The road closure in the picturesque Welsh town of Fishguard — ranked as one of the best UK seaside towns to move to in 2025 — may cause disruptions for locals and visitors.

Fishguard High Street will be closed in both directions due to road resurfacing work until Friday, 16 May.
Some of the initial work involved laying new infrastructure for new flats being built next to one of the main shops in the town.
However, some businesses along the road have stayed open, and pedestrian access is still available.
Temporary traffic lights are operating 24/7, authorities have said. The one-way system has been temporarily converted into a two-way system while roadworks continue.

Traffic coming from the A487 in Lower Town will be redirected along West Street and can then continue via Ropewalk and Penbanc, or take the A40 bypass to reach the top of Fishguard High Street.
The Pembrokeshire town is known for its scenic coastal trails, colorful buildings by the harbor, and rich history.
Fishguard has two harbours, the oldest being Lower Town Harbour, which played an important role in the Irish ferry trade.

EasyJet passenger left 'disgusted' as couple do something 'unhygienic' on flight
A holidaymaker was left gobsmacked after spotting a couple's grim antics on a budget flight. Erin Butcher was jetting back from a week-long family break in Tenerife when she witnessed a man 'picking dirt from under his partner's toenails' aboard an easyJet plane. Erin clocked a woman's bare feet resting on the tray table mid-flight. The 27 year old fashion merchandiser was then utterly repulsed as the man seemed to be fiddling with her French pedicure toenails and 'flicking bits of dirt' about. She alleges the pair carried on this way for 20 minutes, prompting awkward chuckles from fellow passengers. Erin took to TikTok to share the nauseating incident, captioning her video 'Nothing beats an easyJet flight. Hope no one ate off this tray table on the next flight'. Since being posted on July 31, the clip has exploded online, amassing over 336,200 views, reports the Mirror. Appalled, Erin described the act as 'unhygienic' and a 'depressing' finale to her getaway. Southwark resident Erin expressed: "I felt so disgusted and I couldn't believe it. "The partner was sprawled across the seats with her feet on the tray table, which was shocking enough. "Her partner then started picking at her toenails and flicking little bits [of dirt] everywhere. It was disgusting." She continued: "I was absolutely horrified. I was with my family and none of us could actually believe what was happening. "Even to do that in the privacy of your own home is questionable but to put them on a tray table where people are eating off all day. "I was relieved I wasn't sitting next to them. I had the perfect view from my aisle seat which is horrifying. I couldn't really take my eyes off even though I wanted to. "Her feet were on that table the majority of the four-and-a-half-hour flight. She was really making herself at home. It's so unhygienic. "Other passengers around us had noticed as well. Everyone was laughing and it was quite unbelievable. "As if things aren't depressing enough when your week in the sun has just ended and you're faced with toe picking the whole way home." The incident follows another recent controversy where a fellow air traveller condemned a mother for changing her infant's soiled nappy on a tray table instead of utilising the lavatory facilities. She revealed on Reddit: "I'm a really nauseous flyer, so I took a Dramamine ahead of time and did my best to get some sleep during the flight. "This didn't happen because of the baby's crying, but oh well, I know flights are scary and stressful for infants and there was nothing anyone could do about that. "What got to me was the couple changing their baby's extremely stinky number two diaper right in the middle of their seats, using the mum's food tray as a changing table. "We were at the back of the plane right by the bathrooms, which I confirmed had baby changing tables when I had to go back there to throw up after the smell hit me." Much to her delight, the pilot ended up speaking out against this behaviour - but sadly it was too late to stop the smell from making its way around the cabin. Chris Eubank gives 'uplifting' talk to staff at Galway hotel during race week
Boxing icon Chris Eubank gave staff at the Connacht Hotel an impromptu spiritual talk during Galway Race week. As staff were preparing to welcome thousands of horse racing fans to the popular hotel during race week, Eubank was also staying at the hotel. The world famous sports star gave an impromptu 'uplifting' talk to staff on Friday afternoon. Kieran O'Malley, PR and social media marketing for the Connacht Hotel, said: 'I thought I was going to take a quick photo with Chris Eubank and some staff. 'It turned into a 45 minute lecture on philosophy and spirituality. 'Race Week is our busiest week, but this was the antidote to this, Chris was calm and pensive, he had the entire room hanging on his every word, humours and uplifting it was a Friday afternoon none of our staff will forget.' It comes after Eubank also posed for a photo as the Connacht airport shared the snap across their social media channels along with the caption: "You never know who you'll bump into at Ireland West Airport. "Delighted to have Chris Eubank arrive at the airport earlier today." Eubank has previously praised the 'spirit' of the Irish people and the admiration he has for the nation. "An Irishman has a spirit that cannot be broken. I mean the Maoris, we can liken them to the Maroons, the Jamaicans. They are special people. "I'm not bumping them up, I'm not Irish. US plans $15k bond requirement for some tourist and business visas
The US could require up to $15,000 (€12,900) bonds for some tourist and business visas under a new pilot programme launching in two weeks, a US government notice said on Monday, an effort that aims to crack down on visitors who overstay their visas. The programme gives US consular officers the discretion to impose bonds on visitors from countries with high rates of visa overstays, according to a Federal Register notice. The bonds also could be applied to people coming from countries where screening and vetting information is deemed insufficient, the notice said. US president Donald Trump has made cracking down on illegal immigration a central focus of his presidency, surging resources to secure the border and arresting people in the US illegally. The Republican president issued a travel ban in June that blocks citizens of 12 nations from entering the US on national security grounds. The new visa programme, effective August 20, will last for approximately a year, the government notice said. The US government launched a similar pilot programme in November 2020 during the last months of Trump's first term in office, but it was not fully implemented due to the drop in global travel associated with the pandemic, the notice said.
