Marseille say Adrien Rabiot decision taken ‘collectively' by Roberto De Zerbi, Mehdi Benatia, and Pablo Longoria

Yahoo6 hours ago
Olympique de Marseille have confirmed that Adrien Rabiot (29) has been placed on the transfer list, just one Ligue 1 match into the season.
The France international joined OM last summer on a free transfer after leaving Juventus, and was left out of training sessions on Monday and Tuesday following the club's 1-0 defeat to Rennes on the opening day.
According to , Marseille have made clear that the decision was taken collectively by president Pablo Longoria, sporting director Mehdi Benatia, and head coach Roberto De Zerbi, rather than by the latter alone – as claimed earlier in the day by Rabiot's mother and agent, Véronique.
The midfielder's behaviour around Friday's fixture is said to have been a determining factor in OM's decision to separate from the player before the end of the transfer window. A formal statement from the club is expected in due course from Les Phocéens.

Liverpool ready to agree SENSATIONAL deal for England star

Liverpool last week completed a £26m deal for teenage defender . The Italian enjoyed a breakout season at Parma in Serie A - competing in 17 top-flight matches - and attracted the attention of teams in Italy as well as the Reds. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas home range 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the away range TODAY LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! In the end sporting director Richard Hughes managed to finalise a swoop for 6'5 Leoni - paying an initial £26m or thereabouts for one of Europe's most promising stoppers. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas away range It remains to be seen just how much senior football Leoni gets through this coming season for the Merseyside club. Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are currently the first-choice duo while Joe Gomez is expected to provide cover. Marc Guehi linked with Liverpool deal Throwing a youngster into the white hot atmosphere of the Premier League at this stage of his career may well be a risk and that's why we've seen links maintained with other defenders. Marc Guehi of course appears to be Liverpool's preferred option. His contract situation plays into Liverpool's hands - setting them up for potentially a bargain deal this summer or else a free transfer in 2026 when he becomes out of contract. Liverpool's recruitment of Leoni will have no major bearing on a deal for Guehi - with the Reds also content to wait until 2026 to get their man. Guehi situation now DANGEROUS for Palace That's according to a new report from Football Insider - which claims the situation is becoming ever more 'dangerous' for Crystal Palace over their captain. 'I don't think that will stop Liverpool pursuing this move for Guehi, but it's a dangerous one for Palace because Guehi is more than happy to stay and see out his contract, and that might suit Liverpool,' the report from Pete O'Rourke states. 'They can look at it again next summer and take Guehi on a free, and for Guehi himself, it's a big season ahead – he won't want to move from Palace if he's not guaranteed first-team minutes. 'If Palace do drop their price tag, then maybe Liverpool would decide to push through a deal for Guehi.' © IMAGO - Marc Guehi Liverpool

Mbappe lifts Real Madrid past Osasuna in La Liga opener

Kylian Mbappe struck from the penalty spot as Real Madrid beat a dogged Osasuna 1-0 on Tuesday to make a winning start in La Liga under new coach Xabi Alonso. The France striker, last season's European Golden Shoe winner, scored early in the second half after he was fouled in the area by Osasuna defender Juan Cruz. It was enough to seal the points in Alonso's first game in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Madrid now unbeaten in their opening fixture of a league campaign since 2008. "You can see that Kylian wants to do even more after this first year where he did great things," said Alonso. Mbappe finished as La Liga's top scorer with 31 goals in his first season in Spain, and is now wearing the number 10 shirt vacated by Luka Modric after the Croatian left for AC Milan last month. "I don't know if it's linked to the new number or not, or simply to his desire to win, but he wants to improve individual and collective performance and inspire his team-mates," added Alonso. "You can see his desire every day. Today he created those decisive moments that enable us to win matches." Madrid had a shortened pre-season after their run to the Club World Cup semi-finals in July, but Alonso has been adamant that would not be used as an excuse after their request for the Osasuna match to be postponed to a later date was rejected. "To start on the right foot is key in La Liga. We know we weren't well prepared," Madrid defender Dani Carvajal told DAZN. "But we basically didn't suffer and it was a complete display." Spain international Carvajal came off the bench for his first league appearance since October after a long-term knee injury, replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold in the second half. - New faces in Madrid - Alexander-Arnold made his La Liga debut after his move from Liverpool, with former Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen and left-back Alvaro Carreras other summer arrivals included in the starting line-up. Madrid though were without England midfielder Jude Bellingham, who is expected to be sidelined until October as he recovers from a operation to solve a recurrent shoulder issue. Madrid are looking to turn the page on a disappointing end to the Carlo Ancelotti era after relinquishing both their domestic and European crowns last season. Alonso's side had to show patience against an Osasuna team that finished ninth last term, with the hosts largely restricted to long-range efforts from centre-backs Huijsen and Eder Militao in the first half. Osasuna goalkeeper Sergio Herrera was equal to both, while Mbappe failed to connect cleanly after being picked out by Vinicius Junior before he curled another shot wide as Madrid struggled to break down their opponents. But Mbappe grabbed the only goal six minutes after half-time after he went down following a clumsy challenge by Cruz as he tried to cut past the defender. Mbappe duly got up and running for the new campaign as he sent Herrera the wrong way from the spot. Alonso handed 18-year-old Argentine winger Franco Mastantuono his debut midway through the second half as Madrid controlled the game and seldom looked troubled. Ante Budimir headed over in a rare opportunity for Osasuna and Mastantuono was denied late on by Herrera. Osasuna finished the match with 10 men with Abel Bretones sent off in stoppage time for throwing an arm to block the run of Gonzalo Garcia. mw/nf

Josh Allen gives his thoughts on a potential Gabe Davis reunion with the Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have a connection to a former friend. Ex-Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis is reportedly taking a free-agent visit in Buffalo on Wednesday. That could very well mean he re-signs with the Bills, but we still have some time until we find that out. Davis has had other visits this offseason as well, including one on Tuesday with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Davis 26, was a 2020 fourth-round pick of the Bills and spent his first four NFL seasons in Buffalo. In that time, Davis had 163 catches for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also set an NFL record with four TD grabs in a single postgame contest while with the Bills. Since leaving Buffalo after the 2024 season, it has not gone well for Davis. A three-year deal he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars was cut short after only one year because of injury. But if Davis can regain that form with the Bills he previously had? It could be a strong match for the 2025 season. At least it sounds like quarterback Josh Allen thinks so. "Love that guy, he was awesome when he was here," Allen said. "We haven't stopped being in contact since he left." Allen's full thoughts can be found in the clip below: This article originally appeared on Bills Wire: What Josh Allen said about WR Gabe Davis taking visit with the Bills
