Max's ‘Beleza Fatal' Turns To Whodunit Telenovela Plot For Series Finale: Who Killed Benjamin Argento?
Max produced its first Brazilian telenovela with Beleza Fatal, known in English as Scars of Beauty. For its series finale, it borrowed from the classic whodunit plotline to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

2025 Premiere Dates For New & Returning Series On Broadcast, Cable & Streaming
The streamer has been releasing five episodes every Monday since its premiere on January 27. However, the final drop on Monday, March 17, was only four episodes, leaving the grand finale to premiere on Friday, March 21, at 4 p.m. PT and 7 p.m. ET.
In the era of streaming, with everyone watching at their most convenient time, leaving the last episode to premiere at a specific time allows viewers to catch up and turns the finale into an event.
Social media has been abuzz with the series, with viewers creating memes of Camila Pitanga's extravagant and quotable Lola, the main villain of the telenovela.
Beleza Fatal is Max Brazil's first foray into the genre that Latin audiences have consumed the most. Creator Raphael Montes has borrowed plot points from classic telenovelas and saved the best for last, turning it into a whodunit.
The cliffhanger for Episode 39 leaves audiences wondering who killed Benjamin Argento, the character played by Caio Blat. This plot twist effectively invites viewers to tune into the final episode live. It creates a community where viewers all watch simultaneously, a phenomenon Brazil's TV Globo has used for telenovelas like Vale Tudo and Avenida Brasil, to name a few.
Benjamin was disliked by many characters in the series as he was a villain himself. The two main suspects are Lola and Camila Queiroz's Júlia, whose revenge on the Argento family has completely taken over her.
The killer's face is not seen on camera, but viewers can see her wearing oversized sunglasses and a head scarf as she enters the hospital, where Benjamin is telling all of his family he doesn't like any of them.
Lola is the most obvious killer, as her outfit is similar to what she has been wearing in the most recent episodes. However, Júlia has been possessed by her need for revenge and displayed characteristics identical to Lola.
Some theories point to Júlia dressing up like Lola to frame her so she can end up in jail. This last theory was a callback to the beginning of the series when Lola convinced Júlia's mother to take the blame for killing her husband. Lola had no intentions of helping Júlia's mother get out of jail and ended up framing her for the tragic event.
The Paixão family also has reasons to eliminate Benjamin as he was the doctor operating on their daughter who sent her into a coma and ultimately caused her death.
Scars of Beauty (Beleza Fatal)'s finale will drop on Max on Friday, March 21, at 4 p.m. PT and 7 p.m. ET.

Is ‘Mercy for None' returning for season 2? Everything we know so far
By Aman Shukla Published on August 17, 2025, 18:41 IST Fans of the gripping Korean noir thriller Mercy for None are buzzing with questions about a potential second season. The show, which dropped on Netflix on June 6, 2025, hooked millions with its intense tale of revenge, loyalty, and betrayal. With 4.9 million views in its first week, it climbed to the second most-watched non-English series on the platform. But after that explosive finale, is there more to come? Here's everything we know so far. Is Mercy for None Season 2 Happening? As of August 2025, Netflix hasn't given the green light for Mercy for None Season 2. The show was pitched as a limited series, which usually means one season and done. Based on the Plaza Wars: Mercy for None webtoon by O Se-hyung and Kim Gyun-tae, the seven-episode run covered the whole story, wrapping up most of the big plot points. That makes a follow-up seem like a long shot. But hold up—there's still a sliver of hope. Netflix has been known to bring back limited series when fans go wild or the show gets major buzz, like with Your Honor or The Queen's Gambit . With Mercy for None pulling in huge numbers and fans raving about it online, there's a chance Netflix could rethink things. No official word yet, but if the hype on platforms like X keeps growing, who knows? It's worth keeping an eye on. Mercy for None Season 2 Expected Cast If Season 2 happens, the cast depends on the direction. A prequel could bring back So Ji-sub as Gi-jun, maybe with Heo Joon-ho as Lee Ju-woon or Ahn Kil Kang as Koo Bong-san for some flashback action. If it's a sequel, Choo Young-woo as Lee Geum-son or someone new could take the lead. Characters like Koo Jun-mo or Choi Sung Chul (Jo Han Chul) probably wouldn't return, given how their stories ended. No casting news is floating around yet, but fans would lose it if So Ji-sub came back—he's a big reason the show hit so hard. Mercy for None Season 2 Potential Release Date If Netflix says yes to Season 2, don't expect it anytime soon. The first season was filmed in 2024 and hit screens in June 2025, so figure about 18 months from start to finish. If they kick things off in 2026, a release in mid-to-late 2027 makes sense. 28 Modern Beauty Trends Older Women Hate
Recently, we asked the older women of the BuzzFeed Community what modern beauty, hair, and skincare trends bother them, and they had a lot to say. Here are current trends that they absolutely can't stand*. "Why do people wear pimple patches out in that draws more attention to the fact you have spots?!!" "Brazilian butt lifts." "Threads. There are better ways to stimulate collagen that don't involve putting strings in your face. Barbed threads do not work at lifting either, and it is not possible to defy the laws of physics. Source: every surgeon I've ever talked to and myself. I did them in my disaster." "Wild fingernails, especially really long ones. I'm all for taking care of nails and have nothing against a good seriously, how do you function with full-on talons? I'm just waiting for the day I see two-inch-long nails tipped with googly eyes trying to text, and it sounds like maracas." "Fake freckles." "Less invasive and permanent than the others, but I think we're all going to make fun of the 'cold girl' makeup (using blush on the nose)." "The brushed-up, thick eyebrows. Why do you want to look like a startled werewolf?" "Lip blushing. It reminds me of the white permanent eyeliner trend." "Buccal fat removal. It can look cute now, but at almost 40 now, I'm glad I had chubby cheeks for my entire youth." "Overwhelming hair extensions." "The pressure to remove all female body hair, except for that around your eyes and on top of your head, has GOT to stop! You do you, but I think that hair is there for a reason. Ridiculous how women are pressured to remove almost all of it!" Relatedly... "This isn't something I ever speak about, but I can't stand how much time, effort, and money young women put into grooming down below. Can natural be a thing again, please?" "Veneers. Our skeletons are not perfect, so why do we obsess over having 'perfect' teeth? Just go to the dentist once a year and brush your teeth twice a day. I promise your teeth will be okay." "Twenty-step skincare routines." "Ozempic." "Fake tans. Why do women want to look like orange blow-up dolls? Please! Tone it down a bit and be more subtle and natural." "I cannot believe we don't post real photos of ourselves anymore. Now, everyone's photos are completely edited by TikTok to change their face or are AI-enhanced. When did we start to feel uncomfortable with our own face?" "The overuse of highlight and contour makeup. This is already gone/going out of style, but I think people are going to look at it like I used to look at old photos of women with blue eyeshadow." "Why do women glue big, fuzzy, caterpillar-like eyelashes on their eyelids? It doesn't look natural, let alone good. I think they'll look back at pictures of themselves and think, 'Why did I ever think that was a good idea?'" "I see a lot of teeny tiny upturned noses in pictures online, so IDK how much of that is just filtering, but I think that looks very odd and will look even stranger when they're older if it's real." "The trend I find most disturbing is the obsession younger people seem to have with looking like everyone else, to an unhealthy degree. They all have the same fake-looking eyebrows, fake eyelashes, inflated lips, Botox-ed foreheads…it's sad. Perfection is often NOT what makes someone beautiful. What makes someone naturally beautiful can often be a feature that's unusual and different from everyone else. I think all the people trying to look a certain way are actually destroying their own unique looks." "I always think the 'circle' lip trend of filling in your cupid's bow with lip liner is going to be looked back on weirdly. I can't stand this trend." "I've never been one to do something just because it's trendy, so I say do what you want. I may silently judge you because I think it looks dumb, but you're not hurting me, so go for it. But this obsession with skincare when you haven't even hit puberty yet needs to stop. You have a baby face; you don't need 25 different products on your face." And... "Women in their teens and 20s using anti-aging serums. I'm in my 50s and look 10 years younger. My secret? I used sunscreen in my 20s, that's all!" "Microblading." "Middle parts. Unless your face is perfectly symmetrical (yours is not, I guarantee you), it will accentuate every single imbalance." "I'll never understand bleached eyebrows, but go ahead, I guess." And finally... "Is 'everything' a valid answer? I've worked in the beauty industry for five years, and I hate it. The basics of beauty are a face wash, a treatment if you have an issue that you want fixed, a moisturizer, and SPF. These 10+ step skincare routines are so wasteful and unnecessary. I also cannot stand the people who glorify plastic surgery, fillers/injections, hair and lash extensions, fake tans, long gel/acrylic nails, etc. It's now radical and extremely rare to be authentic. If you're changing everything about yourself, there's obviously a deep issue that needs to be worked on that a needle, some acrylic nails, and extensions won't fix. I work with women who spend their money on products, injections, extensions, and nails, and can't afford insurance, gas, or groceries. It's so absurd to me. I don't like a lot about how I look, but at least it's 100% me." What modern beauty trends can you not stand? Let us know in the comments or via this anonymous form. Why Millennials Love Subtitles
Fellow millennials, I need to get your honest opinion on something. How do you *really* feel about having the subtitles on when you watch TV? Reddit user Some_Kinda_Username recently posed this same question, and people couldn't help but rave endlessly about how great closed captions are. While I might not be a fan of reading while watching my favorite TV show or movie, others just can't get enough! Here's what they had to say on this polarizing topic: "I love me some subtitles! Warning, though, they are addictive. Once you get used to them, it's nearly impossible, or at least quite infuriating, to watch anything without them." "I was using subtitles before it was cool." "Sound mixing is a lost art. Gotta make sure everyone hears the explosions over the actors advancing the plot by whispering." "I love subtitles! Everyone in my house starts talking the second the shows we want to watch come on. I feel that subtitles are a nice compromise. They talk during the show, but I can still enjoy it by reading the captions. Problem solved!" "Subtitles are real-time spoilers." "My late wife was Romanian, and while her English was perfect and much better than mine (I'm British/Canadian), she always wanted subtitles to help her follow along. Something about her brain's ability to translate speech was more tiring than reading. Now I keep them on by default." "I can't watch anything without subtitles anymore. 😭" "I usually have my kids or wife trying to talk to me at the same time I'm watching anything, so if I want to know what's going on, I have to have them on." "How else am I supposed to hear my show over the crunching of this bowl of cereal I'm eating as my fourth meal?" "My husband got me into the whole 'subtitles or bust' thing, and now my anxiety levels elevate if someone is watching something and there are no subtitles." "I have a household of people, and it helps when they don't want to quiet down." "Having been hard of hearing my whole life, the fact that we now have captions on nearly all streaming media has been a godsend for me." "I want it on, and my wife wants it off. It's a real battle." "90% of the time I watch shows or movies, the kids are asleep. Subtitles are mandatory when playing at a low volume." "I feel like I miss too many things without captions." "It's like lowering the volume on your radio when you're lost driving around. I know I'm not the only one." "I've been using subtitles since the '90s. You can pry them from my cold, dead hands." "But like, why does the TV sound different when the subtitles are off?" OK, now I need to know what you feel about this:
