Messi slipped through defenders with his trademark dribbling before burying a left-footed shot from distance that made it 2-1 in the 84th minute. He then set up Luis Suárez with a back heel assist to give Miami a two-goal cushion. It was the 19th goal of the season for Messi, who leads MLS, and a needed win for Inter Miami, which moved up to fourth place after slipping to sixth in the East following a 4-1 rout at Orlando last week. Miami coach Javier Mascherano said the team will check in with Messi on Sunday to see how he felt after the game, in regard to the hamstring injury as well as fatigue. There were times during the match that Messi appeared to stretch out his right leg. 'The important thing is that he finished (the match),' Mascherano said through an interpreter, adding that he thought Messi seemed to get more comfortable as the game went on. Jordi Alba put Miami up 1-0 late in the first half on Saturday, finishing a well-placed through ball from Sergio Busquets. Joseph Paintsil tied it in the 59th for the Galaxy, who are the defending MLS Cup champions but are currently last in the Western Conference standings.

Joaquín Pereyra, Dayne St. Clair lead Minnesota United over Sounders 1-0 in West showdown
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Joaquín Pereyra scored in the second half and Dayne St. Clair made it stand up as Minnesota United finished off a season sweep of the Seattle Sounders with a 1-0 victory on Saturday night. Pereyra netted his third goal of the season, scoring unassisted in the 73rd minute to help Minnesota United (13-6-8) end the Sounders' seven-match unbeaten run. Minnesota United beat the Sounders 3-2 in Seattle in early June. St. Clair finished with four saves for his ninth clean sheet of the season. He saved a shot by Álex Roldán in the 80th minute to preserve the shutout. Stefan Frei had two saves for the Sounders (11-7-8), both in the scoreless first half. Minnesota United was coming off a 2-1 home loss to the Colorado Rapids and still hasn't lost two straight in league play this season. Seattle saw a 4-0-3 unbeaten run end in a match where a win would have moved the Sounders ahead of third-place Minnesota United in the Western Conference. Instead, Minnesota United moves into second place — two points behind San Diego FC in its debut season. Seattle leads the all-time series 14-3-2.

HARRISON, N.J. -- Dylan Nealis scored his first career goal in MLS on Saturday night to help the New York Red Bulls beat Philadelphia 1-0 and snap the Union's five-game unbeaten streak. Carlos Miguel Coronel had a save for the Red Bulls (11-10-6). Nealis opened the scoring in the 74th minute. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, on the left side, cut inside to evade a defender and played a low cross to Nealis for a first-touch finish that ricocheted off the post into the net. Philadelphia (15-6-6) is the points leader in all of MLS with 51. Cincinnati, which plays Portland later Saturday, and San Diego FC, which leads the Western Conference and plays Sunday against San Jose, each have 49 points, Union goalkeeper Andre Blake had a save before the 34-year-old left the game with an apparent hamstring injury in the 28th minute and was replaced by 19-year-old Andrew Rick. New York's Kyle Duncan (red card, violent conduct) and the Union's Jakob Glesnes (yellow card accumulation) served one-game suspensions. 2-0 at home on July 12.
