The horses are approaching the starting gate for the rescheduled Blue Grass Stakes 2025 Road to the Kentucky Derby race. Weather and heavy rain delayed the opening of the Keeneland meet along with the final major championship series prep race for 3-year-olds on the Kentucky Derby Trail.
The Tuesday, April 8 Blue Grass Stakes provides the final opportunity for horses to received qualifying points (100-50-25-15-10) for a top-5 finish and earn their way into the May 3 Kentucky Derby and the Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs.
FanDuel Racing has a Blue Grass Stakes preview with horse profiles of the top contenders in the field of seven for the 1 1/8 mile race at Keeneland Race Course in Kentucky.
You can watch and wager on the $1.25 million Blue Grass Stakes on FanDuel Racing and FanDuelTV with post time for Race 10 at 5:52 p.m. ET.
FanDuel Racing provides promotions, tips and added content for horse racing and the biggest races to help guide you to the winners circle. They provide horse profiles below.
Along with FanDuel Racing, I also turned to the experts at Horse Racing Nation and it's Super Screener big race analysis for their picks and insight on the Blue Grass Stakes. .
Super Screener notes that Chancer McPatrick will be sitting well off the pace and will have ground to make up in the shorter stretch at Keeneland. But he has stamina-rich breeding and the best turn of foot in the field having already won a pair of Grade 1 races as a 2-year-old last fall. He should be rolling fastest towards the wire with Flavien Pratt riding for trainer Chad Brown. A big move in his Form Cycle Analysis is projected having finished 2nd in the Tampa Bay Derby in his first race of the year off a layoff. That race was won by Owen Almighty, who's in this field at the Blue Grass but got a perfect trip on the front end to win the Tampa Bay Derby.
Todd Pletcher-trained River Thames has moved forward in each race and now makes his fourth start after finishing a very close 2nd in the Fountain of Youth behind Sovereignty. Top jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. now takes over and while he has a shot in this race, his breeding suggests he's more of a sprinter and this is about a maximum distance for success and not a Kentucky Derby win contender.
Since FanDuel became an official partner of the Kentucky Derby three years ago, America's biggest race has had between $179 million and $210 million wagered on the Kentucky Derby.
Follow the remaining races on the Road to the Kentucky Derby with the points leaderboard changing following this final major prep race as the field of horses becoming finalized for the Run for the Roses on May 3.
You can bet on it.

NASCAR's 2026 schedule shake-up: New street race, Chicagoland's return, and more

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — NASCAR in 2026 will race on a new street course in San Diego, return Chicagoland Speedway to the schedule, move the All-Star race to Dover, Delaware, and end its 38-race season back at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The schedule released Wednesday includes two off weekends on a calendar that stretches from February to November. It begins with the exhibition Clash on Feb. 1 at Bowman-Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem for the second consecutive year, with the season-opening Daytona 500 to follow on Feb. 15. The season ends Nov. 8 in Florida at Homestead, which hosted the championship-deciding finale for 18 consecutive years before NASCAR shifted it to Phoenix Raceway in 2020. The race at Phoenix was given a different date in the playoffs and NASCAR is expected to rotate the season finale to various venues in ensuing years. Chicagoland is reopening after a six-year hiatus and a switch back to the track located in suburban Joliet after three seasons on a temporary street circuit in downtown Chicago. The San Diego event will be held on a military base in Coronado. To add Chicagoland and San Diego, NASCAR dropped the Chicago street race and will not return to Mexico City, where it held the first international Cup Series points race since the 1950s. A return to Mexico City in 2026 became difficult to schedule because of soccer's World Cup. NASCAR also moved Watkins Glen in New York from its traditional August date to Mother's Day weekend and the all-star race from North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, to Dover so that North Wilkesboro will be a points-paying Cup race, and New Hampshire lost its playoff race to become the penultimate race of the regular season. There also are two off weekends after just one this season, which ends with 28 straight races. The 2026 Cup Series schedule: Feb. 1 — Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium Feb. 15 — Daytona 500 Feb. 22 — Atlanta March 1 — Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas March 8 — Phoenix March 15 — Las Vegas March 22 — Darlington, South Carolina March 29 — Martinsville, Virginia April 5 — off weekend April 12 — Bristol, Tennessee April 19 — Kansas April 26 — Talladega, Alabama May 3 — Texas May 10 — Watkins Glen May 17 — All-Star Race (Dover) May 24 — Coca-Cola 600 (Charlotte) May 31 — Nashville, Tennessee June 7 — Michigan June 14 — Pocono in Long Pond, Pennsylvania June 21 — San Diego June 28 — Sonoma, California July 5 — Chicagoland July 12 — Atlanta July 19 — North Wilkesboro July 26 — Brickyard 400 (Indianapolis) Aug. 2 — off weekend Aug. 9 — Iowa Aug. 15 — Richmond, Virginia Aug. 23 — New Hampshire Aug. 29 — Daytona, Florida Sept. 6 — Darlington Sept. 13 — Gateway in Madison, Illinois Sept. 19 — Bristol Sept. 27 — Kansas Oct. 4 — Las Vegas Oct. 11 — Charlotte Roval Oct. 18 — Phoenix Oct. 25 — Talladega Nov. 1 — Martinsville Nov. 8 — Homestead ___ AP auto racing:

2025 Tour Championship picks, odds: Can anybody upset Scottie Scheffler at East Lake?

The 2025 PGA Tour season concludes this weekend at East Lake in Atlanta, Ga., and, if we're being honest, they should just crown Scottie Scheffler the FedEx Cup Champion and save us all the trouble. Scheffler erased a four-stroke deficit Sunday to win the BMW Championship, giving the World No. 1 his fifth win and 15th top-10 finish in 18 starts this season. Those results are historic, but he'll only be crowned as this season's champion if he can win this week's Tour Championship. In previous formats, Scheffler would start the Tour Championship at 10-under par, but the powers that be have decided to do away with starting strokes and put all 30 players on even par for the 2025 iteration. Not only does that level the playing field, but it also makes this tournament a lot more fun for bettors, who, like casual fans, were pretty tired of the old format. 3 Scottie Scheffler after winning the BMW Championship. AP Even without the head start, Scheffler is a whopping +150 favorite at DraftKings, well ahead of Rory McIlroy (+850), Tommy Fleetwood (14/1), Ludvig Aberg (18/1) and Russell Henley (20/1). Despite his Tiger-esque odds, you can feel pretty confident that Scheffler will be the most popular bet behind the window this week – and don't let me stand in your way if that's your speed – but we'll pick out a few long shots who look like they're primed to make some noise in the curtain-closer. 3 Harry Hall has been one of the most consistent players on the PGA Tour in 2025. AP 2025 Tour Championship picks Harry Hall (55/1, bet365) If you're a regular reader of our Wednesday golf picks, you probably saw this one coming. We've been on Harry Hall the past two weeks, hoping to cash in on the Englishman's terrific, yet unheralded, form. It hasn't worked out just yet, but Hall was right around it once again at the BMW Championship, finishing sixth for his fifth top-10 finish on the season. The 28-year-old has been remarkably consistent to close out 2025, posting 11 straight top-30 finishes with eight top-20s in that span. According to Justin Ray of the Twenty-First Group, Hall ranks first in strokes gained: putting, third in scoring average and fourth in birdie-or-better rate since May 1. He's doing everything but winning right now. Get the lowdown on the Best USA Sports Betting Sites and Apps Shane Lowry (70/1, FanDuel) It wasn't too long ago that Shane Lowry was in terrific form with nine top-20s, four top-10s and a pair of runner-ups in his first 14 starts in 2025. A terrible showing at the US Open seemed to cause the Irishman to come unglued, however, and he's now without a top-20 finish in his last five tournaments. That said, Lowry finished T23 at the BMW Championship and showed signs of life Sunday. Known to do his best work on the biggest stages, Lowry's talent means he's always worth a look at this kind of price. 3 Sungjae Im teeing off at the BMW Championship. Getty Images Sungjae Im (90/1, Caesars) Like Hall, Sungjae Im has been a regular feature in this column to no avail, yet. Like Lowry, this is a buy-low opportunity on a player with the talent to disrupt this field. It may be a surprise that Im even qualified for this event, but his T17 at the St. Jude two weeks ago was enough to vault him into East Lake in what has otherwise been a down year. The South Korean has missed four cuts and posted just two top-30 finishes in his last 10 starts, but he has popped at different times this year. He came out of the gates strong with two top-five results in his first three starts, and he was T5 at Augusta in April. Im also has some strong history at East Lake with a runner-up in 2022 and a sixth-place finish last year.
