Natalie, 42, got engaged to the transport manager from Bristol in 2010, but split a year later.
During their relationship, Adam was charged with assaulting her and received 120 hours of community service.
Natalie later reconciled with him for a brief time as she tried to make it work for the sake of their child Eliza, who they welcomed back in 2010.
Speaking on the latest episode of her podcast Life With Nat, the actress was joined by her aunt Linny, where she admitted her relationship with her ex "wasn't a happy one".
Discussing her parenting, mum-of-two Natalie said: "We don't raise them the same, of course we don't..."
She told her aunt: 'It's a cementing of your marriage, or your life... it's everything… but I didn't have that experience.
"I was in a relationship, it wasn't a happy one.
"Eliza was my absolute life, but the experience that came with it wasn't a nice one.
"So again everyone has a very different experience."
EastEnders' Natalie Cassidy claims huge pop star used to BULLY her at school and reveals awkward confrontation
Natalie previously spoke about the reasons she briefly ereconciled with her ex Adam back in 2010.
She said: "It was my decision. I'm really glad I gave it another chance. When kids are involved you almost have to. I can always say to Eliza, 'Mummy tried, but it didn't work out.'"
Natalie went on to star in her own reality show with Adam.
Becoming Mum hit our screens in 2010 and followed the pair prepare for their first child.
The pair started dating in 2009 and were in an on/off relationship until 2013.
A year later Natalie started a relationship with Marc Humphreys.
They got engaged in 2015 and welcomed their first child Joanie Elizabeth into the world in 2016.
Just two months ago, Natalie waved goodbye to Walford as she quit the soap after three decades.
Before leaving, Sonia left flowers for her ex-husband Martin (James Bye), who died after a metal beam collapsed on him following a fire at the Queen Vic pub during the soap's 40th anniversary live episode.
Sonia was then persuaded to jump into the boat on the back of the trailer to depart Albert Square with Bianca.
She was then asked by the neighbours if she would be going to Bali.
Sonia replied: "Well yeah, that's where we're going to start off, Bex is going to find us some visas and everything, and then we're just going to wing it."
Bianca then handed Sonia her trumpet as she exclaimed: "I've got an idea, look, for old times' sake as we drive off, come on, it'll be a laugh. You can put it in the bin when we get to Stansted."
The character was known for her poor trumpet playing, which angered her family and neighbours, during her early days on the soap.
Sonia played the instrument as they finally left Walford, driven away by her daughter Bex, as the residents of Albert Square waved them off as Julia's Theme played out.

Kids share their top 10 wonders of the world… and they might not be where you think

Sunflowers, seashells, and rocks top the list of 'wonders of the world' CHILD WONDER Kids share their top 10 wonders of the world… and they might not be where you think A STUDY of 381 six-and-seven-year-olds, revealed their favourites out of the millions of everyday wonders. Caterpillars (40 per cent), puddles (27 per cent), and diggers (17 per cent) were among the things to children in their tracks. 3 The study found 40 per cent of six to seven year olds polled were amazed by caterpillars Credit: Getty 3 Sunflowers topped the list of daily wonder for kids Credit: Getty 3 Puddles also made it on the top ten of children's favourite things Credit: Getty With 81 per cent picking up and keeping 'treasures', such as stones from the beach, or a particularly wondrous stick discovered in the woods. It also emerged this wonder is having an impact on their parents, with 62 per cent, of the 600 mums and dads also polled, crediting their youngster for making them appreciate the magic of the everyday things in their environment. In fact, 55 per cent of parents are more likely to notice and be amazed by these daily wonders because their child is. As part of Specsavers' 'Wonder' campaign, alongside commissioning this research, museum-style exhibitions have launched across the UK showcasing children's 'wonders of the world' to get parents thinking about the importance of children's eye health and its impact on their joy and curiosity. Each installation in London, Manchester, Belfast, Edinburgh and Cardiff features a different 'wonder' selected by five local children, alongside their very own plaque. This includes Yusuf's Digger, Aoife's Caterpillar, Ava's Sunflower, Ffion's Rock, and Mila's Seashell. Professor Sam Wass, child psychologist and neuroscientist, said: "Children see the world in a way adults often forget - full of magic, mystery and wonder. "Good vision is essential to this journey of discovery. "It helps children explore, ask questions and learn through play, all of which are essential to their development." And kids said they're most likely spot everyday amazing things at the beach (68 per cent), in the garden (63 per cent), or at their local park (50 per cent). But 35 per cent will even find something interesting to inspect on the way to school, according to the figures. Nearly seven in 10 (68 per cent) parents said their children often stop to look at things most would consider everyday - on average, five times-a-day. Common phenomena they observe their children stopping to watch and wonder at included birds on a wire (26 per cent), reflections in water (20 per cent), and slug and snail trails (16 per cent). More than a quarter (26 per cent) even report often being late every few days because their child is too busy being fascinated by an object. Perhaps as a result, over half (56 per cent) have been encouraged to slow down and look more closely at the world around them. Which may help the 39 per cent who admitted they very much take their ability to see clearly for granted. A further 66 per cent would be concerned if their little one stopped pointing out these everyday wonders. As 19 per cent also said this would be among the reasons they'd book an eye test for their child, as well as if they were struggling to read or write (45 per cent) or rubbing their eyes frequently (44 per cent). Sarah Joyce, director of optometry at Specsavers, added: "Being able to see clearly is vital to children as they learn about the world - as around 80 per cent of learning in school is visual. "But around one in five children under the age of 10 have sight conditions that can get in the way of all that wonder. "Conditions such as long- or short-sightedness, astigmatism, or a squint can often be treated more effectively if they are picked up early - meaning regular eye tests from the age of four, or sooner if they are having any problems, are essential. "The great news is, for children under 16, the NHS will cover the full cost of the eye test."

Great British Sewing Bee star flooded with support after breaking down in tears

The Great British Sewing Bee contestant was in tears after his design was praised, as it shared a link to his late mother A Great British Sewing Bee contestant broke down in tears after judges hailed his "beautiful" creation, which carried a poignant connection to his late mum. ‌ Judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young set the sewers a challenge this week to craft garments using reused and recycled materials, with many contestants bringing along old family clothing. ‌ Durham-based stitcher Dan, who started sewing aged just 10, gathered a collection of matching Christmas t-shirts his family had worn in 2022. ‌ His plan was to transform them into a single halter-neck dress, complete with a faux-fur muff. Discussing the accessory, he revealed: "This was a shawl that I made for my mum that she only wore once, unfortunately she passed away," reports Wales Online. ‌ "So I thought it'd be really nice to have her touch." When his finished creation was unveiled, Dan's garment was described as "beautiful" and he even claimed Garment of the Week honours. "I'm glad I did this, because I wanted my mum to be represented," he wept. ‌ He later reflected: "This week has been insane, I can't believe all the good comments they said. "It was really nice they got my vision and knew where I was going with it, especially this one in particular, it was really personal to me." ‌ Patrick also lauded Dan's finished piece, declaring: "It's absolutely stunning and such a beautiful story behind it. "The perfect way to go from an unwanted pile of old pyjamas into this beautiful, beautiful outfit." Following his victory, Dan said: "I've just got to trust my instincts and go with it. I'm glad that I did it on this week, where it was something so personal." ‌ Viewers were moved by the story behind his design, with one commenting: "Dan that dress was absolutely amazing mate. Thoroughly deserved garment of the week." Another viewer expressed: "Really pleased for Dan," while another added: "Definitely want to give Dan a huge cuddle." "Dan smashed it this week!" a fourth fan praised, while another admirer commented: "Well done Dan, that looked really good." The Great British Sewing Bee airs Tuesdays at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.

Cat, 48, and Patrick, 54, shared a joint statement confirming the shock split earlier this month and Cat has now been seen enjoying some time away in Spain. The This Morning host was seen out with a friend at a restaurant in Sitges on August 2, just days after Cat and Patrick announced their separation after 12 years of marriage. In a joint statement, the couple said: 'We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. 'We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment.' Cat's friend Ben Skervin, a freelance hairdresser with a raft of celebrity clients, shared a highlight reel of pictures and videos from his trip to Spain, describing it as 'an adventure'. Cat commented on the post: 'I love you'. A fellow diner at the restaurant where Cat and her friend were spotted told The Daily Mail: 'Cat looked a bit down and a touch crestfallen, not her usual spritely self, which is understandable given her marriage split. 'She clearly needed to be around her nearest and dearest during such a difficult time.' The So You Think You Can Dance host has been a staple of British TV since the late 1990s and moved out to the US with her family to present the dance competition.
