WNBA ready for the spotlight with All-Star Game in Indiana this weekend
The Fever have three all-stars with Clark, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell all playing in the game Saturday. Clark, who is one of the captains, took both her Indiana teammates for her team in the game.
Before Saturday's contest, the Fever have a busy week with back-to-back games, first in Boston against Connecticut and then in New York on Wednesday.
Indiana is trying to get some momentum heading into the break as they are just over .500 heading into Tuesday night's game.
Minnesota, led by the other All-Star captain, Napheesa Collier, has the best record in the league at 19-4. The Lynx played four games in six days over a stretch they went 2-2. They have one more game against second-place Phoenix on Wednesday before heading into the break.
Sidelined
Atlanta's Rhyne Howard will be sidelined for the rest of the month with a left knee injury she picked up against Indiana. Howard earned her third All-Star nod earlier this month and was drafted by Team Collier. Commissioner Cathy Engelbert will name a replacement for her.
Howard is expected to make a full recovery and a timeline for her return will be provided at a later date, the Dream said.
Strong ratings
ABC had its most watched WNBA game ever on Saturday when Paige Bueckers and Dallas faced Clark and Indiana. The Fever won in a blowout in the first pro matchup between the two star guards. The game averaged 2.1 million viewers.
Record breaker
Naz Hillmon played in her 128th straight game, setting an Atlanta franchise record by passing Iziane Castro Marques' mark of 127. Natisha Heidman of Minnesota has the longest active streak with 199 consecutive games played. Dawn Staley holds the league record with 263.
Power poll rankings
Phoenix moved up to the No. 1 spot, passing Minnesota after beating the Lynx last week. The Mercury haven't been in the top spot since 2018. The Lynx were second and New York was third. Atlanta, Indiana and Seattle followed the Liberty. Washington moved up two spots to seventh with Golden State and Las Vegas next. Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas and Connecticut rounded out the poll.
Player of the week
Alyssa Thomas of Phoenix averaged 23 points, eight assists and seven rebounds to help the Mercury win both their games last week. Other players receiving votes were Shakira Austin of Washington and Angel Reese of Chicago.

Team Clark vs. Team Collier, Saturday. The league's All-Star Game will take place Saturday in Indianapolis and Clark will surely want to put on a show for her hometown fans.

White Sox 10, Pirates 1 Luis Robert Jr. and Edgar Quero both hit homers and drove in two runs to lead Chicago to a road win over Pittsburgh. Quero went deep as part of a three-run first inning for the White Sox, who won for just the third time in nine games. Freddie Freeman doubled for the Dodgers, while Will Smith and Hyeseong Kim each singled. Mariners 6, Astros 1 Luis Castillo pitched 6 2/3 scoreless innings while Randy Arozarena and Mitch Garver each homered to lead Seattle past visiting Houston -- though the Mariners' 36-inning scoreless streak at home ended in the ninth inning. The Mariners posted their fourth consecutive victory and pulled within four games of the Astros, who lead the American League West. Houston lost for the sixth time in its past seven games. After historic shutout, Giants look to cash in vs. Blue Jays

San Francisco outhit Toronto 11-10 on Friday night but lost the opener of the three-game set 4-0 as the teams returned to action after the All-Star break. The primary culprit? The Giants went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position while the Blue Jays, who scored all their runs in the second inning against Justin Verlander, were 3-for-9. 'They got three big hits, we didn't get any,' Giants manager Bob Melvin said. 'We've got to move on from it.' It was the first time the Giants had 11 or more hits and scored zero runs in a game since Aug. 24, 1959, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Giants had two hits each from Heliot Ramos, Rafael Devers and Patrick Bailey. Toronto starter Chris Bassitt allowed two singles in the first and two more in the second, but he worked out of the jams with a double-play grounder in each inning. The victory gave the Blue Jays a three-game lead in the American League East over the New York Yankees, who lost 7-3 to the Atlanta Braves. The Yankees visit the Blue Jays for a three-game series starting on Monday. The Giants are scheduled to send out right-hander Logan Webb (9-6, 2.94 ERA) when they try to square the series on Saturday. They hope Webb reverses the results of his previous two career starts against the Blue Jays. He is 0-2 with a 10.80 ERA against them. Toronto is slated to go with left-hander Eric Lauer (4-2, 2.78), who was one of Toronto's pleasant surprises in the first half. The other hit came against Tristan Beck, who helped save the rest of the bullpen with 4 1/3 innings. Matt Gage, promoted from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, pitched the final inning. The Blue Jays continue to get contributions from a variety of sources. Will Wagner had a two-run double, his first RBIs since he was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on June 28. 'It's always good to help the team out,' Wagner said. 'It's been a long time coming.' George Springer had three hits and a stolen base to end a 0-for-12 drought. The Blue Jays did receive some bad news. Yimi Garica, who is on the injured list with a sprained ankle, is now dealing with an ulnar nerve issue in his right elbow, making his return date uncertain. Getting some help before the trade deadline is a real possibility, of course, and Garcia's problems might be the impetus for a possible acquisition. 'We've got to continue to do our part the next couple of weeks to hopefully make that push,' Toronto manager John Schneider said. 'I don't want to say rely on it, but you can kind of factor that into the equation as long as we're continuing to play the way we're playing, that there will be some additions from outside.'
