Yahoo2 days ago
International superstar Billie Eilish is performing in Manchester this week as part of her Hit Me Hard and Soft World Tour.
Announced all the way back in April last year, the award-winning singer-songwriter is set to perform a run of four dates at the newly built Co-Op Live Arena on July 19, 20, 22 and 23.
Billie Eilish released her first single Ocean Eyes on SoundCloud in 2015 when she was just 13 years old. Her and her brother Finneas recorded the song in her bedroom.

Ten years on from then, the Wildflower singer has now had a series of number one hits and albums, and has won a multitude of prestigious awards including two Oscars and nine Grammy's.
Her latest album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, was released in May 2024, shortly after the announcement of her tour of the same name, and contains hits including Wildflower, Guess, Lunch, The Greatest, among more.
Billie Eilish has always used her platform to advocate for climate and environment action, which includes promoting a plant-based diet.
In a first for Manchester Co-Op Live, the whole venue will be offering entirely plant-based food for every night that Billie Eilish performs there in July.
A statement on the Co-Op Live website reads: "Co-op Live will commit to a fully plant-based food menu, in alignment with Billie Eilish's dedication to environmental action.
"This one-off initiative underscores both the artist's and the venue's shared mission to lead the future of sustainable live entertainment.
"Across seven kitchens over three levels, you will be treated to a 100% plant-based menu featuring everything from the bespoke Billie Eilish Burrito and plant-based burgers to masala fries and vegan pizza."
A full list of the food items on offer can be found on the Co-Op Live website.
For Billie Eilish's gigs in London, the O2 also committed to offering fully plant-based food. Ahead of her show, a video played to fans talking about the initiative and encouraging fans to try eating plant-based for 30 days.
Her opening night at Co-Op Live is this Saturday, July 19, and there are a limited number of tickets still available for Billie's four gigs in Manchester over on Ticketmaster.
Billie Eilish will be supported in Manchester by American singer-songwriter Syd, who will take to the stage at 7pm, following general admission at 6pm.
Then, Billie Eilish herself is set to take to the stage at 8:15pm.

LEGO Unleashes The Decepticons with New LEGO Icons TRANSFORMERS Soundwave Set — GeekTyrant

LEGO is back with another epic addition to its Transformers lineup, and this time, it's all about the bad guys. The LEGO Group has teamed up with Hasbro once again to bring fans the LEGO Icons Transformers Soundwave set, and it's a Decepticon dream come true. With 1,505 pieces, this build is a nostalgia bomb. The set recreates the classic G1 version of Soundwave in all his blocky, cassette-loving glory. He's fully posable, equipped with a working cassette bay, and you can flip him into his vintage cassette player mode without taking him apart. 'Recreate the fan-favorite Soundwave, the loyal lieutenant of the Decepticon leader Megatron along with his trusted companions Ravage and Laserbeak. Make Soundwave talk by pressing the play button to activate his voice and sound effects. Then convert Soundwave into cassette player mode without having to rebuild!' That play button activates specially recorded voice and sound effects, something brand-new for LEGO's Transformers line and a fun interactive twist that fans will appreciate. The set also includes two of Soundwave's iconic minions: Ravage and Laserbeak. Both convert into mini cassette tapes and fit neatly inside Soundwave's chest, just like the original toy. Toss in a laser blaster, rocket pod, and a display plaque with Soundwave's power stats, and this becomes the ultimate shelf trophy for Decepticon loyalists. The set drops August 1 for LEGO Insiders and opens up to everyone else on August 4th for 189.99.

Kayaker pops into Pembrokeshire for Welsh cakes on incredible European tour

An intrepid round-Europe kayaker has been welcomed to Pembrokeshire this week with a bag of Welsh cakes - thanks to a local teacher who he met in Spain last year. Urban Heupgen from Germany and Dylan Davies, who teaches at Haverfordwest High, had a chance encounter last August while Dylan was on a summer tour in his camper van. Dylan, from New Hedges, near Tenby, was astonished to learn that Urban had paddled thousands of miles on his incredible journey, encountering all kinds of marine hazards on his way. 'I bumped into Urban last August in Spain, and when I asked how far he had come, he surprised me and said 'Germany," explained Dylan 'We got talking and it turned out he was on a multi-leg trip over a few years from Estonia through the canal and river system in Germany into the Med. "He has been met with range safety vessels, multiple species of whales, container ships, ferries and even a close call with a helicopter.' Dylan was fascinated by Urban's voyage which the solo kayaker has documented on his social media pages. Urban can be followed via on Instagram and his blog The Pembrokeshire reunion was 'a special moment', said Dylan, pictured here as he greeted Urban (centre). (Image: Dylan Davies) 'He was so unassuming," said Dylan. "When I met him, he had around 100 followers and minimal specialised kit - his sea kayak, paddle and lifejacket. "Though he isn't doing it for any fanfare or recognition he will be the first to circumnavigate Europe when complete." Dylan kept in touch with Urban through his social media, and last Saturday, July 12, he boarded his own boat to sail out for a rendezvous on Caldey Island. 'It was a very special moment," said Dylan. "The weather couldn't have been better and as he didn't have any shorts with him, as he didn't expect a hot British summer I gifted my swim shorts and a bag of Welsh cakes.' Dylan's dog Larry, was all aboard for his master's meet-up. (Image: Dylan Davies) Urban is now paddling his way across the Irish sea to the east coast of Ireland, from where he will work his way clockwise around Ireland, then to Scotland, hoping to finish this year in the Shetlands. Added Dylan: "It would be great if people could give him a follow to watch his epic and unassuming journey." You can follow Urban's voyage on his social media pages, linked above.

Woman dies at Tomorrowland days after devastating fire on main stage

A Canadian woman has died at Tomorrowland festival just days after the festival opened despite a huge fire destroying the main stage. Authorities in Antwerp are investigating the 35-year-old's death after she became unwell at the festival grounds on Friday night. A statement said emergency services resuscitated the woman, but that she later died in hospital. The public prosecutor's office in Antwerp said in a statement: 'The prosecutor's office immediately launched an investigation. Initial findings indicate strong evidence of a drug-related death. An autopsy and a thorough toxicology examination will provide definitive answers.' Images shared on local news sites and social media showed flames and plumes of black smoke engulfing the stage and spreading to nearby woodland on Wednesday. Fireworks seemingly ready for performances were also seen exploding into the air as nearby residents were urged to close all windows and doors until the fire was contained. No members of the public were present at the time of the blaze, but 1,000 employees were on site. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed. Some of the world's most popular DJs are due to appear on the stage over the weekend, including Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Fisher, Swedish House Mafia and Steve Aoki. The Independent has contacted Tomorrowland for comment regarding the death of the woman. Festival spokesperson Debby Wilmsen told Brussels Morning: "She received first aid and was then transferred to the University Hospital of Antwerp. 'We were informed she passed away there. Our condolences go out to her family and friends. The Antwerp prosecutor's office is investigating the cause of death and will update further on this matter.'
