'Finally free!' BTS' Jimin and Jungkook channel peak maknae energy, melt ARMY with shy giggles in first post-military appearance

"Finally Free" is trending online — and for good reason! BTS members Jimin and Jungkook have officially been discharged from their mandatory military service in South Korea. The duo, who enlisted together under the "Companion Soldiers" buddy system — which pairs close friends or relatives during their service — were relieved of their duties on June 11.
Pulling up in a black Carnival van and radiating pure maknae energy, the members were greeted by their staff before stepping out to meet reporters. A little shy, the duo giggled with each other as they faced the cameras for the first time in months. Still clad in their military uniforms, they also waved to the people who had been waiting patiently since dawn — something that hasn't sat well with many ARMY, as BIGHIT MUSIC had requested fans not to gather near the discharge site.
Jimin and Jungkook speak to ARMY
The duo took turns addressing ARMY, sharing heartfelt words one after the other. Speaking in Korean, Jimin said: "First of all, to our ARMYs — from the COVID era to our military enlistment — it's been quite a long time. Thank you so much for waiting for us. Now that we've been discharged, we'll continue working on the big picture we've been drawing. We'll do our best to prepare even better things to show you."
Jungkook followed with his own message of gratitude: "Yes, and to the sunbae soldiers who came before us, the soldiers still serving, our peers who left just before us, and the directors who worried—I mean, worked harder!!—than anyone as we lived and worked together, I just want to say thank you for taking such good care of us."
Since they couldn't express everything in that moment, the two added with a smile: "A lot has happened, but we'll gather our thoughts and share more with you... in a livestream."
Jimin wrapped things up on a touching note: "These memories that I'm truly grateful for — I'll cherish them in my heart for a long time."
ARMY react to Jimin and Jungkook's shy giggles
Soon after their photos and videos went viral, ARMY couldn't help but gush over how adorable the two looked. Many were especially emotional about seeing Jimin, as he hadn't appeared in front of a camera or shared any updates since his enlistment.
More about BTS
Jimin and Jungkook completed their service together at the Army's 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province. With their discharge, they become the fifth and sixth members of BTS to finish their mandatory military duties. Their return follows closely behind RM and V, who were officially discharged on June 10.
The group's eldest member, Jin, completed his service in June 2024, with J-Hope following in October. Now, with only Suga set to be discharged on June 21, the full lineup will soon be reunited — a long-awaited moment for ARMY around the world.

Lee Jung Jae's Squid Game Season 3 becomes most anticipated 2025 K-original among other releases, check top three

Squid Game is officially back in the spotlight, and the world can't get enough. Even before its release, the upcoming third and final season of Netflix's iconic Korean survival thriller is generating immense buzz. According to the second-week June OTT K-Original Content Viewer Evaluation Report by Consumer Insight, Squid Game 3 holds the No. 1 position among yet-to-be-released shows. It has maintained this spot for a second consecutive week. The numbers speak volumes: 85% awareness among viewers and a 55% intent-to-watch score. The official trailer alone, released on June 1, amassed over 10 million views within two days. As of June 12, total teaser views surged past 19.18 million, proving that public curiosity is at an all-time high. Its closest rivals, I Am a Running Mate and Hunter with a Scalpel, trail just behind in viewer anticipation at 2nd and 3rd rank. What will Season 3 explore? In Season 2, Seong Gi Hun (Lee Jung Jae) decided to remain in Korea instead of fleeing to the United States. Consumed by guilt over the lives lost and fueled by a deep desire for justice, he dares to challenge the sinister organization behind the deadly game. However, despite his efforts and careful planning, his rebellion ends in failure. Now, in the final season, viewers will finally witness what Gi Hun does next. According to director Hwang Dong Hyuk, this final chapter is centered on Gi Hun's emotional and moral struggle. 'Season 3 deals with Gi Hun, who's fallen to rock bottom guilt-ridden over losing friends and failing to save people then rises up again,' Hwang said during a press conference. The story dives deeper into the ideological battle between Gi Hun and the Front Man, played by Lee Byung Hun. New deadly challenges revealed This season ups the ante with a fresh batch of lethal games, each more intense and symbolic than the last. Director Hwang teased several new survival tests that will push characters to their physical and psychological limits: A perilous high-rope bridge suspended over a deadly drop A labyrinth-themed version of 'tag' and 'hide-and-seek' A brutal team-based jump rope challenge A glowing starlit maze filled with traps The introduction of a new killer robot doll named Cheolsu. It's described as even more chilling than the infamous Younghee from Season 1 Cast and release date Season 3 brings back core cast members Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun, with fan-favorite Wi Ha Joon also reprising his role. They'll be joined by an impressive roster of talent, including Im Siwan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Gyu Young, Park Sung Hoon, Yang Dong Geun, Kang Ae Sim, Jo Yu Ri, Lee Jin Wook, and more. The six-episode season will feature approximately 50-minute episodes. The series is scheduled to drop globally on Netflix on June 27, 2025. The countdown has officially begun! And if early numbers are any indication, Squid Game 3 could go down as the most-watched final season in Netflix history.

'I'm still scared of the night,' RM's statement gets misinterpreted amid NJZ and Min Hee Jin's controversy; fans react

BTS RM , along with members V, Jimin, and Jungkook , were all recently discharged from their mandatory military service. On his first livestream after returning to civilian life, RM detailed how much he used to struggle in the army and how he struggled with issues like insomnia during his service. Shortly after, a Korean article went viral, using his words out of context and linking him to the ongoing NewJeans and Min Hee Jin case. RM opens up about his mental health during the military After being discharged, BTS RM held a solo live stream to directly interact with fans and connect with them after his discharge. Throughout the live, the singer discussed his experience in the military and how difficult it had been for him to cope with everything over the past 18 months. He shared how he suffered from mental health issues and insomnia, and how the act of sleeping itself has started to scare him. He detailed that 'To be honest, I'm still scared of the night even now. I'm scared of the fact that I have to sleep. Lying down and being still for 3 to 4 hours is truly hell.' He continued that he had to go to a doctor to get medication to sleep properly. The leader of the group also pointed out how he was advised by his doctor that the issues may be occurring due to military, so to get better and lower his medication, RM has been trying to get back to his normal schedule. 'To be honest, half of my diary is filled with my sleep problem story. Because I really couldn't sleep,' he also added. According to Koreaboo, the now-deleted article talked about RM opening up about his mental health and time in the military, and connected it to him being 'stressed' about the ongoing case with NewJeans, Min Hee Jin and the group's former label. RM mentioned that he started suffering from sleep issues in April-May last year, which was directly related to the ongoing case. The article stated that 'The period RM referred to—April 2023—was when tensions between HYBE and former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin were at their peak. At the time, HYBE launched an audit and filed a criminal complaint against Min for an alleged breach of trust regarding management control over ADOR. ' Fans outraged at viral article react strongly online The article faced a lot of backlash from netizens and fans alike who flooded the comment section under the article with their opinions. One stated that 'The level of trash journalism, wow,' while another commented, 'Wow, that headline is something else.' People called out the publishers and the journalist involved in writing the article and criticised them for taking the idol's words out of context.
