared a series of snapshots from their holiday to Majorca together – many of which saw the pair looking very loved-up indeed. These images included a snap of Elle and Leah on a paddleboard together, as well as shots of them all dressed up and headed out for dinner. Leah shared her own carousel of images on her Instagram page, too, which included a number of grabs of Elle smiling and contented. Leah also showed her appreciation when Elle shared a series of snaps posing in her Skims bikini while on holiday in Jamaica for her birthday last month. 'I have no words,' Leah wrote in the comments to the post – to which Elle responded: 'all yours.' More Trending She then commented again soon afterwards, writing: 'Just come for a second viewing.' Elle has shared a message of support ahead of tonight's final, posting a snap of herself in a t-shirt to her Instagram Stories. This wasn't any old England t-shirt either. The message emblazoned on the white tee's front in red writing? 'Live, Laugh, Leah.' Got a story? David Beckham hugs Harper and Victoria on superyacht amid stormy family feud
For months, rumours have rumbled of a bitter split within the Beckham family - but proud dad David looked happy as a clam as he hugged his daughter and wife on a luxury holiday David Beckham looked in good spirits on the high seas as he hugged his daughter and wife during a trip to St Tropez. The 50-year-old sporting legend joined wife Victoria, 51, and daughter Harper Seven, 14, on the deck of a luxury yacht. The sport star looked casual in a sand coloured cap and dark t-shirt - and with a smile stretched across his face. Victoria pouted alongside her husband with her hair loose around her shoulders. While teenage daughter Harper looked pretty in a pink as she wrapped up in a casual hooded top. The trio were spied on the deck of the boat lined up for a photograph together. The famous family are known for heading to the south of France to enjoy a summer break year after year. And they were joined by second son, Romeo, 22 - who reportedly spent the afternoon zipping around the sea on a jet ski. Father, daughter and wife posed and smiled for the cameras as their boat - worth a reported £16 million - bobbed gently on the Mediterranean waters. The Daily Mail shared the sun-soaked snaps which made the family look like they had not a care in the world while enjoying the picturesque French weather. The calm image is in contrast to the stormy headlines that have haunted the Beckham family in recent months. A feud is said to have erupted between the family and eldest son Brookyln - who is married to American Billionaire heiress Nicola Peltz. Fans became concerned for the Beckhams after they noticed Brooklyn and his wife snubbed David during his 50th birthday celebrations in May. In subsequent months, there have been reports that Brooklyn and Nicola have clashed with his younger brothers - while other reports have suggested the family have been at odds since Nicola and her husband got married in 2022. There have also been shady comments and social media quips that have left fans reading into the smallest details for evidence of a feud. On Saturday, social media posts featuring Romeo and his younger sister Harper hinted they were glad to be in the sun and away from feud-fuelled headlines. The duo were spotted heading out for dinner in St Tropez and both cut casual appearances. Romeo was pictured wearing a red baseball cap, teamed with a round neck white sweater. Meanwhile Harper opted for a white hoodie with the word "Seven" emblazoned across the front of it. Both looked in high spirits as they enjoyed an evening out with their parents. While Vicky, Dave and their kids have been lapping up the sun in France, estranged son Brooklyn has been spotted in the UK - far from his Hollywood home. The couple took a leisurely stroll through a picturesque garden where they were spied by fans. Nicola took a candid photo of her husband by a quaint garden well, while they both opted for casual outfits for their trip. One sweet photo shows Brooklyn kissing Nicola as they pose in front of a mirror. Fans noted, however, that the couple enjoyed time in the UK while the rest of the Beckham family were abroad - raising speculation they may have coordinated their trip to avoid a run in.
